Shocking trade. I get it from the Lakers perspective. It may not help them much immediately since Luka and Lebron are somewhat redundant on the same roster, but Lebron has lost a few steps at his age and may retire as soon as this year now that he’s achieved his longtime dream of playing an NBA game with his son. Building around him no longer makes sense, but now they have a 25 year-old MVP candidate to be their next franchise cornerstone.
It makes a lot less sense for Dallas from what I can see. I somewhat get their concerns, but if they didn’t want to commit to Luka long-term, it’s hard to believe this was the best offer for him. They arguably got nothing of long term value back.
