YOU guys are the Karens. For AT least 5 year every other thread basically boiled down to " Cal sucks" in one way or another. It was exhausting. When he left I thought, finally that's over, and we can all move on to more constructive discussions. But no some of you can't let it go and continue to spew venom. I might point out that UK is in the middle of its best season in recent memory, some haven't noticed because they are still obsessed with Cal

If you were around for the great Tubby debate and departure, you might remember this board turned into a UK/Minnesota board for two straight seasons. Every Minny game was discussed. Tubby’s detractors would revel in Minnesota’s failures (biggest camp) and Tubby’s supporters would highlight Minnesota’s successes. BCG and Tubby were compared at every turn.

Tubby was only here 10 years and didn’t stay in the SEC. Cal was here 15 and went to what some would consider a conference rival. Cal and the Hogs will be discussed here often over the next couple seasons. This year will be the worst. This topic isn’t going away any time soon if the past history of this board is any indicator.

Calipari has been washed up for some time. His approach to the game is antiquated. Only his ego won't allow him to make the changes necessary to be competitive again. He had UK over a barrel with that contract and his ego had him believing he was untouchable. Well, no one is untouchable in this day and age. Arky thinks he's got something left in the tank. I do not. We'll see who is right. Either way, he's gone and is someone else's problem now. The Cats are winning and that's all that matters.

i would say it was one of the best 6 yr runs ever. 2016 underachieved, 2017 robbed, 2018 underachieved and 2019 underachieved considering they were better than Auburn and destroyed them a couple of weeks before. Those yrs were not special for Ky. Then he had some of the most notable fails in UK history the last 4 yrs.

Cal also owns the worst home loases in the history of the program and the 2 worst NCAAT losses in the history of the program.
I would feel different if he fid everything he possibly could to win those games, but he didn't. He sacrificed wins for individual accomplishments and goals, his ego and to show the BBN who the boss was (Dontaie Allen and Bryce Hopkins). I will never support, or applaud him, no matter how much time passes.

To answer your question though, the last 4 years are bad enough to burn any goodwill he has with the fans, clearly. But historically, it does not diminish the earlier accomplishments. Those final 4 banners will be hanging in rupp for quite some time. Most of the greats stuck around long enough to go out sour. History tends to remember the wins.

Totally honest about it. Amazing 9 year stretch. 4 years of pure shit. I wouldn’t trade the first 9 to erase the last 4. If we had it to do all over again I say we hire him in 2009 again in a heartbeat. Maybe since we are using the Time Machine Mitch should re-think the way he structures that contract though.

It’s totally fair to appreciate the good times and still agree it was time for a change. It had gotten bad. But I’m not gonna cry like a baby about the bad times any longer.

I really loved what Cal did here. I think he may eventually come back around like Pitino did.. but his recent career turn is really astounding. Like I said, he needs to just focus on winning basketball games, which I don't think is really a strong priority for him right now.
