Bill Belichick offers Vince Marrow

I said a couple weeks ago that all our tight ends leaving us telling. I do think Vince is willing to make the jump now more than ever. Will be interesting to see how the money plays out.
Vince is only TE coach for a name. He is the recruiting coordinator. The guys that left were the backups and wanted a better situation. I hope you’re right but I really doubt that says he is leaving

If our recruiting was so good then why were we so bad this year? Smoke and mirrors. We get our players hyped up by the media and coaching staff. Expectations go up . However results speak for themselves. 7-6 and then 4-8. Our wins are mostly against directional schools and we challenge for last place in our conference. And unfortunately even the great Larry Vaught and Jack Pilgram have stated that there is little chance we have a winning record in 2025 . If our recruiting as so great why is our OL so bad? Coaching ? Perhaps. But lack of talent? For sure!

You’re right about the TE position by name only. I really want him to stay for the recruiting. This past seasons results not withstanding, our recruiting has consistently improved over the years. He’s been responsible for all of our high impact kids. When he leaves we will see a dip in recruiting unless stoops is also gone and a new regime is here. Even still, they would have to be on their game. A top 25 class at Kentucky doesn’t come easy

Marrow leaving will more than likely be the final nail in the coffin of Stoops. Marrow does the dirty work and is the glue that holds everything together. Who cares how recruiting goes this season; there's a huge percentage chance we will have a new head coach in December 2025. I can't see Stoops and this staff pulling everything together to have a successful season. 2025 is going to be long and miserable for UK football and fans.

Have to weigh in one more time . Marrow has had much improved facilities to recruit players to than Phillips and Brooks thanks to Joe Craft and Mitch Barnhart. That is one of the major reasons our recruiting appears to be improved but unfortunately the recent results speak to a decline in recruiting especially on the O-line.

He’s definitely been a big boost to the program but like many coaches has gotten too comfortable over time and has yet to have a TE drafted

I know it’s a small position group but that is very telling. Over 12 years and not a single guy drafted. I can’t think of another position on our team that is true. WR would probably be next tho. I know Wandale was drafted.

I think I would tell him to go unless he is the one in charge of the portal evaluations. I would much rather spend 1.3M on someone that can develop a plan in the portal.

High school recruiting is about relationships the portal is a business transaction. For programs like UK the portal is the path forward until things change.

Wandale, Levis, ray are about all i can think of that got drafted on O. At least from skill guys. Crod and benny were drafted late too i think.

Fortner was our highest drafted ol. We had a few others but they were really late.

Almost all our picke over years were on defense. Every one of those guys projects but some drafted very high. Deonne will be the first highly rated incoming gut we'll put in iirc.

Is there an answer to the question in that thread? I didn't see the answer concerning morrow.
I think the moderator moved the thread's content to this thread, which was a good idea.
The "Vince Marrow" thread is suspended ... all talk regarding the VM issue is in this thread now.
fwiw

No info, but he will be staying again.. very excited about turning it around. Knows this is the team to get it done.
Unfortunately that’s the same guy leaking to espn and all local media for the last couple of seasons we might be overtaking Georgia in the East, had our most talent ever, etc….

I’m patiently awaiting a tweet saying “Don’t worry BBN… I’m blue for life. We got this.”

… at which time I’ll let out the sigh of indifference and look forward to the announcement of his new contract terms while the Youngstown boys slap hands under the table for another season making a fortune while underachieving our generally mediocre expectations.

Vince isn't going to fix or kill the program either way he stays or goes, but I can 100% guarantee whoever will come in to replace him will be worse and will want nearly as much money.

If we’re gonna run it back with Stoops, might as well get Gran as RB coach, Dean Hood as special teams/safeties coach, and let Drake Jackson coach the OL. The retirement versions of Gran and Hood are better than what we’ve got now from a coaching and talent evaluation standpoint.

I say let grann run the offense

Like I said on the pay board he knows he's on a sinking ship. A great time to get out.
That’s how I see it. Louisville would have annoyed me and I think ultimately the rivalry is what kept him from making that jump.

Chapel hill and the greater Raleigh area is nice. HOF coach. Easier conference. Etc. His biggest hesitancy is probably wondering how long Bill would actually be at UNC due to age or if the NFL called

The people that want Vince gone blow my mind. Do you guys just not know how rosters are constructed or do you just hate stoops so bad that you want everybody associated with him gone?

Vince M isn’t really a coach. He’s the recruiting coordinator. Every high level kid was brought here by Vince. Wandale, Bowden, snell, Crod, everybody. They all came here for Vince. The big all sec OL we just signed today, that was Vince. Jasper Johnson…..yes that Jasper Johnson, on the basketball team…he was hand deliver to Pope by Vince.

Stoops is on our shitlist, but we still need to feed the program man. We still need to recruit players and recruiting is literally one of the only bright spots around the program. Because of Vince.

Make me understand. Where is your head at with this ?

People have let their misguided disdain for Stoops override their brain, if they have one. Old saying is: "Be careful what you wish for." That's exactly where we are.

I read part of an article from a source I generally trust. He said marrow wasn’t offered the job. He said marrow wasn’t offered the position. He may have been on their list

This... it's just the same hogwash we hear every year pushed by publicists to make it look like these coaches are wanted on the open market. Imo none of them are wanted at the price they are paid to coach here.
