Any update on cam Johnson visit

We'll know a lot by tonight or tmrw morning. A commit will not surprise me in the least and it's very very possible that it happens in the next 24 hours.

Not saying he is right about this, but this morning Jones said it is a dicey thing, because he's heard if UK asks him to commit, he will, but that they are still holding out hope for Knox and don't want to basically tell Johnson if they get Knox, he isn't needed.

I highly doubt the coaches are still realistically holding out hope for Knox. If they are they sure don't learn from previous mistakes. Knox has Duke or UNC written all over him. Take Johnson and run if you can get him. He's talented, experienced and should be around more than 1 year.

Agree with you.

Get Johnson and then focus only on Bamba.

Same here. Johnson just seems like a better fit, anyway, IMO. I know Knox is the better athlete & has a much higher ceiling, but we desperately need a reliable perimeter shooter & Johnson provides that & brings nice size & experience with it. And, with Knox being a freshman there is no guarantee that he'd be a better player or contribute more next year than Johnson would as a 4th year JR. Personally, I'd prefer two seasons of solid play from Johnson over one season of up & down play from Knox. I don't care who will be the better pro. All that matters is who fits best & gives us the best chance to win in 2018. I know you can't form an opinion from All-Star games but Knox just hasn't blown me away like he has most people. Maybe if we didn't have Vanderbilt or Washington I'd consider him a higher priority. Get Bamba & Johnson & call it a day.

They know Knox isn't coming here...its Duke. I think Matt just gave his bad opinion.

well if knox wants to come get on the dam phone and tell cal. in the meant time if I am Johnson I am screaming where do I sign I want KY now. first one in the door wins

This right here...having PJ and Vandy makes me say "meh" as far as getting Knox. Love Knox game but I think The other two are better all around players although not as good at shooting. Cam brings shooting AND can play sg

I think the staff can simplify who to take based on a key word you just said. Knox has a higher ceiling for sure, but he'll only be here for one year. So he may be better than Johnson in the long run, or maybe even by the end of the season, but is it worth the gamble? Is he THAT good? We shall see.

I think Jones is just attempting to create headlines. Calipari moved on from Knox weeks ago to focus entirely on Johnson.

Thank goodness he did. Johnson is the better player for next year's team and UK had a small shot to get Knox anyway.

Your looking at experience vs a freshman, give me the experience in this case, Knox would only be here for one year and Johnson prolly two.

If Johnson is good enough to be offered a scholly and he is wanting to commit, SIGN HIM. First come, First served.
Nothing I have read or heard gives us an edge in Knox recruitment. I want guys who want to be here. Wait around and get nothing.
Sign the Johnson.

So when Cal did the in home visit with Knox and said to his parents "please let me coach him" he was talking about Johnson?

It's really hard for me to believe that Cal would be holding out for a guy who announces in a week and hasn't the coaching staff he is coming.

In fact, it's hard for me to believe that a kid and his family would not know where he is going to be living and training in six weeks.

I emailed Cal the link to this thread and several others so he'll know what to do. I'm sure he appreciates everybody's help.

Cam won't announce until his school year is over, from what I understand. If Knox announces in early May, Cam may know where he is going before he signs.

Personally I would try to sign them both. We have three scholarships available.

There is definitely a wing player in this class you hold off on inking Johnson for.

That man is Jarred Vanderbilt.

Cam could play shooting guard and we might REALLY need him if Diallo hits the road.
Absolutely he could but that makes my argument even stronger. Knox could be used at shooting guard a little bit, but he's actually worse-suited for shooting guard than Cam is. If you're looking at Cam as a 2 guard, you definitely don't push him away on the slim chance that you might get Knox at 2 guard instead. And as I originally said, if you're thinking about the 3 spot then you do take Knox over Cam there, but the upgrade isn't enough that you actually give up your one bird in the hand there for two birds in the bush so to speak. At 3 you'd only do that with Vanderbilt (and obviously Michael Porter but he was never really on the table).

Cam is going to wait until the end of the semester to commit as was said by someone else.

Wanting to do everything by the book to maintain his 2 years remaining by completing all his classes before announcing. I respect that. Makes sense.

I'm sure others will take that as a sign that we no longer have a chance with jinx though. Ha ha. Big Blue MADNESS. You've got to love the madness!
