I got some potentially awful health news and this is the next test in line, they said it’s gonna take 4 plus hours. Just seeing if anyone has any past experiences with it.
Anybody have any experience w/an IR lumbar puncture?

Should take much less than 4 hours. If you are of the "high anxiety" type, ask your physician to prescribe 5-10mg of valium to be taken pre-procedure.
Shouldn't be very uncomfortable once a little local such as lidocaine infiltrated into the area.

Just reading up on this..it seems the worst case is meningitis—which is treatable. Is that what they’re testing for—or is it a variety of things? Either way, prayers for peace, bro
Possible MS. Got a some white lesions they say are a little bigger than they would like to see. I’m only 34, not in the best frame of mind at the moment. Scary shit man.
Edit: I had an MRI on my brain and that’s where the lesions we’re so yeah, kinda freaking out.
-buddy at work(43 yo) got diagnosed 6 months ago, he's doing great...plays high level tennis(4.0) a few times a week. Able to keep a PT/OT regime that has him in really good shape. He's met others that have similar experiences.
-point being:MS is very treatable nowadays ...lots of good medicine/treatment/therapy available. People are able to live full active lives with the disease.

Haven't had a lumbar puncture. I did have a spinal block a few times. I think they are probably somewhat similar with one putting fluid in and the other taking it out (more to it than that I'm sure). They numbed the area with one needle that stung a bit and the second one wasn't to bad until they started adding pressure to the disc area with the steroid. Felt like an elephant standing on my back. Wasn't to bad of an experience. Hopefully you have a similar experience.
Procedure will take less than 30 min. Rest of that time is prepping and post observation. Some people experience headache afterwards. Ask the staff for a soda, tends to help with that. Pretty routine stuff. Good luck with it all.
Just got back from the hospital. Wasn’t near as bad as I feared. Freaked out for nothing. Ha. They said my spinal fluid is the color they want so that’s good so far. Won’t know the rest until I get the results back. Thanks everybody.
Yeah it probably took like 5 minutes. I was at the hospital for 4 hours though. Prep and than 2 hour bed rest.
So the doc messaged and said the MS spinal fluid tests were normal. Im taking that as no MS! Hells yeah, boys. Hells yeah!
Back in the day people would just rub a little dirt on it and walk it off. Nowadays these snowflakes complain about everything. I used to walk a mile to school when it was closed on Saturday because I had Alzheimers, but instead of whining about it I'd just walk back, only I couldn't remember where home was so I'd kill and eat pigeons in the park for a few days until they found me.
