I've said from the start I thought Brad White would be the most likely candidate to fill the DC position based on some conversations I'd had. I still believe he is a strong candidate but I am also hearing now beyond speculation that Ole Miss linebackers coach Jon Sumrall is someone we should be talking about. When I first heard this it was in the context of the DC spot but it may be for the LB job, the same position he has at Ole Miss. There is even some talk from in Oxford, per a source, that things have advanced significantly between Kentucky and Sumrall. I have not heard this from sources closer to UK but I'm working on that. It could be a co-DC situation. I am not privy to the details on that right now.
UPDATE: I do not believe it is done but right now I believe it is likely that Sumrall is UK bound but there is a possibility that's as LB's coach. I'm not closing the door on DC as a possibility for him but hearing White is still a strong candidate for that as well.
