Bill Self loses by 29??

Everyone is losing. College basketball is made up of mercenaries that the blue bloods and Schools with the most money can buy. They won't be successful and mid major teams will start winning championships. It's already slowly been happening.

I bet against Kansas here because they had a quick turnaround, were banged up, and Tech is hard to beat at home. That said, I didn't expect them to lose by this much!

Meh…I can want Cal gone and say that this year is different than any year in recent memory in the number of losses that ranked teams have.
Once again, you're ignoring what he's trying to say.

Yes you are impartial. But these kinds of comments are an attempt to prop up Cal. And there aren't any more losses this year than any other year.

Houston and UNC will lose 3-4 more games. UCONN 1-2 more. Even the "top" teams aren't great this year
UNC plays in the ACC which his hot garbage this year. There's no way they lose 4 more games. I watched a little of the Duke game last night and they should thank the good Lord above that the ACC is so bad this year or they would have 10 losses.

They are also missing their best scorer outside of Dickinson

They could miss half their team for all I care. Kentucky dealt with like half their team being in an out, and I was told here that someone like Cal and a program like UK, was just supposed to get the next man up.

Same applies to Bill Self and Kansas. Ain't trying hear about one guy being out when they lose by 29. Next man up. If self is as good as some think he is, the replacement guy should be just as good.

(That's not aimed at you, just this general notion that when a team like KU and Duke loses because of an injury, everyone seems to give them the excuse. Kentucky could literally have only 4 available players and the response would be "well That's Cals fault").

The excuses for other coaches is the pettiest stuff I see. Politician-like stuff.

Truth be told, I DO think an injury matters. I think if a coach all the sudden losses a player, that can throw the entire team off, ruin the game plan, etc. In your line of work, if you lose a very good "tool", doesn't that affect your productivity for the day?

But, that's not the narrative we set, and not just "we" but the rest of college basketball. For some reason we give excuses to K and Self when they have guys out. Cal doesnt get the same treatment. If Cal should have won games without his pair of bigs, or without DJ wagner.. then Self should have won last night. End of discussion IMO.

Only Cow sucks. CCC can’t coach but everybody else can. They just run out of time or have injuries, never their fault. Something like that….

In reality every coach in every sport looks like garbage quite often. Look at Belicheat without Brady. Dude can’t even find a job. Shanahan has barfed all over himself when it counts. Self can’t win a road game. Oats burned in flames in last years tourney. Pearl’s team ABSOLUTELY quit on him in last year’s NCAA tournament game. On and on.

Yes. It’s time for Cal to move on. But to act like he’s the only one that struggles is hilarious.

Difference is Couch Cal has been slinging shit for how many years now?

Not too many 9-16 clunker comparisons out there from the top paid coach aspect, particularly when blending in the consistent failure in postseason, and all with rosters of 4 and 5 stars no less.

The talent has been apparent everywhere except in one glaring spot - the head coach.

It's somewhere in between for me. Injuries or not, there were still some massive oversights in recruiting, playing the wrong guys, not having the right game plan. Even if UK is fully healthy, we probably still have 3-5 losses.

But I also won't pretend that injuries don't matter. If Kansas can get a pass on 29-pt loss because ONE guy didn't play, then the same applies to us. When you don't have your full roster, your potential for wins takes a hit.

What am I ignoring? I want Cal gone. His losses this year (especially at home) are unacceptable. There are also other teams who have had losses.

You are incorrect about losses throughout the nation this year not being different from previous years. I posted this a few weeks ago:

Here are how many teams in the AP poll have 0 or 1 losses in the week 11 poll by year over the last 20 seasons:

2024 - 0
2023 - 3
2022 - 2
2021 - 5
2020 - 6
2019 - 7
2018 - 2
2017 - 6
2016 - 3
2015 - 4
2014 - 8
2013 - 8
2012 - 4
2011 - 8
2010 - 5
2009 - 6
2008 - 10
2007 - 3
2006 - 5
2005 - 5

What's great about this year is that every time we embarrass ourselves with a bad loss, some other top team steals the spotlight mere day(s) later.
