Just spoke with Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles quarterback Mac Jones who was offered by Kentucky after camping on Saturday and visiting on Sunday. Definitely got a feeling that Kentucky's a major, major option for him. Obviously it's his first Power Five offer but that's not all. Shannon Dawson has loved this kid for a long time. When he was at WVU he had him camp, and he visited Bolles to check him out.
Jones is not the biggest kid but he's a very good athlete for a pro-style and Dawson cares a lot of about hand size, and Jones' hand size is that of a 6'3 kid, which factors into growth projection and just helps with gripping the football. Jones loves Dawson's offensive philosophy, he knows the QB depth chart isn't packed, and he liked the renovations going on -- something his mother, who is very involved in helping Jones as a recruit, says is important.
I know this kid is probably going to get substantially more attention but Kentucky's in it for the long haul, and he's going to likely make a decision at the end of his junior year or thereabouts. All things considered, have to feel good about where Kentucky sits right now. His accuracy is outstanding and he's known for throwing an exceptional spiral.
He also had a chance to meet Gunnar Hoak while visiting.
