Yes you need depth, you need 3pt shooting, you need defense, you need rebounding and a post presence. Debate all you want how to rank those, but you need them all.

But maybe most importantly you need 2-3 Dudes who on any given night are capable of being the best player on the court, and can take over a game. 1 is not enough, defenses can game plan around that, foul trouble, roll an ankle, or just an off night. I can only think of 2 title winners in my lifetime with just 1 (Manning/KU, and Carmello/Syr), and Manning was a top tier Dude.

I think we have 1 in Oweh. I don’t think as of now we have a 2nd or 3rd ones.
Who can they be?

The 2 problems with this years team was injuries, and lack of athletes. I think we coulda made a final four run this year had Carr, Robinson, and butler not get injured. Kerr, was way too streaky, more often off than on to drive us throttle this weekend. We struggled mightily against athletic teams. Even without injuries, we did not match up well against Bama.

I blame the early sec games against Texas aTm, Georgia, etc where the refs let us get mugged and injuring our roster robbing us of a potential Final 4 run.

If Pope uses the same analytics to build the roster as last season, but with more athletes, look out!

Chandler, once he gets his high school handles back, will be one. Basically limitless range and one of the most athletic guys on the team last year if not THE most athletic.

I think either of the freshmen guards could do it.

It's such a hard question because of the COVID year and so much talent staying in the NCAA each year. I don't feel like the are many players who can do what you suggest anymore.

You could see Chandler's confidence grow with each game. I think he will be really good when by the time he is done. Pope has already said that the physicality of the SEC shocked him and that he will change his recruiting to account for it. I think he is being choosy in the portal.

Florida is exactly the type of team you want to be in the tournament. 3 headed guard monster with the front court to stretch out or play in. It seems that they’ve cooled on the whole seal out down low.

Can’t downplay how special and ‘lucky’ the assemblage of Clayton, Richard and Martin to Florida was. Generational teams hard to come by but that three guard recipe can win 6 games.
