What would you pay, out of your own pocket, for a Kentucky title?

I think I'd pay $5,000 today, maybe $10,000 later in life for a title. I think that's worth it, to watch Kentucky win 6 games in the tournament, grab the title, and the joy of it all. But hard for me to spend much more than that. Obviously towards the end of life, that number might rise.

Try and at least be honest here, because I'm pretty curious to see how far people would go. It's an interesting case study in fandom, IMO, and how much sports mean to someone.

I'd also be curious how this differs for your other teams, compared to Kentucky. I'd also like to know how much you could pay before your wife throws you out. lol.

Then you are crazy.

No wonder 98% of this place hates you. It's a simple discussion on a Monday that you still are having trouble answering. Just enjoy it, or move on.
Then why am I getting a lot more likes than you? Evidently you are really hated then.

He really isn’t.

I’m not sure there are people who actually hate people on this board. Dislike their views? Definitely. Straight up hate? This is a basketball board. If someone hates someone else on a basketball board, then they have issues.

Not only is he an idiot, he goes above and beyond to continually prove it. He should have been banned a long time ago. He's one of bassfan's sock accounts. He gave himself away several times, forgetting which account he was logged into.

I asked this to my question to my Fantasy sports buddies.. and one had an interesting reply:

He wouldn't give up say $15,000 from his account, but he wouldn't take it either. I thought that was interesting. Basically saying you don't want to give up the nest egg you have, but don't need to add to it, either.

IDK, I just find this stuff interesting I guess.

Here’s where the question gets weird for me...how much would I enjoy the Title if I wrote a check for it and knew what was coming? Not as much, I don’t think.

Of course, if I KNEW it was coming, I could always put every available nickel on the Cats to win...wouldn’t even be gambling.

I get your premise, and I’m mostly joking. But I remember back in 2015, I thought about going to the Final Four and getting some really good tickets for a once in a lifetime experience. Ended up taking my family to Disney that week instead (glad I did, with the way it turned out).

So I guess I’m just not much into spending extra money on my favorite teams, no matter how much I love them. I know others feel differently.

It depends on the year. Most years I’d probably pay $2500. This year I might be inclined to pay $5000 just because it would be extra sweet to win it during coach K’s last season. But certainly no less than $2500. For a guaranteed title, that’s a bargain.

It would depend on how rich I am. If I’m worth 5 million plus I’d pay a few hundred thousand as long as I’m still making good money. If I’m worth 100 million I’d easily pay 5 million to win the title this season. Again as long as ive got strong investments. Where I sit now I’d pay around 20K to win it in K’s last season.

0. Titles are earned.

Not a cent. Just put us in the same category as UCLA. I want a title that is fought for and earned, not bought.
I’m with you on part 1. I want the teams to earn it so I wouldn’t give a dime for a guaranteed undeserved title. Part 2 though about UCLA, their titles weren’t earned either unless you consider getting the best players money could buy as being earned. They cheated their ass off for most of their titles, same as Duke and UNC.

I think this is about on par. I would drop $5k this year, maybe even that much any given year. Don’t think I’d go much more than that unless there were other considerations—tickets, etc as has been mentioned. If I could write it off as a business or charitable expense, I would plop down a little more thru my business I guess but I couldn’t see a scenario where it would be more than $10k regardless.

It's all about framing. Paying money for a chip comes across as different than choosing a chip over a truck.

When you frame the question the way you did most will likely not choose to pay any of their hard earned money for a title.

On the flipside most chose the title over the truck because their not spending their own money for said title.

Yes forgoing a 100k truck might as well be one paying that amount for a title but it doesn't have the same psychological weight as the way you framed the question.

Weird hobby for kl to have to come on a message board every single day just to be a prick.

Ive seen multiple titles and multiple championship games/final 4s, I don’t think I’d pay anything. Now….I might drop a couple grand to see the football team win it all.

Well, we have been paying a coach $10 million per year with no title in 10 years.
