Playing not to lose has cost both programs major wins in the last few years.
We lost because Florida didn't leave our wide receivers wide open when we needed them to the most.
What sucks the worst is at least UT and UF beat us sometimes in basketball in an overall aspect..UK is ****ing 1-60 in the last 61 football games vs. those two. It's pathetic..it's an embarrassment to UK, the state, etc...not just the football team and us fans. Hell, even VANDY has managed to beat Florida AND Tennessee probably 4/5 more times than we have since 1986 !! UGH. It's disgustingly horrible.
How can everyone say "same old crap"? This is NOT the football we've been watching the past decade or more. Yea, I'm puking my guts out and can't sleep. But Stoops has elevated our program and deserves more credit.
I feel bad for the young men playing the game as they should have won this game. As for the coaching, I will stay out of that arena.

Right now, people are just reacting to a heart breaking loss. But, that game last night was one we should have won or AT LEAST we should have made Florida earn it. Lack of coaching gave it to the Gators. 10 men on the field and completely uncovered receivers just cannot happen in 4th down situations and final minute situations when the game is on the line.
Sorry, didn't realize this team had lost 31. You do know that all of the kids on this team weren't alive for a number of those 31 losses right?
I agree with what you're saying, the program and overall talent is much better, but the blunders..... Come on, that hasn't changed.
I get it, missing a defensive assignment one time is bad, but understandable to a point, but twice? Out of timeouts? Same old, same old.
I agree wholeheartedly that the result is typical, but this team and these players are far from the typical ones we've seen so many times in the past. I've watched since the 1960s, and this team has by far more athletes and better players than most of the Kentucky teams in that span of fifty years. could almost argue that in the 50+ years of watching, we have the least positive history of any major college football program. However, last night, we went toe to toe with a team that beat us 45-7 last year. The talent gap is less. Things have improved, this team is still worthy of our respect and our following, and will be back with a vengeance, or at least should feel good about our dramatic effort last night. We should be back full force to attack the rest of their schedule. Last night should show them, and does show me, that every game on our schedule is winnable--we should not see one time a game where we are not competitive. In retrospect, we were probably a Jordan Jones away from winning--we certainly missed his talent and his energy, especially in terms of run defense.
Now, having said all that, I am frustrated with what I consider to be an uncanny repeat of events that always seem to be present in tough games for Kentucky. We seem to be beset with bizarre happenings that are so improbable, i.e., holding penalties on run plays, coaching errors, and receivers going unguarded, etc, that keep us from victory time and time again. So, yes, by that, the result is the same, a very typical outcome based on some typical bizarre events that may not be seen if you watched 100 games. That part of the Kentucky football scenario is just hard to explain, and in so doing, like last night, we have an uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Kentucky football is like the whorish wife who you keep naively thinking is capable of reform.

lol not nearly to the same level. Cal has had amazing success as UK coach. Stoops? Not so much. Kentucky football is still mediocre/ way less than average. As it always has been and probably always will be
It is the same old crap. Kentucky football blows yet ANOTHER golden opportunity. It happens all the time. Elevated our program? Sorta I guess. We’re getting better recruits ( but still way in the bottom half of the sec) when’s the last time we had some winnings records in the SEC? Ya....
Well prolly get 6 wins again this year, lose in our bowl and next year some will be saying “this is the year Kentucky breaks thru in football, we have the athletes !”

UK football is the only team who is historically under 500 with fans who act like its otherwise. I think the Bball success has made fball only fans somehow think UK fball should have a place on the national stage...

This is a piss poor UF team that should be 0-3
UF had TEN players suspended for the game.
UF has no legit QB, and was basically going with a de facto third stringer.
The game was at UK in front of the rowdiest UK crowd in years.
If ever we were going to end that streak, it should've been last night, for once everything seemed stacked in our favor. But nope, we STILL managed to choke it away.
Like you said, it doesn't seem to matter how messed up or bad UF is, as long as they're wearing UF uniforms we'll still find a way to lose.

I don't care what anyone says, there is no way, ever, against Florida, at any point, in any game, that Ky has had a 98.4% chance of winning!
We have had enough choke jobs in BB to fill Rupp Arena, Duke 92, Wisky, UCONN every year, UNC last second shot. No one came on here yapping about that like the BB freaks did after last night. Big boy sports is FB and JV is BB, sorry but college BB is like Lacrosse not much of a deal anymore. I am sorry for this as a die hard UK fan.
Don't know many that are FB only. Most love UK sports. The BB only crew gets old, no one cares about college BB but a few weeks and a few people. I love all UK sports and don't need the BB geeks to come on a UK board giving them hell. You suck if you do that as a fan,
college BB is JV compared to big boy sports, sorry and it does hurt as a UK BB fan. Wish our main sport carried the weight like it did back in the day. BB is 2 week deal in March. No more significant than that.
It is close to impossible to build a team to compete in the SEC. Even more damning than the 31 year losing streak to UF, we haven't been 2-0 in the conference since 1977.

It's football season. I'm as big a basketball fan as anyone, but it's not like the basketball team hasn't had crushing losses. Wisconsin, UNC, Indiana ring a bell the last three years.
Basketball season means very little until conference plays begins.
Again, it's football season and this team can still win a lot of games.
In every game, basketball or football, there is a losing team. We are so fortunate as a fan base to win 90% of our basketball games. Even our great program is not going to win all of them and you just referenced 5 "choke jobs" over the past 23 seasons. If we weren't winning so much, the losses wouldn't be so memorable. You should be more gratuitous for what UK has done for it's fans.
Kentucky Basketball is the Yankees, Patriots, Warriors, Alabama of our sport, little boy,JV or not. UK Fball is bad news bears and the Bengals

The teams you mentioned play in big boy arena's, Super Bowl, NBA Finals, College championship. College BB is about as far down the totem pole as women's gymnastics. Not a top tier sport when UGA, LSU, Bama put more in attendance then their BB teams. JV sport is being kind to college BB. Not a peep about it until February and a 2 week high.
Again I love my UK BB but accept the fact that we are great and noted for a sport that is not that viable anymore and is more middle school than college. Hurts that college BB is not popular and no one cares.
I for one couldnt care less where bball falls on some list of popularity and i imagine damn near 100% of fans dont either. When I wear UK bball gear, Im a King. Everyone knows it, everyone in the country knows it. We will always be Kings.
If someone could put together a video of all the bone headed plays the team and coaching staff made last night, set it to Benny Hill music that would about sum it up. Seriously it was like watching the Mud Dogs and Coach Klein.
