Bill Belichick offers Vince Marrow

If the two GOATS of modern sports history can’t get talent to UNC…Vince Marrow showing up to point his fingers at a kid ain’t going to work either.

Jordan Brand U combined with The Hoodie inc should suffice.

It appears that he stays. Standard Marrow flirtations. They probably have a couple weeks marked on their yearly offseason schedules for it.

It would surprise me too if they were giving him a position coach. I could see them putting him somewhere in their new org structure to acquire players but a guy like Belichick doesn’t seem like he would want to burn a coaching spot on a guy that has very little rep for it. Again, he was recruiting for Nebraska as a GA.

Belichick will be a train wreck disaster as a college coach, Marrow is too smart to get mixed up in that
UNC made the dumbest hire in the history of football
Don't know if I would go that far but at his age, even if he is the right guy for a year or two . . . .He's still not the right guy

Why wouldn't he be? This logic operates under the old assumption that your coach needs 10 years to build a program and will have to be there a long long time for continuity. Indiana University and NIL destroyed that old paradigm. UNC NIL donations have increased 4 to 6 times what it was under the previous coach just for hiring Bill Bellichek. I would wager that UNC will be a contentender in year one for their conference and whether they win big or not in year 1 or 2, the mere optics around hiring the goat is huge for a program like UNC.

The people that want Vince gone blow my mind. Do you guys just not know how rosters are constructed or do you just hate stoops so bad that you want everybody associated with him gone?

Vince M isn’t really a coach. He’s the recruiting coordinator. Every high level kid was brought here by Vince. Wandale, Bowden, snell, Crod, everybody. They all came here for Vince. The big all sec OL we just signed today, that was Vince. Jasper Johnson…..yes that Jasper Johnson, on the basketball team…he was hand deliver to Pope by Vince.

Stoops is on our shitlist, but we still need to feed the program man. We still need to recruit players and recruiting is literally one of the only bright spots around the program. Because of Vince.

Make me understand. Where is your head at with this ?
I think the thought process there is that we need a total house cleaning after several years of declining results and hearing all the reports about having culture problems this year. Vince is one of Stoops’s right hand men, so he seems like a good place to start if we can’t actually fire the head coach.

I’m not personally there yet. I’m not convinced that the general direction of the program will change much as long as Stoops remains, and losing our best recruiter could just make things worse. I am getting a little tired of his seemingly frequent flirtations with other programs though. If he’s really committed and these reports are just smoke from outside sources, then that’s unfortunate. If his agent or someone else close to him is responsible for these rumors as a way to try and leverage more perks out of us in order to keep him as some suspect, he’d really be better off laying low for a bit. We’re not really at a point in the trajectory of our program for that kind of stunt to generate any positive feelings.

You are probably right, I stand corrected, it is only in the top 3 dumbest hires in the history of football

He can’t spell or even coach his position.

Yet He creates multi page threads worrying that an illiterate, who can’t coach, will leave.

America.

Not sure how the Bellichick experiment is going to work out. But I am thinking a train wreck. He has been a my way or no way kind of guy. Pro players had no choice, they were under contract, college players can laugh at him above on.

As fo Marrow, he has always been the recruiter, and his on field coaching was his secondary responsibility. If schools go add a position for acquiring players full time with no on field duties that would be CVM's cup of tea.

The reason there is talk of leaving and then no exit is that no organization in their right mind is going to pay Marrow or Stoops the kind of money UK is paying them.

I think it could have worked 10 years ago but dude isn’t gonna coach there until he’s 85 and wait until he meets the Kids who wanna play just for money and think they are hot shit, the Pros they could cut them…

Honestly I’m not sure why this hasn’t happened yet

That is my thinking also, this stuff isn't rocket science. How does whoever made this decision not see this coming. Belichick is so far removed from college football today he has no chance to succeed . I feel bad for him.

He’s never been a college guy. Usually it’s college guys going to pros. Rarely does it work out the other way. Even Chip Kelly couldn’t get it back after he left for the pros and returned.

Why feel bad for Belichick? It's a paycheck, another few years of recognition, and an opportunity to identify his next trophy girlfriend.

I have the feeling his son will be running the show as the coach in waiting. Much like Biden was keeping the seat warm for Harris. Only Harris didn't deliver on her part of the plan.

Belichick is a legend for what he did in New England, He will be a laughing stock in college football. Money and a trophy wife will ease the pain a great deal

Surprise, surprise. Vince Marrow’s name comes up yet again. I might get blasted for this stance, but if he goes, it’s a “Well… see ya!” from me. He’s as much part of this death spiral as anyone, being our alleged lead recruiter. They complain about our roster and the culture that’s been created. Who would have the biggest hand in that but the lead recruiter? Also seems to love getting attention more than an Only Fans model, but we’ve known that for quite a while.

:::EDIT::: Big Dog evidently staying!!

I love Big Dog and I DON'T WANT to lose him but if he goes I would understand. Belichick is an absolute legend.

I can't see any sane organization matching his salary or Stoops salary.
Don’t disagree but hindsight is 20/20. I’ve been softly complaining about him for years and it always provoked strong pushback even being soft. The conventional wisdom was he was invaluable and to keep giving him raises. Anything less would be a character indictment of MB.

How bout Duke supposedly paying the Tulane qb 8 million over 2 years. 4 million a year!
Multiple bidders driving up prices and teams prioritizing their NIL in weird ways makes all this interesting! Maybe Duke has all the pieces except a QB so they’ll overspend for, what is to me, a weak QB transfer class

Originally it looked like he was bringing all these top players in. The more I look at the guys he’s brought in, more flop than make it. Add to that the problems with character, attitude of team, then watch him throw a tantrum on X. This team needs leadership not that garbage

That is ludicrous if true. The ncaa needs to get a handle on this. College sports are ruined.
Name, Image and Likeness my a$$….. None of these players should know what they’ll make until after they’re already at their next school. If the NIL worked like it was supposed to work! This is worse than the pro free agency at least they have a salary cap! This they’re naming their price before going to their next school!

Wat we have now is clearly 90% of the players auctioning themselves to the highest bidders Cutrently that's 1 of 7-8 schools, if they are involved that's where the kid goes, at least for awhile. Some have opted out at 4 games to redshirt and transfer again, in the pros they are under contract. What we have is free movement to the highest bidder at any point. How can any organization function under those conditions? Now we have kids sueing to extend eligibility, and getting it. Better yet how much longer will we need 100k stadiums, we may only need a few temporary bleachers. That's probably a stretch, but it doesn't excite me like it did 3-5 years ago.

Grumpy- I am in my 70’s- but been a lifer into college football. This year has turned me off so bad that I will not be attending many if any games in the future. It has been my main entertainment the last 5 years - been making 7 games a year including 2 road games. But the excitement is gone for me. I agree - stadiums may be full - but not for people like me attending. I would not be excited if I was a college student now either - it might have mean’t more in the SEC before - but not to me now. Adapt or die is the new plan - but that doesn’t include old school guys in my opinion. 100 inch TV’s now cost less than one season ticket to an average sec team’s games. That’s ridicoulous as well!

Go Big Blue!
