Bad News on Monk

As the parent of a drug and alcohol cou
True . Inhaling smoke of any kind into your lungs is perfectly healthy. Fact. PS you might want to stay in your lane

My brother told me that smoking wasn't bad when we were teens. He can't work now due to breathing issues and I run 3 miles nearly every day. Years and years of smoke of any kind sure aint doing anyone any real good.

don’t forget the politicians in the 20s linking weed to a awful drug all because hispanics coming into the country illegally were smoking it
Congressmen were on record saying that, "smoking cannabis makes white women go after black jazz musicians"........ good reason to outlaw something that is herbal........good reason to label it a schedule 1 narcotic.........BULLSHIT.........

I mean, obviously one should not be high at work (though I saw it a lot in the food industry). There are other medicines in which people also should not operate machinery while taking. But if someone gets high on a Saturday or even a Sunday, it won’t affect them come Monday at work or anything like that.
Yeah im prescribed alprazolam for PTSD and the anxiety and depression that follow it and you shouldn't operate ANYTHING on them. I also smoke weed most days but I do all that after work as i don't want to kill someone.

You do realize that THC is available in edibles..........PS might want to stay in your lane........

Yep, and Colorado has a crisis with kids consuming that stuff and ending up in the hospital. Last statistic was a 200 to 400% increase in poisonings since it was made legal.

Monk's problem has always been consistency. He's very streaky. When he gets hot, he can torch someone from anywhere on the floor. When he's cold, he can't seem to hit the broad side of a barn. I remember saying to family members when he was at UK. Monk is a guy who shoot you into a game or out of a game, depending on whether or not he's on.

I'm sure part of his issue is mental. There is no question that he has the physical tools and athleticism to make it in the NBA. He just needs to approach it the way IQ has at Kentucky, which is to get in that gym and perfect his craft- work until it becomes 2nd nature. But the drugs probably helped him with the mental part of it, gave him an edge, and helped him play better. Problem is, that is a double-edged sword and it will come back to hurt you if you do it for very long.
Excellent explanation. Makes total sense.

what is the definition of “abuse of marijuana”? I’ve known people that smoke everyday but still get up, go to work, and live very productive lives. IMO, I think it’s a lot safer and more responsible to smoke every day than to drink every day. It’s definitely a person by person basis as I’ve know people like I described and I’ve also known burnouts. It all just depends on your own motivation level to succeed and a vision of what you want your future to look like. In my experience, the burnouts I’ve known have no vision and live day to day. The ones that can smoke but are still productive have a very clear vision and know they want to become what they envision for their future. This is all a mute point though as the poster above already determined that the NBA CBA won’t suspend a player an undetermined amount of games for substances like marijuana or PEDs. If I had to speculate, I’d say it is some type of pill like adderoll or oxy.
Those are good points. Another point might be if everybody you know is a stoner then how would you know any difference?

I have read that.........it is a shame you can't legislate stupidity.........all information says to go slow on the edibles.........if a person is so stupid that they disregard that info then they get what they deserve...............can't legislate stupidity........I say remove all of the warnings and let the stupid die.....

You are correct. The problem is that it is impossible to keep tabs on who is responsible in their down time, and who isn't.

Few here will be able to look back on this without being triggered, but the first time I saw him I thought of FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome). The classic symptom of eyes being far apart, and small. His behavior reminded me of people high on pot.

on top of what you said, is his defense is a liability. if he isn't scoring at an efficient rate, you can't keep him on the floor.

This Bud's for you ! LOl , nothing like pot heads taking up for their crutch . Carry on Bro ' Rollem' tight. or bong it or bake it .. I dont care ! But get off the nonsense its healthy .
I don’t smoke or drink buddy lol. My job requires random drug testing. But nothing like old timers getting up in a fuss over something they don’t understand. Carry on with agendas though sir. I like to stay to the facts. And nothing that I stated was inaccurate. As for me, I’ll never understand people that hate something just because society tells them to. I understand that benefits that marijuana can provide to some and I also understand that some people can get bogged down on it. But to look at people as lesser than because they enjoy the smoke is just flat out hypocritical. Especially by those that consume alcohol.

Not once did I say everybody I know is a stoner. Not sure what you’re alluding to here. I think my post speaks for itself that marijuana isn’t the determining factor of whether someone becomes successful in life or not. It all depends on the person. Take the weed away, and 9/10 it’s going to turn out the same way regardless. Motivation and the drive to succeed comes from within. You either have it or you don’t.

Bud you are reading WAY more into it than what I actually said. A poster said it was perfectly healthy. Its not .
Then another poster suggested I didnt know it could be consumed even though I had just mentioned it could .
As far as "old timer" knock. Good luck .. maybe you will be as fortunate as me to reach a ripe old age as 53 one of these days .. now piss off and get off my lawn :)

And the crowd that equivalates/ associates weed with ETOH is just so off base its not even worthy of discussion .

I hate this for Monk. I'm not sure what is going on, but it sounds somewhat serious. Using the more hardcore drugs not only destroys overall health, it's also a surefire way to financial ruin. I've seen respectable people I knew in highschool absolutely ruin themselves as young adults on opioids and meth. It's some of the most depressing stuff I've seen. I pray Monk can get any help he may need.

That’s why people against weed are crazy. They haven’t seen real drugs work I guess.

so answer this if monk had FAS how was he 6’3” and 190 pounds and coordinated enough to play basketball and dunk the ball multiple times a game in high school?

Weed totally has an effect on people in different ways. You cannot possibly make a blanket statement like that.

I know plenty of people that it effects in very negative ways!
