When Cal was obviously not preparing the team and we were playing stupidly ? I would be a hot mess and let it affect me for that day and night ? Couldn’t sleep etc , curse , act like a FANatic . But this year I care but realize our effort is fine , our preparation is fine , we don’t lose to teams with far lesser talent ( without getting screwed - Ga and Clemson ) . Losing is never the goal or accepted , but no team is going to win them all .
People yesterday were nuts , calling the team pathetic and not giving it their all . Glad I’m over that .

For me it’s a mixed bag. More pain over a loss this year. I care deeply about the team and that’s something I had lost touch with over the years of Calipari garbage.

But I can handle it a lot better. It’s a rough experience, but one that means something.

I’m kind of the opposite, at least on the Cal issue; he almost destroyed my faith in this program after 2015 so I guess I was more or less apathetic about a loss toward by the time he left. Yesterday bothers me but I guess I’m old enough to understand the challenges Pope had putting this team together in short period of time and has them consistently beating top 25 programs, tells you how lucky we are to have him.

It’s more tolerable because we’re seeing noticeable improvement, game preparation, and adjustments. Would still like to get to the foul line more and continue to improve on the defensive rebounding. But they’ve made strides since the OSU and UGA losses. Something we didn’t see the last 5 years

Cals last few years I didn’t care when we lost, I just assumed we would lose. I was pretty upset yesterday, mostly because I think we could have beaten them with better decision making from our best players. I was pissed for a few hours then let it go.

I was super upset for a full day after UGA game because I seriously believe we lost that game due to blatant bullshit officiating. I felt we should have won the Clemson game as well, but officials were just into the home crowd and let it get away. OSU I didn’t watch all of, and we just flat out didn’t come to play.

I dont let any regular season sport defeats dictate my emotions or rest of day anymore. I might get a little irked or down after a big post season loss but usually able to move on by next morning. Life goes on and in the end the fanatical hobby and mindless entertainment that sports bring to us are just that and really has 0 impact on our actual lives.

I can because I know that CMP did everything he could to prepare the team to win the game. Previous coach would sit there and tell you he didn't watch film and wasn't concerned with winning at all. The hubris on that guy was next level.

I took yesterday a lot better than Calipari losses for a few reasons.

1. Alabama is a top 5 team in the country. They're being listed as a 1 seed on most bracketology boards yesterday and today. They're a great team. I'm encouraged by the fact we were able to battle with them like we did considering our injury issues.

2. I always get down big time after a loss that makes me rethink how good we are. Evansville send a clear message about how good you are. Losing to Alabama doesn't tell mean you're any less good.

3. This is Pope's 1st year. He's already exceeded expectations. Even if we don't make the tournament run we want this year, I know the future is bright.

4. I saw Arkansas lose by 18 to drop to 0-5 in the SEC.

It’s year one. I expected some losses. There’s been more joy than loss this year on the big stage games. If we make the sweet 16 and go out in a tight game I would be happy. Next year expectations would elevate quite a bit

I think the losing hurt less yesterday for me because of the exceeded expectations this year, already having won several top 15 games, including our most heated rivals.

I think those who have posted this year hurts worse is a good thing. It means we are started to actually care about the team/program again. It’s been a rough 4-5 year stretch.

Losses still sting a lot for me but I do find that I worry less about them. I know pope is ahead of schedule and things are going to be great under his watch.

I didn't realize how numb I was to losing in the last years of Cal. I thought I would be ok with losses this year but this team has raised my expectations higher than is likely realistic. This team probably isn't as good as I want them to be. I am more invested in them than in recent teams. The SEC is a total dogfight ,tough year for Pope to break into the league.

I'll summarize with this:

I'm still on the rag today. Been cussing at inanimate objects for the last 24 hours. I guess it's the competitor in me. I always hated to lose at anything and this staff and the players are my outlet since I'm out of the game. Love these guys and don't want to see them lose because you can tell it hurts. Especially Coach Pope. We got a little unlucky that the league's strength is our weakness. Physical play by the bigs.

I try to be realistic, this is a good team but not a great athletic team, which is the weakness, physical athletic teams can impose their will on this team sometimes. But they are coached well, and have potential.

Cal has slowly eroded away a lot of anxiety I used to have watching Kentucky games. I actually am getting that butterflies in the stomach feeling during the games this year. I’m excited and nervous about every game now and I’m excited for the tournaments going forward. (We might actually win some games)

Considering the circumstances, this was a mulligan year for me . I’ve been thrilled.
