Are you concerned that the offense seemed to stall w/out Ulis?

I'm a little concerned but I think that most of that sluggishness was due to the fact that Cal was trying different things with different lineups and we weren't really running offense other than Cal yelling at the guards to drive to the basket. With that said I wish we would have seen more offensive sets with Briscoe running the show, if for no other reason than to get him used to running offense.

It was hard for anyone to get into a flow because Wright State fouled on every possession. I think Murray is a little too turnover prone to play point at this point but Briscoe will be fine.

4 games in 8 days guys. Travel time to boot. Big rivarly with Duke took up a lot of energy as well. Concerned? No. Elated to be 4 and 0 with a dUKe beatdown? Yes.

My only concern is that people actually questioned who should run the team...hopefully we dont have to talk about that again

I tend to think that making defensive plays gives a player the confidence to score better on offense. I hope we can make some plays like Poythress did where he stole the ball from a wright state player and went in for a monster dunk. That was very impressive for someone who plays more like a forward....

It was definitely evident.

However, Cal wants Briscoe to be that lead guard when Ulis goes out.

Something about Briscoe, I'm just not worried. His free throws suck right now and he is not managing the offense that great without Tyler.

But this kid has something, he could improve like no other this season. A kid with his abilities, confidence, and just ice in his veins will overcome things like this.

He is not comfortable yet, when he does he will turn it on.

I also believe Murray will settle in as well.

Even if I was concerned I don't see Ulis getting into foul trouble that often... he will be on the court a ton!

so...

we are worrying about the other 4 minutes Ulis might not play.

Yeah, i'm not that worried.

Last season Ulis missed some time at the beginning of the year for shin splints. Not sure how much time he did miss or if he would have missed it at all had we not had Andrew but if they reared their ugly head again it would be nice to know that our plan B had some experience. So while your reply was witty it completely overlooks the very real possibility of Ulis missing time. He has shown himself to be extremely tough but Shin Splints are very painful.

zzzzzzzzzz,

Yeah, i'm not that worried.

That was Friday's game, what if Ulis gets into early foul trouble in the future an it will happen. I think Murray and Briscoe both pass well and see the floor well. Right now I think they are feeling each other out which is why we see some errant passes from these two sometimes.

Question was, are you concerned that our offense stalls without Ulis, and I stated the obvious.

We'll be fine and more than ready when it matters.

Obviously you don't like to read discussion which is all it is. Nothing to get upset about.

Yes

More concerned with outside shooting and weakness underneath.

I wish Cal would let Murray shoot more 3's, but he yells "drive it" every time Murray gets the ball..He's a shooter and can make 40+ % (deadly from the corner)...now Briscoe needs to drive everytime either score or kick to Murray or Ulis.....

Murray can get that three anytime he wants against anybody.

Cal wants them to break the defense down, get them in foul trouble, and get to the rim.

As we get more and more comfortable with the dribble-drive, we will get slews of rhythm threes off kickouts after the defense has rotated.

Cal knows what he's doing, and where he's trying to go with this team.

Unless you have split personality problems, you posted "for crying out loud people it's only November." So it seemed you were.

So what month is it, how does making an obvious comment make me upset and why are you so obsessed with it?

Let's see you commented on my post first, and you keep posting back every time I post, so who's obsessed?

No I commented on the OP's question and replied to yours. Tool much?

Another reply, I see you're still obsessing with me. This is getting uncomfortable. You're not peeking in my windows now are you? lol

I'm not concerned and Humphries isn't taking Skal's minutes.

You mean the one you started above where you replied to me for a comment I made to the OP and were you too ignorant to know the difference? That obsession?

Have we stopped calling each other names, that was fun. But at least you are keeping your end of it by obsessing with my posts.

Is there another Poetax on board who's incapable of the basic communication skills of a six year old?

See Post 17 and witness the genesis of you.

I will spare the board continued futility of yourself.

Goodbye dumbass. [laughing]

Don't get cold out there peeking in those windows my little obsessed pervert,

this

Cal is using these less than marquis games for teaching. You all notice that the boys pretty much had free reign against Duke? That's because he worked on things needed for THAT game in the two games against Albany and NJIT.

I imagine we'll see more stuff that makes little sense prior to the UCLA game. As Aike says here, they need to get comfortable with defense - no one is really worried about offensive power. Sure, how they're learning right now may disrupt that offense a little, but it'll make more sense later, I think,
