I was thinking Indiana in 1976 ?but that was in Memorial .Cats have had pretty good success in these games in the past. I was at the 2003 Florida, 2007 UNC and 2019 UT games.
Maybe they have some magic tomorrow???
Actually it was at Freedom Hall, LouisvilleI was thinking Indiana in 1976 but that was in Memorial .
I was listening on the radio and Kent Benson tipped one in with the back of his hand to send the game into overtime. Indiana went on to be undefeated.Actually it was at Freedom Hall, Louisville
That game is the best environment I have ever been in for a sporting eventThat game against Florida in 2003 was my first game at Rupp. The place was absolutely rocking and my section never sat down the entire game. A couple of college aged Florida fans in my section got serenaded by 100 Kentucky fans giving them the gator chomp as they hid their faces under their orange caps and left the building with 10 or 12 minutes to go.
Nice find ... but I think the opening post is talking about during the Rupp Arena era ...That is actually incorrect; in December, 1951 number two Kentucky hosted number one St. John’s. UK won 81 to 40, which is the largest margin of defeat by number one team ever.
Here is Kentucky’s 1951-52 schedule:

Is that true? 30 + years? Amazing3-2 in those games. Auburn hasn’t won in Rupp in 30 plus years.
I really want to believe we win tomorrow but that’s a really, really good team we are playing.
Auburn is 2-51 all-time at KentuckyIs that true? 30 + years? Amazing
Based on this, we would win ~4/11 times.ESPN gives Auburn a 64% chance of winning - https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/game/_/gameId/401708421/auburn-kentucky
I just read that Eddie Sutton was the coach the last time Auburn won at Rupp! Wonder if sweat stains will tell his team that to motivate them?Auburn is 2-50 all-time at Kentucky
I was at that game. If I remember correctly, we were up 2 at the end and let Auburn hit a 3-pointer to win it.I just read that Eddie Sutton was the coach the last time Auburn won at Rupp! Wonder if sweat stains will tell his team that to motivate them?
If they're crowding the three-point line, we have to force the ball to the basket. Shots at the rim, not in the mid-range.The way we're being defended, crowding us on the 3 point line, we could use some more mid range scoring. Noah might could give us some of that.
So was I. We stunk up the gym. After the game, Sutton was so mad he gave the players a test regarding the game. One of the questions was "what was the final score". None of the players got it right.I was at that game. If I remember correctly, we were up 2 at the end and let Auburn hit a 3-pointer to win it.
I don't know if that was one of the games or not, but I remember seeing Eddie on the sidelines multiple times when he appeared to be less than 100% sober. So was I. We stunk up the gym. No, it was in January, 1988.I think it was senior night too the last time they beat us home. I was 12. I remember shedding tears. I didn’t think we were allowed to lose at home back then haha!
I kind of like John Fanta. Guy truly loves college basketball.I was listening to full ride on the way back from lunch today at work and John Fanta was guest on there and as he was wrapping up his talk he left this little nugget
"I have an upset for you tomorrow Kentucky will take down Auburn"
Kind of a side note here but in this, Tubi has a documentary called "Eddie" about Eddie.Sutton and talked a lot about his alcoholism and that his inability to deal with it spiked his second season at UK. It had been happening at Arkansas, one of the Arkansas players said they had a big win on the road at Texas, I think and he and Eddie had to stay to do interviews for radio and TV. The rest of the team went on earlier flight home so he and Eddie flew a private plane back later. He said that Eddie always had a briefcase with him and when they got on the plane, Sutton opens the briefcase and he's got a couple of bottles of whiskey and a glass and pours himself a glass. The player said he was stunned to see that's what was in the briefcase and that he was nonchalant about it.I don't know if that was one of the games or not, but I remember seeing Eddie on the sidelines multiple times when he appeared to be less than 100% sober.
This. They have ONE loss in conference. In the hardest league in America. I don’t think people realize how damn incredible that is. And it was to….*checks notes*…..Florida. Another T5 national title contender.3-2 in those games. Auburn hasn’t won in Rupp in 30 plus years.
