There are only certain things you can call a technical for that occur before a game starts or after game clock is 0. Jawing at someone is not one of them neither is fighting(we have seen fights and punches thrown in handshake lines before and they don't go back on the court and shoot free throws) if it occurs after time has expired. Now the SEC could suspend him or hand out some sort of punishment but the only danger of them getting tech free throws was if it occurred before the clock hit double zero and that is what the refs were looking at. If he had pushed or taunted before the clock expired it could be free throws .Where did I ever say that? They do. But what they DON'T do, is go up and yap directly in a player's face like Garrison did. Damned near 100% of the time that gets a technical in the regular course of a game.
Where do you come up with I "want it called on us"?
Fans aren't players.
It's obvious you're pretty emotional about this and insinuating a lot of stuff in my post. Some facts. Garrison played well and saved our tail. Garrison is ridiculously immature in actions and play (not a coincidence). The referees, had they called the technical, would've been completely warranted to do so. Had that happened and the OU player made both FTs, all the good that Garrison did would've been wiped away by some stupid immature decision to go yap directly in a players face (which, btw, doesn't happen nearly as frequently as some have said).
I agree with you, man. People going at refs over that but honestly we caught a break. He was acting ridiculous before the clock was 0.00, almost costed us the game. We also wouldn’t have been able to win that game without Garrison’s great defense. He needs to show some composure though. What he did at the end of the game, almost getting a T was stupidity at its finest. Act like you've been there before.
Last night he played well, going back home and having family there helped, but with all that he could have been the cause of us almost losing that game, the game is official not over even after the horn until the officials leave the court, and he put the officials in an awkward situation, Shows maybe wanted to give him a tech and the other two voted against it, but with different officials we probably would be on the losing end. I know emotions were high, but learn to control them and win with class, even after that he was still mouthing off, can't control the other team, but we are Kentucky.
AS LONG AS THE OFFICIALS ARE ON THE COURT.There are only certain things you can call a technical for that occur before a game starts or after game clock is 0. You are correct that the game is not official until the refs leave the court. That does not mean they can call a technical after the clock has reached Zero. Yes refs have been on the court when fights broke out in handshake lines and no techs were called. The refs specifically stated they were looking at the monitor to see if anything occurred BEFORE time expired.AS LONG AS THE OFFICIALS ARE ON THE COURT.
That's the "end of the contest". Officials aren't around for handshake lines.
It most definitely can be called, maybe you are blind he did more than just jawing, the game is not officially over until the officials leave the court, that's why you see them run off most of the time, and officials are in the locker room when the handshakes begin, I have officiated for 10 years, trust what I'm telling you. There are only certain things you can call a technical for that occur before a game starts or after game clock is 0.
