Son: 6 years

Salute to all the Vets Today. This is your day. Let us know who you are.

Edit: I labeled this thread "sound off" because that is what you do every morning in the military to let them know, you are still there.

USAF, 1983 - 1991

1st year was basic and tech school
Years 2 & 3 were in Augsburg, Germany as a computer maintenance technician. I was in a mobility squadron and was stationed on an Army post....we were real popular. LOL!
Years 4 thru 8 were in Abilene, TX at Dyess AFB. Avionics technician on the B-1B bomber (I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of nuclear weapons on Dyess AFB....LOL!)

I was proud to serve, and was fortunate to have served with some folks who were top notch. Lots of hard work for very little pay, but we were highly motivated and the camaraderie of those days is something I've never experienced in the civilian world.

I was lucky to have served during peacetime, the first Gulf war occurred during my final months of enlistment and the B-1B was not deployed. My thanks to all who served and are currently serving in harms way and especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
