I have seen all the coverage of this, including Barkers comments, but missed whether these 2 guys ever commented on why they did nothing for Barker. Always wondered If they offered an explaination.
Did I miss it?
Not suggesting they should have gone 2 on 10, but a little concern for Barker would have been nice.

That would be considered racism if the roles were reversed but that only goes one way . Maybe Drew is an absolute mouthy punk and they were glad he got what was coming to him . Either way I wouldn't want them as teammates .

All I know is that Baker blocks his ass off on the field and fights for every yard. He can be on my team any time.

Their behavior was disturbing but so was the decision to go to the dorm in the first place.

Agreed. Seemed like "teammate" only goes so far, if you know what I mean.....

If you get knocked the touch out don't sweat the cap , they pick it up .
We don't know the full story. These are 18-19 year kids with a lot on the line. We can sit and say this and that and assume all night long but neither of us know the whole story.

They know over on KSR. Their resident drunk, Drew Franklin, relives the whole thing in pictures, all the while spelling names wrong, left & right. What a class act over there.

Why go to EKU in the first place? If you're going to go looking for trouble, at least bring your O-linemen and a few defensive players. DB just watched.

Me either. Maybe Barker is, or was mouthy that night, but his "pal" teammates obviously led him right into the den. They knew what was going to happen.

Talk about a situation where everybody looks likes fools.

The UK players should have never been there in the first place.

The EKU guy resorting to a sucker punch.

DuBose and Baker acting like they couldn't care less that their teammate is knocked out.

And KSR running something so low brow that it makes TMZ look like the New York Times.

Everyone involved could use a little maturity.

So I conclude that Baker and Dubose never offered an explaination.
It's clear they did not care about their teammate. Why they did not care is a mystery. Could have been Barker had it coming, so they did not intervene, could have been they were punks.
Either way, they all 3 were knuckleheads in that night.

Completely wrong. Couldn't be more wrong. Like it or not, their teammate is the one who dragged them to the football dorm on campus after they had been in a fight in a bar with another football player. Both guys told Barker it was an awful idea, but he insisted.

Ever have a buddy who insist on doing something stupid, who you patiently explain bad things are gonna happen, but they insist on doing it anyway? So when the bad stuff inevitably does happen because of their choices, you kinda sit back and say "see, told you, listen better next time".

Look at the vids & the pics, the UK guys were already outnumbered 15 to 1, with another 50 EKU reinforcements just upstairs.

Glad when this stupid game is over & this stupid topic is dead

All I know is, that if Baker and DuBose had jumped in, the whole thing probably turns REALLY ugly and all of them would probably be off the team right now.

I'm just glad that it didn't turn out to be a worse situation than it did.

Baker and Barker are going to be very important players for us for the next 2 or 3 years.

It is pretty odd. Growing up plenty of friends did stupid shit that got us in bad situations, but I couldn't imagine backing down if one of them got sucker punched. It's kind of pathetic regardless of what the reason is. Fact is that in situations like that there are two sides, and if your there you need to choose. There is no fence to sit on or grey area to hide in.

Your analysis is more revealing of yourself than the character of the players.

So many tough guys. Turning an already bad decision into an even worse decision is always the best plan of action to take. Had baker and Dubose retaliated it would have turned into an all out brawl with severe injuries and severe consequences. Multiple people would have been arrested on the spot and all three would have likely lost their scholarships. Some of you internet tough guys crack me up. "I always got my boy's back regardless of the situation."

No way you can expect these kids to fight an entire football team on their campus, in their dorm. Each one of these kids think about their playing futures and it only takes one punch, one slip etc...to cause injury that put's it all in jeopardy. It was a dumb decision to go there in the first place and every kid is going to make a dumb decision. Looks like they have learned from it and thank God no one was seriously hurt, I believe one of our guys was already nursing an injury while this happened.

I will say this...

I had a friend growing up that used to run his mouth non stop!

He would constantly get us into situations with random people by just starting shit for no reason.

One day when we were about 18 or 20 years old, he smarted off to this skinny black kid on a bike that was probably 15 years old.

That kid jumped off that bike and wore him out!!

We just watched and said amongst ourselves that he deserved it and that maybe he would learn his lesson!

That fool continued to be a big mouth idiot and obviously I eventually quit being his friend...

Not saying that this is the case with our players, but there ARE instances when staying out of it is justified.

I personally hope that our players learned from it and stay out of situations like that in the future.

I have similar experience.

My pap always told me "You make the bed you lie in."--- They were somewhere they shouldn't have been. Hopefully, they ALL learned a lesson.

It's not that didn't retaliate. They didn't even go to see if he was okay or even help him up. That's sad.

It's often been said. Don't write a check your butt can't cash. Could be what Barker did in this instance. Like everyone else here, we have no clue what went on.

I don't see the big deal with Baker and Dubose standing there. There were 3 of them vs what looked like 10 of them, and possibly more outside. Would you risk the chance of all 3 of you getting the shit beaten out of ya, or take the sucker punch to Barker, and gtfo.

I get it that's their qb, etc. whatever. But they were arguably drunk, after a bar, at an EKU dorm, surrounded by EKU football players. IMO, they did the smart thing not letting the sucker punch start a brawl that could have ended up a lot worse.

This situation caused a huge rift among the team for a few days. Stoops did a great job defusing the situation and bring the team together. This situation would have only gotten worse if they would have retaliated 3 vs 15. Dorian was probably tired, as he was the one who stomped a mud hole in the dude in the bar.

Dubose was on the phone for reinforcements but it's a good thing it didn't get that far.

I have not seen one person suggest they retaliate, have no idea where that comes from.
Lack of reading skills.
What most of us are saying is, they should have at least looked like they gave a crap and hustled over to help him up and see if he is ok.
That being said, like I said above, maybe Barker had it coming, who knows.

Barker didn't write a check , he got the worst sucker punch maybe ever . We know for sure that Baker and Dubois aren't Lifelock .

Whatever Barker said didn't warrant getting punched without looking , complete pussy move by Graffree . That's what made it so bad , would be interpreted different had he approached straight on .

Not suggesting they should have gone 2 on 10, is exactly what you're hinting at... I've never heard either, but one of the guys helped him up and they got out of dodge.. The same thing that Custer should have done...

They were in a no win situation, jump the guy and at the very best get the crap beat out of them and arrested, who knows what the worst could have been, or as many here are saying let their teammate get knocked out and be bad teammates. If Daboss is right and Barker talked them into going there after the bar fight, their mistake was not telling him he was stupid and refusing to go or let him go. Times have sure changed since my college days, the last thing on my mind was wanting to fight, I wanted to be bruise free.

I'm ambidextrous.....and I've seen some old Banacek episodes on some new channel. Why did they not help, or retaliate? The video shows them moving away for it to happen.

Why was it so ......just put his hat back on kind of thing? Think about it.

Not sure what you mean, young guys plus alcohol plus perceived rivals equals trouble. Luckily not too much, assuming the EKU guy has no lasting damage, Barker seems ok to correct? Not a bad ending considering how things could have turned out.

Teammates on the field is one thing, but stepping to a dude and 9 of his teammates when all you have is one other conscious guy in their literal home, is plum stupid. You tough typers behind your keyboards lack the sense that Baker had in the moment to not make the matter much more costly and a definite continued L for the other 2. Unfortunately they shouldn't have been there in the first place. Plus, maybe Baker is one of the chill drunks...some guys turn into brawlers, others turn into chill mothers.

FALSE!!! No one helped him up!

I love all of the tough talk Internet guys. If I was there, if I was him, blah blah blah. This wasn't a scenario where guys were about to brawl. It was completely shocking to all 3 of the guys when he got hit. I'm sure it took a few seconds for it to kick in before they realized what happened. Yeah, they don't care about each other. Wow. Great take.

Some of you guys should just stick to hoops...

The only issue here is why Graffee wasn't charged with assault. Indisputable video evidence is available for the world to see that he committed a felony. The county attorney is supposed to pursue charges even if the victim doesn't want to press charges when there is blatant evidence.

It was likely payback for the incident earlier in the evening, but it was very dumb on Graffee's part.
