I don't think he's a lock to UK like some do.If he decides to take all his visits I doubt he signs with UK.

He'd be a fool to not take his other visits if we aren't going to take a commit until Knox decides.
this makes zero sense. announcing where you want to go to school next has ZERO binding. all that matters is the paper work. release from the school. submit to another. etc.
he can commit right now if he wants. paper work is worked out later.
You gotta take Cam in this situation, at least I would. We've waited enough on Knox and he still hasn't committed, so take Johnson and move on. If Knox is legit and the player we think he is, he's not afraid of Johnson anyway. Give Cam the pen!
I really hope that isn't true.He's got several good schools after him and I wouldn't blame him if he knocks UK off his list.
Cal has been recruiting Knox for over a year. He has been recruiting Johnson for a few weeks.
He has to let the Knox recruitment play out, he has too much time and effort invested in Knox to just give up with just a week left.

What I find somewhat amazing is the degree to which Cal seems to veer to the overriding opinion on this board when it comes to recruits. The huge wave of sentiment that Cal needed to recruit Fox last year as our No. 1 PG option is a good example.
Not suggesting that Cal follows this board, just suggesting that perhaps Cal knows what he's doing. That alone tells me he fully understands the significance of Cam Johnson.

this board wanted kobi simmons signed in june. remember trevor lacy was a must get? or how we shouldnt sign vanderbilt...needed a shooter instead.
cal has uk in a position where we can wait until the SR year to start recruiting and signing guys. by then you know who has really improved. lesser programs need to offer and get commits 1+ out.
Johnson is Kentucky bound, despite what Knox might end up doing. Maybe Calipari wants Cam to wait incase something has turned with Diallo and Knox is suddenly a much bigger need.
I don't think either is the case, though. I believe things are still the same. Calipari is certain Knox is heading elsewhere, Cam wants to wait until after his last final at Pitt to commit. Bamba is waiting for Cal to tell him when the best time for him to commit is to garner him the most attention. Diallo was always expected to test the waters. This will be used for scouts to tell Cal & Diallo how to turn him into a lottery pick next year.
I think most all signs still point to this being the current situation. Diallo, Johnson, and Bamba to all join our current roster & make our team completely ridiculous next year.
I have read a lot concerning Knox via interviews, message board posts, and all star event quotes. I still cannot figure out what his plan truly is. Everyone assumes he is going to Duke based on very little evidence. I might even consider UNC a bigger favorite. Who knows? I cannot see Kentucky in his future, however. It would be a huge surprise and prove that Cam, Diallo, and Bamba are not all 100% UK bound, I'd have to think. I guess the only other option would be Knox loving UK, taking the 13th scholarship and thinking he could earn a starting spot & tons of minutes that others consider unlikely with the other talent coming. Like out playing Johnson, Diallo and Vanderbilt to get all the court time he wants, for instance?
I guess you can't ever put anything past Calipari. The next few weeks will have everything play out and we will all know. No matter what, I can't wait for next year. Calipari is building a team full of talent at every position with virtually no weaknesses.

Latest News Flash on Johnson, Knox and Bamba...... Johnson will commit at some point. Knox may commit between May 1st and May..... Bamba is coming. Cal is currently reviewing all of the threads on RR to make a final decision concerning taking Johnson or waiting on Knox to decide. Bamba is waiting on Cal to give him the go ahead to commit. That's all I got, which is nothing like most of the posters on RR. This is a fact Knox, Johnson and Bamba will commit sometime prior to our basketball season starting. Stay Tuned for more useless news.
Only thing that concerns me is shady dealings from Kshseskkysiniti and Duke. I kind of felt that Bolden last year was told to drag his decision out to mess with UK. Could Knox be in the same role this year? Drag it out until Johnson commits elsewhere and then commit to Duke?
I wouldn't put it past King Rat and Capel.
Fortunately we don't need Cam the way we needed a true center last season.

If Cal isn't going to promise Wall, Davis, Monk and others a starting spot this guys isn't getting one.
I've heard that he has a tendency to jack up a bad shot and sometimes, he can't even get it off. Although he's working really 'hard on' that aspect as he's always got a couple of balls with him trying to get better.

I agree. At this point, we can't be taking chances that would result in us getting nothing. Take Johnson, who can obviously play as he has been successful in the ACC for 2 years. I don't like to go against Cal when it comes to recruiting, but almost everything points to Knox going to dUKe or unc-Cheat
