Anthony Davis traded for Luka

I’m a Lakers fan but Luka has always rubbed me the wrong way. Probably because he doesn’t even attempt to play defense. Hopefully the change of scenery motivates him. Hate seeing AD leave for obvious reasons.

What a weird night!
Guess the Lakers are just going to try to outscore everyone now

This makes no sense to me . Luka is what 25 years old . You don’t just give up on that because of this being your worry
So they’d instead feel more secure building around a notoriously injury-prone 32-year old? That makes no sense at all.

But it’s surely gonna provide good fodder for the conspiracy theorists. So right when LeBron is about to ride off into the sunset …which means the NBA might no longer have a superstar on its flagship glamour franchise …Luka just drops in their lap? Hmmm….

You and I are completely the opposite. 😂 I like Luka and hate the Lakers.

It is a weird night. So much so, I am not sure if I should go to sleep tonight.

As a Celtics fan this worries man even though Lakers have no post d as of now. I’m sure they will get someone. I read this less as a post-LeBron future move as opposed to going all out to get him a final ring. Damn. This sucks.

Lebron is toast. I wish they would trade him next asap.

His dumb draft my hobbit son flex is gonna cost the Lakers too. Celtics will be to 20 plus titles by 2030 and lakers stuck on 17 due to lebron.

I wish, but I have a bad feeling. I want to keep the titles record. What if they get one more dog? Then we are screwed.

This trade is so unbelievable I had to check the account at least 5 times and then just thought maybe Shams was hacked .

Wow
Same here. So many people on social media make these photos with the technology out there that can make anything look legitimate.

I was a lakers fan from a small kid watching the showtime Lakers until after Kobe. They drafted Ball and that mess and I kinda quit caring. They signed LeBron and I was done. I love Luca’s game but he is such a baby. Now the lakers have two guys that can’t play off the ball and possibly the biggest two cry babies in the league. Sounds like a winner. 😂
Pretty much my story as well!

NBA is so unwatchable for me anymore this "huge" trade really does nothing for me.

I never really liked watching the Mavericks play because Luka just dominated the ball and most of his teammates just watched him and waited for a pass..lol

All I know is the Laker’s defense is about to be garbage. They weren’t the greatest with AD. Now you have two of the worst defenders in the league for starters and stars in old Lebron and Luka. No paint protection with AD. Gonna be interesting.
I think this fell into their laps, and you have to take the 25 year old MVP candidate, even if it sets back this season.

I totally get where Dallas is coming from after watching the Finals vs Boston. But MAN. Luka is also the reason you got to the Finals.

The Lakers got away with highway robbery. And now it's easier to make other trades to build a team that fits around Luka for the long term.

I'm a Lakers fan. Honestly it's been hard to get excited for the regular season because it always feels like they don't really have a chance at a title. And, even worse, we don't have a clear plan for the future.

Now you can build around Luka. I hope they trade LeBron.

In 2018, the Dallas Mavericks had one of the single best draft classes of all time.

Luka Doncic 1st round
Jalen Brunson 2nd round.

They now have neither. Have to think they regret letting Brunson walk.

Stunning trade, maybe the biggest trade in NBA history.

Sounds like Dallas was worried about Luca’s fitness and commitment to staying in shape.

I both get it, and don't get it.

He had an embarrassing performance defensively in the finals. You'd like to see the guy put in the effort to get into elite level "shape." And his body is basically the same.

On the flip side. That version of Luka got you to the finals. He's 25. He'll be in the MVP discussion every year for the next 7 or 8 seasons. He'll win 1 or 2.

And a Lakers franchise that felt trapped in mediocrity for years--now has climbed it's way back out of hell.

Maybe some more avid NBA watchers will know, but is there a bigger whinner in the league than Luka? He's pretty talented offensively, but every time I've ever seen him, he's complaining about something.

Shocking trade. I get it from the Lakers perspective. It may not help them much immediately since Luka and Lebron are somewhat redundant on the same roster, but Lebron has lost a few steps at his age and may retire as soon as this year now that he’s achieved his longtime dream of playing an NBA game with his son. Building around him no longer makes sense, but now they have a 25 year-old MVP candidate to be their next franchise cornerstone.

It makes a lot less sense for Dallas from what I can see. I somewhat get their concerns, but if they didn’t want to commit to Luka long-term, it’s hard to believe this was the best offer for him. They arguably got nothing of long term value back.

He played 76 games last year, 42 so far this year so I don't think he's missed a game yet and is on the list of possible MVPs. Talking shit about the player who brought us our most recent championship doesn't sit right with me.

This. We have some strange fans for sure. Davis is probably the most accomplished player ever at UK factoring n college, Olympic and pro successes.

To be honest I don’t give a damn what sits right with you.

Anthony Davis is one of my all time favorites. It was a joke that Barkley always says. If you can’t handle it, leave.

So again you can sit down and shut the hell up because you’re not gonna do nothing about it.

The only time lopsided trades like this happen is if the player demands out. Mavs probably just wanted something in return. Definitely is a win for LA.

Dallas doesn't want to hand out a supermax contract to an overweight uncommitted player who's weight will be a major concern going forward. Davis's injuries are attributed to banging down low whereas in Dallas, he doesn't have to do that so his injury rate should significantly decline. With Davis, you get the 30 points 15 rebounds a night along with the defense you do not get with Luka. Luka is like Hardin who needs to shoot a lot to be considered effective. Davis is a better team player and fits in better with 2 serviceable centers and Kyrie and Klay.

It’s already came out that Luka didn’t want to be traded. The Mavs contacted the Lakers on their own wanting to move him.

Just pure stupidity for the long term. Short term, it may get them a title?
