Wanted to see what our draw really looked like ... I pulled a "RPI" rank from this website: https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/rpi-ranking/rpi-rating-by-team ... got some interesting results.

One thing to note, I tried to refresh the site and the data has already been taken down! Probably bc it shows the NCAA to be a fraud and all of their freaking bias.

Let's look at RPI for each team (for the play-ins, take the team with the higher RPI for benefit of the doubt). Then, remove the 15 and 16 seeds because they bias the results so much.
Midwest - 27.6 average RPI (4 Top 10s, 5 Top 20s and 13 Top 50s)
South - 33.1 average RPI (2 Top 10s, 6 Top 20s and 10 Top 50s)
East - 34.2 average RPI (2 Top 10s, 3 Top 20s and 12 Top 50s)
West - 36.5 average RPI (2 Top 10s, 6 Top 20s and 9 Top 50s)

So ... did we get the easiest bracket? Well ... NO. We're in THE ONLY bracket with more than 2 "Top 10" teams. Double that ... we have 4 Top 10 teams. Also, we are the 4th ranked team (by RPI) in our bracket! As a 2 seed!! The only other "2 seed" that is not the 2nd highest RPI is in the West.

Nine of the 16 seeds in the Midwest are higher than the comparative seeds in the South.
Ten of the 16 seeds in the Midwest are higher than the comparative seeds in the East.
Ten of the 16 seeds in the Midwest are higher than the comparative seeds in the West.

Dook's bracket is the 2nd easiest according to RPI and has ONLY 3 Top 20 teams. (Show of hands ... who is surprised????) What a freaking joke.

West is easiest overall, but does have twice as many Top 20 teams (6) than Dook's weak region.

Guys ... according to the RPI, we have the toughest bracket.

Well there’s a few posters that say we have the easiest path, I think they formed that opinion yesterday.

Why would anyone use the RPI to do this?

Only because it fits their agenda.

Use the Massey composite rating and then re-do this exercise.

Let's look at NET (for you pansies itching about RPI) and for the play-ins, take the team with the higher NET for benefit of the doubt. Then, remove the 15 and 16 seeds because they bias the results so much.
Midwest - 36.7 average NET (3 Top 10s, 6 Top 20s and 10 Top 50s)
South - 34.1 average NET (2 Top 10s, 4 Top 20s and 11 Top 50s)
East - 37.4 average NET (2 Top 10s, 5 Top 20s and 10 Top 50s)
West - 36.3 average NET (3 Top 10s, 5 Top 20s and 11 Top 50s)

So ... did we get the easiest bracket? Well ... NO. Both our bracket and the West have 3 Top 10 teams. Also, we are the 2nd ranked team (by NET) in our bracket BEHIND HOUSTON, the 3 seed!!

Only six of the 16 seeds in the Midwest are higher than the comparative seeds in the South.
Eleven of the 16 seeds in the Midwest are higher than the comparative seeds in the East.
Eight of the 16 seeds (perfectly even?) in the Midwest are higher than the comparative seeds in the West.

Dook's bracket is the easiest according to NET. (Show of hands ... who is surprised????) What a freaking joke.

South may be the toughest. East is easiest overall. Midwest and West pretty even.

Bonus ... I also removed all teams with NET of 100 or more (seeds 13-16). Results: Midwest - 26.3, South - 25.8, East - 27.8, West - 26.8.

My problem with NET is Texas Tech was #10 and Va Tech was #11. Seems kinda high IMO.

BTW, @JRow ... you're welcome! :)

Or because it was the first rating i could think of and what came up first. But it did fit my agenda.

I'm not worried, but Iowa St and Auburn are playing well right now. They wasted a lot of good teams in the same region in the Midwest that I think would have upset a good deal of other teams in other regions. I think Wofford and SH could have gotten someone if not in our region. Same for Iowa St and Auburn. HOU too. We are just all together so they lose and we win. But there are a good deal of teams in the Midwest that could have made life tough for some of the well-seeded teams if in other regions.

According to net, our bracket is the ONLY bracket that does not have one of the top 3 teams in it. Therefore, it is the easiest bracket for Kentucky.

Here are the breakdown by region from hardest to easiest based on the Massey Composite ranking system along with # of Quad 1 (top 30) teams.

South - avg. Massey rating of 46.38 (7 top 30 teams)
West - avg. Massey rating of 49.63 (7 top 30 teams)
Midwest - avg. Massey rating of 49.75 (8 top 30 teams)
East - avg. Massey rating of 53.19 (8 top 30 teams)

I think the bracket is ok. UNC and Kansas are not as good as billed. Both have questionable wins and I think both are seeded too high. Houston as a 3-seed? I'll gladly take that. Seton Hall or Wofford. Absolutely.

And then Virginia/tenn/Purdue in the final4?

A lot of teams we have beaten, or should have beaten if not for some unreal circumstances.
