UK is at No. 24 in Baseball America's latest top 25 polls, so I decided to break down UK's season to this point. There were other positives and more negatives I could have hit on, as with any story, but I think most key points were met.

No mention of JaVon Shelby as a key player, though he does lead the team in home runs and is the best power option on the roster. He's hitting below .300 right now and did have a huge game against Georgia last Sunday, but more so wanted to hit on some other guys because most here know the type of player Shelby is.

Good piece, if our other 2 starting pitchers can get it together it would help tremendously. Beggs has twice as many victories 6, as Brown and Cody combined 3. It might be time to consider moving J Lewis or D Dwyer into the weekend rotation.
As far as our hitters, Coach Ecksteins' bunch has been good all year, White, McNeil, Recks, Becker and Mahan have been consistent, Shelby has a world of talent, and could bust out at any time. I wonder why Z Arnold is not getting any playing time, he has always been a good stick, but does not seem to get many AB's.

Excellent article but one thing about Shelby. In SEC play, he's only hitting .185. That's not going to get it done as a hitter.
