Austin Nichols transferring

I will laugh if he goes to Duke.

They're on fire and it's becoming quite annoying.
Well, you won't like this report from CBS: http://cbsprt.co/1GjJU5Q

If his goal is lots of minutes, I assume he'd play C and backup PF behind Giles. Would be competing with Jeter at C, as well as any 2016 recruits like Bolden.

Were I him I'd look elsewhere for major minutes, but would love to have him at Duke.

That's my passive aggressive post in regards to this topic.

I respect what Duke is doing and the ability they have to round up top prospects.

In 2016-17, Duke likely starts (assuming they get Giles and Jackson to go with Tatum):

G Thornton
G Jackson- K loves two PGs.
G Jones- K loves Seniors with starting experience.
F Tatum- K loves a 4 with perimeter skills (Battier, Singler, Parker, Winslow)
F Giles- starts no matter where he goes.

So Nichols is the top backup inside, if he goes to Duke. Allen is the perimeter backup. Kennard and Jeter ride the pine as Sophomores. Obi is either buried on the bench or transfers.

K won't platoon, so the top 7 are the only ones that will see minutes worth mentioning.

If Nichols is serious about improving his draft status, playing behind Giles is not his best option, but he may not care about that and may just want to play at Duke.

Not a great business decision, but maybe there are other factors to consider.

Agree, and as W2R noted, his family has hired a lawyer to fight UVA being on the exclude list. Hard to believe he wants to go anywhere but UVA given that scenario. Also unlikely the NCAA wants the case to go to court. Wouldn't be shocked if Indianapolis is calling Memphis soon and asking them to remove the UVA restriction.

IIRC Matt Jones is a senior in 2015-16.

Lawyer said it probably ends up in Federal court. Hope the kid gets to go where he wants, even if it's UVA

UVA is a good spot for him. Good education, good coach (I like Bennett a lot), good system. Not sure about improving his stock, but it won't hurt it.

Hopefully this keep UVA in the thick of things in the ACC and gives UNC, Duke, and UofL some L's along the way.

That was quick. Per media. Kid is now free to transfer to UVA, UT any school he wants.

I hope recruits took notice.

Memphis is lame for putting restrictions on his transfer. Smart move to kill it before it wound up in court.

That's a lot of bad publicity because you don't wanna play against a kid once 2 years from now

Not just a lawyer. It's Don Jackson. I have a feeling the kid will end up where he wants. Sounds like that is UVA.
You right about that. That guy is good. I always thought it was Dan

Per the ever informative Tyler Ulis on Facebook and Twitter...http://kysportsconnection.com/kentu...s/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=facebook

I'm indifferent on getting him, but I WOULD love just to take him from Memphis. Their golden boy leaving home and coming to Kentucky and play for Cal? For a coach and everything around that coach which Memphis fans can't stand but envy at the same time?

It's like your ex-wife coming back and having a better relationship with your kids than you do.

Under a real coach not some pretend AAU 15 year old named Joshie.

W2 good updates. I'm told his dad isn't a fan of Cal, but hey it's Memphis people ya know. Like always maybe a little truth and some bullshit on the side.

That's all true, but the program is going south in a hurry...You won't see any 5* guys go there now..watch

He's misleading like he always does. Those aren't facts. Josh Pastner did it in a completely different conference and with much easier schedules. Memphis was in a NEVER BEFORE seen situation under pastner. Its completely APPLES and ORANGES. but he won't tell you that, because he has had an agenda of slurping pastner for years now, and he just won't give it up. It's been explained to him and he still refuses. There's a reason Peoole see what they see. The consensus is speaking on Pastner. He's an outlier that won't allow himself to see what so many see. There are so many damning facts on Pastner it would be hard to start. And this guy would argue everyone of them with the same stupid line that has been explained to a stupid point. It's clear he is completely clueless about the Memphis program. Even Memphis fans would tell him that. It would t matter, he's gonna argue it. He knows something no one else does.....

Maybe after this his opinion might change. But it looks like VA is getting him.

They are fans. It's probably nothing more than "how cal treated us:( " than anything else. I'm sure this business decision would go differently now whether or not he picks UVA. If Nichols wound up at UK their family would probably want to leave, and I mean that. I wouldn't want my family in Memphis under similar circumstances. Just wouldn't want it.

Good. Glad it's not Duke. Pulling hard for UVA, especially with 1 or 2 games against Duke.

Oh and Lobster, you won't like this report: EAD.

That article isn't including the update with Virginia I believe. It essentially was released Monday night. I think Memphis granted full release sometime yesterday?

The top article that is, about Duke and UVA.
