Bourbon of choice tonight?

Bulleit 10.... trying to find a bottle of pappy 15 to hold on to for march if anyone has a connect on a reasonably priced bottle.

Willett Family Estate. An no, not the Pot Still schwag. Gift shop releases or older store picks are on my agenda. Will probably start with a nice 22-year barrel B49 or B49C, then work over to a McScrooge's barrel 789 11-year. After that, a 13-year sounds delicious.

Four Roses SB for me tonight.

that's good stuff, met the guy that cooks it at a golf scramble a few years back and he gave me a glass of the 100 proof. Was the smoothest i'd ever drank. Bought a bottle the next day but it wasn't as smooth. Must have been drunk for the first tasting. Still, good bourbon.

"cooks it"?o_O

clear and untaxed and waiting in my freezer.

I've got a bottle right here next to the couch. One more buzz left in it. Used to be a half gallon but I sip on it from time to time.

Not a buzz left in it. Might do shots of tequila and chase them with shine.

E H Taylor. Finished the single barrel recently, so will be uncorking the small batch tonight.

GO CATS!

No bourbon for me. Got wasted too many times on bootleg bourbon as a youngster growing up in Floyd County. Now an avid Scotch fan; Chivas Regal.

Blantons!!!
If you haven't tried it you're missing out.
Sure, junior. Blanton's is THE single most over-priced low taste bourbon in history of distilling. Who doesn't know that? It's the cute bottle with a horse on top that should have clued you.

Pappy. There is no further discussion.

The liquor store by me put some on the shelf behind the counter for $300. I laughed. Went in yesterday and they still had it. I said " still have those bottles huh? Price still the same?" He said "yea". I laughed again and said "good luck".

I have bottles of Pappy 23 in the past, but none in the last two years. They ran about 350 here in Florida. Can't imagine there is a 10 year old worth more than a 23 yr. old Van Winkle. All taste and wallet size this week, I guess.

If you're talking the most recent Van Winkle releases, then there are tons better than this thin crap they're putting out to replace the old Stitzel-Weller juice.

Barrel proof or bust is what I say.

Blantons isn't that bad for a 6yr old bourbon. However, at $50 to $60, it's totally overpriced.

As for "Pappy...no discussion", there is a discussion. PVW 23 is totally overpriced and over oaked. PVW 20 is solid at around $150 and the PVW 15 107 is my fav of the group.

But...GT Stagg, William Larue Weller, Four Roses 2015 Limited Edition Small Batch, Four Roses Barrel Proof 10-recipe retailer picks, the WFE gift shop bourbons The Dude mentioned above are as good as the VW line-up. Of course, personal taste is...personal, so to each their own.

I had some of the PVW 13yr rye during the Vandy debacle Saturday night. It was on point.

Uh, WTF is your deal? Are you going to do this every time I post? I don't recall ever crossing paths with you.
Maybe you are Boston's illegitimate child.

Might want to check on that. Just sayin...
Is Jack Daniel's a bourbon?
Jack Daniel's is not a bourbon - it's a Tennessee Whiskey. Jack Daniel's is dripped slowly - drop-by-drop - through ten feet of firmly packed charcoal (made from hard sugar maple) before going into new charred oak barrels for aging. This special process gives Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey its rare smoothness. It's this extra step - charcoal mellowing – that makes Jack Daniel's a Tennessee Whiskey.---jackdaniels.com
