Booker...

I've read about a zillions threads that talk about Booker's poor defense but I always thought he was decent. I'm no pro scout but I think he's gonna be a pretty good pro player. He has such a smooth stroke on his shot it looks like it's going in every time. I thought he always seemed to finish well around the basket too.

Sorry my comments didn't please a lot of the type of UK fans that give us a bad name with just about everyone who isn't a UK fan. What's hilarious is that the people who make these snipes actually think I give a damn what they say. In a few years time we'll see if slow Devin can play with quick and well built NBA players. In te meantime, go look at yourself in the mirror if you really believe you're that smart. You're in for some bad news when you take that look. Bye.

So essentially, you're saying you're the one right person between a ton of other equally qualified observers AND NBA scouts and writers. It may be you who needs to look in the mirror, if you can fit that inflated ego in frame.

No, I'm not a scout. But I see the NBA and I see what the NBA wants, and 6'7'' guys with real potential to become a knock down shooter. No, they don't care about his 41% or "inconsistencies," they care that 1. his form is excellent 2. he performed well in the pre draft athletic drills and 3. He's not even 19 yet. All that adds up to "potential steal" and they're more than willing to draft and develop that. Sounds like that take is "smarter" than your take.

Your negative comments are 100% related to us not beating Wisconsin, period. If Devin shot 33% all year and we win the title going away, your post never happens. If he stayed another year here, you would not be critical of his skills, even though the skills would be the same. YOU ARE BUTTHURT OVER A 18 YEAR OLD KID NOT DOING EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT HIM TO DO, and that's it. There's no skill or observation you have in your posts. You're only seeing what you see because we didn't win and he left the program you hold so dear. YOU'RE JUST BUTTHURT. YOU. ARE. BUTTHURT. OVER. BOOKER. Deal with that sooner rather than later, or you'll just grow to be jaded and bitter.

Well, the OP could be correct that he may not make it in the NBA. He was up and down during his time at UK. Started ice cold, got hot and finished cold. There's no argument he was flat abused on the defensive side of the ball against Wisconson.

But look at his upside. He's young, is a good slasher, and has a solid pedigree. His shot looks good, just has to get more consistent. But I think he could go either way in the pros. But I would take a Booker every year at UK. It's just the Op's post comes off as nothing but an upset fan still steamed UK didn't win and sent 7 to the pros

He was drafted 17th by the Celtics chief.

Yep, you are correct and I am wrong. I will own it. Had 13 on my mind because that is his number. He was drafted 17th sure enough. My mistake.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is several years away and is never anything but a role player, but being in the lottery is probably his ceiling, so I don't blame him.

why people act like a role player in the NBA is a terrible thing amazes me.

its like the only way you get any respect from fans is if you are an all star in year 1.

was very inconsistent in his shooting at UK and was a terrible liability on defence. Had we not had WCS and KAT to erase the gazillion times his man blew by him, he would have been scored on at will. His feet are way too slow to ever be a good defensive player. Let me add that great players want the ball when the game is on the line, Against Wisconsin when we choked on 5 straight possessions, we all noticed that Booker ran away from the ball and wanted no part of taking what would have been a wide open shot with Wisconsin packing it in around KAT. Both Booker and Lyles were suddenly invisible and that makes me question their heart. I for one do not see Booker as ever being a great NBA player and it would not surprise me if he ended up in tne D League for a few years and faded away.
Bla Bla Bla ...........shut up! we lost get over it !

Listening to the MJ show reminded me of this thread.

Booker is getting drafted in the lottery because of that period in January-February, and is benefiting from the success of Golden State. GM's want the next Splash Brother.

I expect he'll probably start out his career slowly, people will say "this guy was drafted that high?" and then settle in to a consistent role on a team. He'll be fine. I think he's a solid role player on an NBA team(s) for many years.

NBA teams don't care about the Wisconsin game, we do. That's it.

Booker was ice cold, then scorching hot, then cold again. Streaky as a shooter, no matter how anyone wants to argue otherwise. His really underrated skill was finishing in transition; where he was fantastic.

Spotty ballhandler under pressure. Cost us a few turnovers or timeouts against pressure in the tournament because he either ran from the ball or his teammates didn't have confidence in passing him the ball against pressure. Good on the ball, perimeter defender. Lacks toughness; was beasted down low every time versus Wisconsin. Was a disappointing rebounder, with the exception of a few games.

Very incomplete player. But the kids young, so plenty of time to develop. As another poster said, lottery was always his ceiling. So I definitely don't blame him for going.

funny seeing so many now bashing booker...everyone RAVED about him during the season and wanted to see him get more time then aaron.

the second a player does something for himself....

Its a toss up sometimes on who makes it and who doesn't. But even saying he's slow or doesn't play good defense doesn't mean he won't make it. Heck even Macy played around 8 years in the pros and he was pretty slow and a poor defender while he was there. Booker is 18, I believe, so some NBA scouts who grades players are thinking potentially he can get bigger, stronger, and faster in the future and could be a great player so like you we will just have to wait and see.

Where did you get that impression from what I said? It's a little frustrating because he's one of those guys who would be a sure thing to come back if it wasn't for coming here, but he's a lottery pick so I don't blame the guy for jumping.
