It isn't cherry-picking or living in the past to point out that Indiana has advanced beyond the Sweet 16 one time in more than a quarter century. An entire generation of college basketball fans were born, went through elementary and high school and college and began their adult lives since your program has had any relevancy in college basketball.
That's what this thread is about -- how a program that once had pretensions to elite status became a nullity -- a nothing with no importance to the game. Whatever happens this year won't change the fact that Kentucky has been to the Elite Eight or beyond FIFTEEN TIMES won THREE CHAMPIONSHIPS and participated in EIGHT FINAL FOURS in a span when Indiana has been a perpetual laughingstock. That's not living in the past, it's noting that legacies are more than what happens in any given three month, or even three year period. And IU has no modern legacy as a program of any consequence whatsoever. Is it more clear to you now?
No one has done anything this year, not us, you, or anyone else. That's in the great "yet to be determined" future in the NCAA tournament. I understand why you'd like to keep any and all discussions in this limbo, which is where you pieces of $hit have lived for the last 30 years, futilely hoping that this is the year you finally do something.

Had to chuckle at IU fans claiming UK fans are obsessed with their program (e.g., "living rent free"). Oh, we're not having it out. This guy is a Purdue fan. Their fans are almost suicidal at this point as to where their program is headed and he's making a crack about a kid that leads a top 25 team in scoring and who after this season is going to be a very rich man. It's utterly ridiculous. My Seinfeld comparison explains it perfectly.
I'm here at Rupp Rafters sometimes because I want to see who UK is recruiting, who they're close to landing and if they are after anybody IU is really interested in. Why? Because UK is a major threat against anybody on the recruiting trail. They've taken players right out of IU's backyard before in the past. Hopefully that gets much harder in the future and I 100% believe that will be the case.
Purdue is a different story. They aren't a threat against anybody on the recruiting trail and with Archie in charge in Bloomington, he's walking into Lafayette high schools and pulling kids like Rob Phinisee or heavy Purdue leans like Damezi Anderson right out of Porkchop Painter's sausage fingers. Hell, the only reason they landed Brandon Newman (Valpo High) for next season is because Archie gave both Newman and Armaan Franklin the old; "first come first serve" edict and Franklin committed virtually on the spot. Purdue was, zero doubt, Newman's second choice.
Go and read this imbecile's posts over and Gold & Black. Nojel Eastern might be the worst offensive player in the B1G (no stretch at all, he's TURRIBLE) and this guy is basically his porn fluffer (even other Purdue fans think he's insane). When I read his crack about Romeo, I couldn't help but laugh my ass off.

When did I say that? I never liked Crean from the beginning, I always knew he was a terrible coach. Archie so far has recruited relatively well and he does a good job coaching defense. We'll see how he does moving forward.

Why do you think they’ll be winning a title any time soon? They’re getting decent recruits, but I’m not sold on them being a title contender for the foreseeable future.
It's not just about the recruits, he's recruiting well enough to get there in the next year or 2. Is Archie an elite coach? That's what it will come down to once he gets the talent.
How many times per day, SIHoosier, do you check the KY message board? I only say this because of your comment about “rent free”. You seem to be very concerned about what UK fans are saying. I have no desire to get in the middle of the back and forth, but you clearly care about the thoughts and opinions of U.K. fans. IU used to be relevant. Might be again. But now you are not.
Merry Christmas all you Kentucky slaps. Your team looks great and is only getting better by the day. Keldon Johnson and Tyler Herro are my favorite wing duo in the nation. The skill, the size, the explosiveness, the movement ability both possess, the other wings in the nation simply arent on their level, especially when KJ and Tyler Herro figures it all out in a month or two.
