Arkansas Fan wants Cal GONE

Yeah I think that’s the norm though. That happened to pretty much every major school with a new coach, so not gonna blame Cal for that. More than anything, he left the Kentucky “brand” in a good place (in addition to the contract)
No, he destroyed the Kentucky brand, intentionally so. Players were no longer coming here with the expectation of winning anything other than an invitation to the green room. Piss on Calipari and ANYONE who tries to defend his tactics.

You’re right. We’ve been wrecked before. Sutton wrecked us. Cal left and we were in the top 5 a few months later.

Cal lifted up the program in a big way for a long time. He raised our profile to where it should be. Then he lost his fastball. It happens. We’ve moved on and it’s going well.
You're acting like Cal is some sort of saint. The guy never had a fastball, it's just that he didn't have the coaching staff to hide him. All that "I can't hide you", and he never realized he was talking about himself.

favorite.
I mean, it's pretty simple, you don't have to click on either Cal thread, the titles tell you exactly what the subject matter is going to be, so why click and read if it pisses you off?

Cal is a huge part of UK's history and he is wrecking Arkansas just like he wrecked us. It's a very good topic of conversation, because we were freaking right. UK fans took heat while Cal still got praised by the media, but now, everyone is seeing what we saw many years ago.

There are 100 other threads to read, why would you click on this one and play the Karen role?
Exactly. Good post.

...I don't want to hear that Cal had a short time to piece together his roster, he got 6 guys from UK, plus Davis, Aidoo and Brazille. His roster has talent in spades, he is the common denominator, but he's putting it on the players...
This. Pope and Kelsey also had to rebuild, and look at what they are doing with less talent than Cal has. Louisville has played itself into the bubble, something I would never have expected a month ago. In the NIL/TP era, we'll see a lot of quick rebuilding going forward.

Probably the same type of idiot that sits at green lights, like what happened on our way to Walmart tonight. The car just SITTING there. I wasn't in the turning lane with that car, but I held down on the horn anyway. Bunch of fumducks on the road anymore.
Looking at their phone to see if anyone liked their post on Rupps rafters.

Yeah it’s just hard for me to hold any ill will towards Cal when I’m so happy with where we ended up (and in year 1 post-his tenure). He certainly disappointed but man I’m too happy with where we’re at now to dwell on that. We’ll welcome Cal back to Rupp in 10 years just like we do with Tubby, Ricky P, etc.

And the one way Cal didn’t damage us is that Kentucky was still considered the place to be in college basketball along with Duke, KU, etc even with the results weren’t there the last few years. And we didn’t have to pay him shit lol
I see what you're saying, but so many of the things he did really stick in my craw. He made Kentucky about him, he put himself ahead of UK and he used our brand like toilet paper and told us we should like it, then took every opportunity to stick it to us. The Shaedon Sharpe BS should have made every UK fan fully aware of where his priorities were.

So it's cool if you want to just forgive and forget, but I want to see that asshole fall hard down at Arkansas.

On the Shaedon Sharpe BS alone, I do not think Calipari should ever be invited back to Rupp Arena. Come here to play against the Cats, fine, but never as a guest.

YOU guys are the Karens. For AT least 5 year every other thread basically boiled down to " Cal sucks" in one way or another. It was exhausting. When he left I thought, finally that's over, and we can all move on to more constructive discussions. But no some of you can't let it go and continue to spew venom. I might point out that UK is in the middle of its best season in recent memory, some haven't noticed because they are still obsessed with Cal
We're the Karen's? We were having a discussion about a guy that was the face of UK for 15 years and he just left a few months ago and took our players. He also just coached a game that was all too familiar to us and we are discussing it. The conversation was fine.

Then, here you come to complain. You are the Karen. YOU came here just to complain and tell everyone to shut up, because YOU don’t like it.

YOU did not have to click on this thread. There are many threads on here I don't like, guess what I do when I see them? I don't click on them, it's that simple.

I'm not hurt pal just exhausted with the whole Cal narrative that you guys refuse to let die. YouR egos are so fragile that you have to crow almost daily about how " right you were " to criticize Cal in the past Alot of us knew he sucked years ago and have no need to point it out constantly now that he no longer coaches us.
That’s true but hell people still talk about Ricky P and Tubby. Cal talk isn’t going away by some anytime soon after his performances the last 7-8 years.

Serious question: Are you one of Cal's daughters? Brad?

Every time I watch Arkansas play, just like today against a great team. I cringe as Wagner, Davis, and Fland all hand the ball off to each other and run side to side.

My wife and I stopped off for a late lunch on our way home from Rupp and watched the 2nd half of Tennessee-Arkansas while we ate. I remember saying - "Wow. That could have been our team this year........... and THAT team would not have had an answer for Florida in Rupp Arena today......."

Your the kind of guy that will still be talking about Calipari10 years after he retires. Have at it guys enjoy your misery

Do you understand what message boards are? It's for discussion. You can go from thread to thread to discuss whatever you want. Maybe keep that in mind while you're on here.

Honestly, I think a lot of us are still trying to figure out what and who Calipari is. He's not the same guy that roamed the court from 09-17, this guy is a train wreck and if you can't see why it's worth discussing, well, that's an issue you have to get over.

There are others in this thread that have stated they are happy with where UK is and have let go of Cal and they did it without acting like a child (you).

So the next time you start a thread about something other than Pope and the current team, do you think it's cool of I attack you because I don't like the subject? That's what you did.

He left us with 0 players after Almost every HS kid was signed and delivered. We just were fortunate Pope was a hidden gem that has ties to us and he assembled a kick ass staff who identified a group of transfers and the HS kids we could get that work well together. I’ll always be grateful he let us out of that ridiculous contract though.
He didn't let us out of jack shit.
He violated the terms of his contract.
He got canned.

I think the part people fail to understand is there isn’t just one hive mind regarding the Cal situation. You have people who like to talk about it for a combination of different reasons:

1.) Some people found Calipari’s abrupt departure distasteful, considering the press conference with Mitch just a few days before it. These people are actively rooting against Cal.

2.) Some people found that an unwritten rule is broken when Cal went to a conference rival. These people are rooting against Arkansas and Cal.

3.) Some people were begging for Calipari to leave or be fired for years and grew very hostile due to the lack of changes. Some of these people are enjoying the failure of Cal at Arkansas because they feel vindicated for asking for something new.

4.) Some people feel that Cal, through on court win/loss record, NCAAT and SECT failures, and using UK as an NBA G-League Jr actively tarnished or diminished the brand of Kentucky basketball. Those people haven’t forgiven Cal and will root against him.

5.) Some people questioned whether or not the Calipari model (assemble talent) or the Pope model (structured system) were the “correct” choice long term. For these fans, they feel the need to root against Cal to ensure that we ended up with the better option, something that has become clear to most people by now.

6.) For some, it is much less serious. He was our former coach and now plays on a rival team. Those people cheer against Cal but not maliciously — it’s something of a friendly rivalry, we absolutely want to win but not due to hatred of Cal but simply a former coach plays on a conference rival.

7.) Cal has a big ego and personality. This makes him especially divisive but also an enigma. Love or hate the guy, he is fun to talk about. For some, it is this simple.

8.) Others may have fallen into one of the previous groups but for various reasons don’t care that much anymore. These people have become apathetic to Cal. I’d say this is the group I am in.

There are many reasons why Cal will keep coming up in threads for a long time. These are my thoughts on “why”. GBB!

Why ? , because hes an asshole .. short version

As a poster who led the charge for years to find a way to get away from Cal , a lot of insults , flak , name calling etc etc was taken before finally being proved correct . It formed my emotions today I guess , to some unknown extent . Cal is a sworn enemy of BBN . Hes a terrible coach , regardless of personalty , likability , schemes , anything , hes a terrible coach !!

Imagine a movie and you have a high-paid corporate type in charge of a team, a lot of moving parts, who has a huge presentation to land the big account that would go a long way to change his company's fortunes and the day of the presentation he decides not to get his team together to review, they'll just wing it because he has a big day ahead of him and he wants to fly out of town after the presentation to see his nephew receive a Good Citizenship Award and he wants to be there. He and his team blow the presentation badly, things aren't ready, he forgot his notes and his employer calls and says, "What the hell happened??" and he says "I guess we should have reviewed before we went in there, I made a mistake but I'm on my way to see my nephew's award ceremony out of town and we'll have to talk later", would he get fired?

Tough guy on his way to Elmwood Avenue...LOL. They should be glad they have a coach period much less one with a KY pedigree, multiple Final Fours and a National Championship. Home of Wal-Mart and Bill and Hillary... sooooey!
Oh look, you again sneaking in politics. It's insane how often people here try to wedge it in any nook and cranny they can.

I dog Cal as much as anyone but.....

Arkansas only has 3 losses

and UK, even thought we are doing great, got beat down by Ohio St.

so going to UT and losing badly is not exactly off the radar for any team at the moment.

now that said, so glad Cal is gone, hope he does well at Arkansas and hope he learns some real, not faux , humility - and understands he needs to grow or go, like Saban, Willams, Coach K, and the many others that realized its a new era (which Cal was the leader of at one point) which requires change and energy.

but either way, he is now UK fan's problem once, maybe twice a year as opposed to every game. And I buy Tyson chicken at Walmart as a way to thank them for saving Kentucky $40m

Cal was historically bad for our program for YEARS. Kudos I guess for not caring about that, but a lot of people still do. Especially when he’s in our conference, with a team full of former Kentucky players and recruits.
He was historically good and then historically bad. That's why you see such a polarizing sentiment attached to his name throughout UK basketball. There is not much middle ground.

Separately, which former UK player is going to pull an Aaron Bradshaw and have his career game against UK in Rupp? You know it's coming ... my guess is Wagner.

Personally, I feel like Cal is the kinda ex coach we keep at arms length. I can see inviting him back as a guest for something related to celebrating the national title he won....but not much else. He will never be a Joe Hall. Even Pitino didn't show the contempt for the BBN that Cal did at times. (Other than the time he flipped us off. 🤣🤣🤣)

The thing is this.

UK scored the same amount of points in the first half as Arkansas did the entire game. And Pope never screamed Go.

I have been wanting Cal gone since 2018 and many people here were still supporting him in 2024. I never wanted to hear his name again but the contrast yesterday shows how wrong so many were. For years.
I hung on until 2021 season, but after the injuries and St. Peter’s I couldn’t do it anymore.

I wished they had Canadian.

You go down there, ay, and make a right, ay.
You have reached your destination guy.

I'm talking about the embarrassing losses the last 5+ years, the circus around him, the talking down to fans, the NBA first culture and the total lack of awareness this guy has. He was prioritizing individual players and the NBA over UK and got mad at us when we called him out on it.

Plus, the guy left us with zero players.

Cal did bigtime dakage to UK, Pope is fixing it, but it won't be easy.

But, the damage he did to UK, is nowhere near as bad as he's doing to himself right now. I'm trying to figure out if he realizes it, or just doesn't care.
Trust me the clown thought for sure he wrecked us and that was his intent zero doubt in my mind.

KARMA is a bitch

I would guess Big Z or Ado Thiero, about the only damage Wagner will do in Rupp, is crack our backboards and ding up our floors.
