Looks like I’m going for 5 days in late May.
Any recommendations on things to do there, other than the obvious historical sites ?

US NavyI wonder what kind of jobs there are in the world for people who just want to travel the globe. Drug mule? Organ harvester? There must be some that allow for sightseeing.
According to the social media feeds of most drop dead gorgeous female social media influencers that must be on the listI wonder what kind of jobs there are in the world for people who just want to travel the globe. Drug mule? Organ harvester? There must be some that allow for sightseeing.
You'd be shocked. Look up digital nomads on youtube. Young people live in a world we don't really understand. If my health holds up my wife and I plan to retire to Koh Samui, Thailand. SE Asia is crawling with digital nomads.I wonder what kind of jobs there are in the world for people who just want to travel the globe. Drug mule? Organ harvester? For our 30th anniversary, my wife and I took a 10-day Mediterranean cruise back in Oct 2023, with several days in Rome both before and after the cruise. We made stops in Athens (actually docked in a suburb named Piraeus), Santorini, Mykonos, and Katakolo. Basically, our ship would dock early in the morning, then we would spend the day in port and get back on the boat late afternoon / early evening.Looks like I’m going for 5 days in late May.

Seems like a ferry to Mykonos is several hours , no?Yes but only stayed 2 nights as we were on a Catamaran vacation. Which I would highly recommend.
Very busy city with tons of traffic. Make sure you don't get run over if walking.
The Athens Hilton is very nice. Has a great outdoor restaurant on top where you can see all of Athens.
You gotta do the Acropolis. Some good walking though.
Greek soccer season runs till May. Might be cool to hit up a game.
The Stavros Niarchos Park is very nice.
I would always recommend taking a ferry to Mykonos or Santorini.
Cool city, have fun.
Sounds amazing. My wife and I enjoy going over the Europe, and a cruise like that is on our bucket list. We are heading to Belgium and Amsterdam in a few weeks and really looking forward to it.For our 30th anniversary, my wife and I took a 10-day Mediterranean cruise back in Oct 2023, with several days in Rome both before and after the cruise. The cruise company had local tour companies to provide various options. For Athens, my wife and I simply took a bus from the boat into downtown Athens. Prior to the downtown, we made a 20-minute stop at the site of the 1896 Olympic Stadium. Once downtown, we hiked up to the Acropolis, checked it out, came back down for shopping etc. The Acropolis was cool to see up close, but
If you have the option to take a side trip I would definitely recommend spending a day at Mykonos.
After our stops in Greece, we made a stop in Malta. A scheduled stop in Messina (Sicily) was cancelled due to weather. We then stopped in Naples, Florence, and Livorno (Pisa) before heading back to Civiatechia (sp?), our disembarking point.Sounds amazing. At least 2. Maybe 2.5. But it's a cool route. You see other little islands and stuff.Seems like a ferry to Mykonos is several hours , no?
