He just can’t help himself, he has to run a horribly ineffective offense when he has a big in the game. It’s why I’ve been saying for a while now “be careful what you wish for”. That was no knock on our 3 7 footers, but Cal.

He was forced to come into modern times with no center, but now that he’s got at least one, we are right back to the archaic and ineffective offense.

He’s become a terrible coach and there’s no fixing it at this point.

Well, I had that same concern that the return of the the three 7 footers might coax Cal into returning to his old plodding big ball style.

It’s not a good omen that the first one of those guys we get back results in this happening the very next game.

Concern? Dude was warning everyone it was the plan! He kept going on and on in post game after wins about how he couldn’t wait to play Mitchell with Bradshaw and run the offense through them.

While we were blowing out top 10 teams he was ****ing talking about how he couldn’t wait to change what was working.

The man would bottle his own farts and save them for later. His head is so far up his ass that he’s gagging on his uvula.

Yeah, he’s like a leopard (can’t change his spots).

Not going to take a guy that's been injured for 6 months and have him racing up and down the court right away. Gotta ease him back and that's what happened today. This loss has little to do with Bradshaw.

I told folks on this board that Thiero was going to sit in favor of Edwards, Mitchell, and a big. They said it wouldn’t happen. They said Cal would play Mitchell at the 5 only. Well, for a good chunk of the second half, it happened. And it hurt us.
You also said we don’t need Wagner.

You also said we don’t need Wagner. You’re a moron
Does it occur to you that with Wagner we possibly lose worse? More missed threes, more hero ball, more missed baskets at the rim that lead to transition buckets for them?

Nope, I bet it doesn’t occur to you. Grab a tissue and head to the bathroom with your favorite picture of Cal.

Is it because of Bradshaw? No, of course not. But you can't help but shake your head and laugh regardless. We get a big guy back and for most of the game we looked like the same stagnant offense we've grown familiar with from Cal.

If you think Bradshaws brief time in the game seriously lead to the loss you werent watching.
It didn't "lead to the loss" but it showed us what lies ahead. Cal even said in pregame that they will play together when Bradshaw is in. Two turnovers resulted from the high/low game Cal always uses with his bigs .... we are going to see so much more of that coming soon to a tv screen near you.

I tried to tell you people Cal wasn't going to change. Eventually, if they ever play, he will have TWO seven footers in the game with Trey Mitchell. I GUARUNTEE IT! he absolutely can not help himself.

No, it doesn’t occur to anyone (except a clown like you) that it would have been worse with DJ.

I'm with the OP

I"m afraid this high scoring potent offense is out the window when Cal has to play his 1972 UCLA Bruins team

I dont disagree with you

Correct.

All of it!

Bradshaw led the team with a +11

But, yeah, the big guy was the problem tonight
You can do that with a very small sample size. OF COURSE Bradhsaw's +/- is better than Reed's, Reed played 35 minutes in a loss. WAs Bradshaw better than Reed? Jesus H Christ, man.

TWO turnovers from Mitchell trying to pass from up top to Bradshaw down low. You realize that's what's coming the rest of the season, don't you?

Wagner would have helped today for sure. We needed his defense on their guards, especially at the three point line and in isolation situations. Also, he could get to the rim on their guards and either score or draw fouls. Third, he would have given Cal an option when Reeves and/or Dillingham got out of control and careless with the ball.

I don’t think Bradshaw being back had any impact on the game outside of the team thinking it was some culmination/celebration today instead of a game against a competitive midmajor. This roster has two point guards. One who sat out and one who might as well have sat out. Getting nothing from that position will make the offense look worse.

Yes I know Cal wasted a few possessions trying to give Bradshaw opportunities in the first half but like others have pointed out we were fine with him on the floor.

You must've been watching a different game than me. The guy who started at point guard tonight scored 25 points, had 9 rebounds, 6 assists, a couple steals, and was clearly the best UK player on the floor.

I'd hardly call that "getting nothing from that position."

Big Z is better than Bradshaw and that’s the problem. He shots 3 s and can play away from the basket. Bradshaw clogs up the middle.

Guarantee you a healthy Wagner isn’t letting UNCW guards blow by him all night. That would have been the difference in the game. And most likely a UK win.

Making excuses for a loss at home to a Colonial conference cupcake is just off the flipping chart laughable.

Another year, another Quad 3/4 loss at home...

Bradshaw never took but one shot I think why does he even play if he is not going to be used poor coaching.

He played 13 minutes not mist of the game and we were plus 11 with him in
