Bowl Games —- Comparison

SEC might be top heavy, but right now it’s looking like the Big 10 is only middle heavy.

Any objective football fan would recognize how weak the SEC (by SEC standards) was below those top two this year.
Dude you are dumber than creek rock. And every piece of evidence about conference rankings since i Have been looking at it since the early 90’s says so…this year, next year every year or whatever. One year out of every 10? Who cares.

Arkansas just beat a 7-6 Penn State team. Kentucky’s win over Iowa is good though. Still doesn’t change that it’s a top heavy league.

So basically all the best teams won (pause on ole miss and a and m got covid 19 bs) so by your standard the big 10 is a dog crap not even top heavy league and thus the sec is still by far the best conference.

Big 10 has not lost one yet, need to change that trend and quickly

It sure did change. Big 10 lost 4 in a row and is now 5-4. Meanwhile the SEC won 4 in a row and is now 5-5. Ohio State is currently behind in the Rose Bowl. SEC still has Ole Miss and LSU with games to play.

I think college football has a massive parity problem. It is basically women’s college basketball levels. Regardless of conference, it’s the same teams every year where you hope you get one new face. The rest is essentially arguing about the NiT tournament.

Of course the SEC is strong at the top, but it is the middle where it was historically weak this year and today's results will bear that out and add to the dominance of the Big 10 this year as clearly the strongest overall conference. A clean sweep by the Big 10 today is highly possible.
Man, you are really bad at this..... :D :D :D :D

Welp. Iowa and Penn State couldn't beat those weak SEC teams today. Must mean the Big 10 is even weaker.

That's fair. I don't disagree.

4 SEC teams have won titles, some multiple titles, this century. Another has chance to make it 5 teams.
Any other conference got more than one?

Everyone also forgets to mention that the SEC is also always playing up. Every game the SEC plays up 1 or 2 spots at least in finishing order against the other conferences. For instance Iowa was B1G 3 vs UK which was SEC 4. It’s like that in every game.

Two teams in the CFP this year that had never been in it.

How does that prove that THIS year was not a top heavy league for the SEC?

I don’t really understand your logic/argument…it isn’t like the SEC champ was playing a middle of the pack Big Ten team.

Coming into the game, Ark was 8-4 and PSU was 7-5.

Ark was 3rd team in their division, PSU was 4th in theirs.

Define top heavy…

were Bama and UGA better than the rest of the league…of course.

However, I think Ole Miss, aTm, Ark, and UK would’ve been competitive enough to have a chance to win other leagues like the Big 12 and the ACC.

So, I don’t think it’s just BAMA & UGA then a bunch of scrubs.

The SEC ain't just two teams was my point. Never has been. If the SEC is top heavy as you say. What does that make other conferences?

The SEC has 14 teams. Pretty logical that some of them will not be very good. But year and year out, the SEC is the best conference by a long shot.

How many teams from the Big 10 besides OSU have won a title this century? How many from Big 12? How many from the PAC 10? Only the ACC with FSU and Clemson have more than one team.
SEC has 4 maybe 5 after next Monday. That would be 5 out of 14. Nobody else is even in the same stratosphere.

To be fair, Penn state had all those opt outs, and they beat a Bo Nix Auburn team in the regular season which was one of the better teams in the league with him behind center.

I dont think its a bunch of scrubs really, I just think that the depth of the league is a little overrated. As a whole, I think the group of UK, Arky, UT, MS State, Texas A&M, and Auburn is that great to where you can say the middle of the conference is just so much more dominant and better than others like say the Big 10..

Ok... thats cool and all, but what are you making all those points about the past for? I never said the SEC wasnt the best conference lol.

Auburn finished last in the SEC West. Penn State had a decent win over them at home by 8.

That’s fair, which is why I was trying to clarify your top heavy statement.

My question, though, is if most of the middle of the pack SEC teams beat the middle/upper level teams from other conferences, doesn’t that reinforce the argument for the strength of the SEC?

I agree that the middle of the SEC hasn’t dominated/blown those teams, but they are still wins.

True, admitley getting into hypotheticals but that win came with Bo Nix at QB, and with Bo nix at QB they probably win that USC game at the end of the season and would wind up finishing #3 in the division.

What are you saying then? Maybe make a point then I can understand what you are trying to say.
The past? What does that even mean. Every season is the past except for this one. You're not making much sense.

But the middle of B10 has wins over the middle of the SEC as well. Purdue over UT and Penn State Over Auburn. You also have a MS State team getting blown out by a Mid tier Big 12 team with tons of opt outs and 3 of UF, Mizzu, and Auburn losing to non P5 teams. Just dont think it was a good showing especially in bowl season for that certain grouping of the conference.

Lots of speculation by you to try and prove your points.

Your bringing up the number of titles from this century for the conference to argue my point that the mid part of the SEC is a tad overrated this season and having a bad showing in bowl season. How is that relevant?

Just seems you want to downplay the SEC for some reason. Bitter I guess. Don't know.
YOu want to try and downplay SEC wins by saying teams had a lot of opt outs, UK had a bnch of players out today and still won. Just think you're a hater with an axe to grind.

That's not all I said in that post. Also, you said the SEC is top heavy. Explain then. What's the number of teams that make them top heavy?

Ok, both teams at full strength, who won? Penn State or Auburn?
Penn State. Auburn was last in their divison. Game was at Penn State. What's your point?
UK wasn't full strength today. Not by a long shot and still won. SO what's your point?

How am I downplaying the SEC by pointing out terrible performances. UK beating Iowa down a couple of guys was a great win. Never said it wasnt. I just gave you like 5 results this bowl season of the mid part of the SEC playing like crap, and your response is "of your just downplaying the SEC".

UK and Arky both won, which is great. How did UT, Mizzu, Florida, MS State, and Auburn do? Im talking about that mid-tier as a whole.
