So, we've read the threads, so sorry to add another. But, I wanted an actual poll to see where people stand. Personally, I think this is much to do about nothing, and BBN wouldn't have booed Cal anyway. So what say you, BBN?...

I will probably take about 10 seconds to give him a lukewarm welcome with some half hearted claps and then from there forget about how good his first decade was and hope we kick his ass because he's on the opponent's bench.

If he were coming as anything other than a coach of an opponent less than a year after leaving I would applaud him because he gave us some great times.

I for one am ready to get this over with and move on with the season. I'm nervous about the game, yes, but mainly just tired of the local and national consternation about how the return will go.

Booing as loudly as I can. He held this program hostage for a long time for his own agenda. Maybe one day I’ll be slightly open to accepting him, sort of like Pitino, but he has earned my disdain for now.

Although I think it will be a smattering of boos that can be hear, maybe a few more cheers, mainly just a polite indifference, I'd LOVE to se Kentucky fans turn this narrative on it's head and cheer for him.

Is it that hard and difficult to show some appreciation for Cal? There was a time when my own feelings wouldn't have allowed for anything remotely polite for the man, but c'mon. Just think about it....

23,000 kentucky fans standing and cheering for the man ? The media and country would be impressed and HAVE to give fans props for being classy and respectful. I will be even more proud for us if we can be that way.

So I urge those going to the game to cheer, be cool. Be respectful. Regardless. Show class and dignity.

After all, the man gave us 4 final fours, a title, great moments in another golden era while he was here.

Now, if Cal were to have gone to Louisville to coach .....

LOL

SMH. sometimes the decisions one makes in life haunt you for the rest of it. I think Pitino regrets his decision to follow the NBA money instead of cementing his legacy at the greatest basketball program in history and staying put. I still think we would've passed UCLA in titles. And every other record, for that matter, for any other school.

But the dog would've caught that rabbit, had he not stopped to poop in the woods ....

Go Big Blue !

Every game I have ever attended at Rupp, we boo’d the opposing coach. This isn’t a scrimmage game or exhibition game and the fans, players and coaches better believe that Arkansas is going to come out fighting first. (IE: Rocky 4) Do what you want people, either way cheer the Cats to victory!

For those who want to boo. Do you think Cal doesn't realize he had worn out his welcome, that he was no longer wanted by most of us?
He must. So how about simply recognizing, "it was time for him to go, but we appreciate that he dug us from the 2nd worst place we had been for a coaching change (only what Pitino inherited was worse than what Cal inherited), even if he did stay too long".
Recall from the year before, he took over a team with 60% of our starting lineup the prior year being Perry Stevenson, Michael Porter, and Harris, and had lost 14 games. Between the 3 of them they couldn't average 18/gm. Probably should have been more loses if Jodie Meeks had not put us on his back.

I'm against booing him as I've already said.

But I don't buy the reason you're saying. He did take over when we were in a rough patch, but Billy was only here for 2 years and really hadn't done that much damage yet to UK. Cal had some phenomenal success for several years, but I think it could be successfully argued that he left the program worse than when he started. The years of no real success were just about as long and he left ZERO players. He also turned UK's reputation into Calipari One-N-Done U.

There's a big reason that everyone is so much happier with Pope and it doesn't have much to do with wins and losses.

I think standing and clapping respectfully would be nice, but definitely DO NOT give him the ovation that Pope received. He doesn’t deserve our best quite yet. Maybe if he returns again after he retires.

How bout we worry about winning the game?
I hope we as fans aren't letting this overshadow the game itself. Whatever the reception for Cal turns out to be we don't need fan reaction carry over to the first 5 minutes of the game. I would like to see the crowd be as loud as possible for the first few minutes of the game. Hopefully we have a strong start and take Arkansas out of the game in the first half.

I’d stay completely silent no doubt. I can understand the urge to boo a LOT more than the urge to cheer, though.

There will come a day Cal returns to Rupp and should receive a rousing ovation. Saturday ain’t that day.

it’s not gonna reflect poorly on the fans to boo and be loud and hostile… Pope gets it… he said he loves the drama. Loves that people care… amp up the drama and turn the place into a madhouse… it’s CBK.. create a passionate hostile environment. This golf clap stuff. It’s not your ex wife, it’s a basketball game. Make it fun.

If I were there, I'd for sure boo Cal. The way he talked to fans, the stuff he allowed, should never be forgotten. They weren't "mistakes", he showed us who he really was, what he was really about.

There isn't a single UK fan that I personally know that would ever be okay with Cal coming back to Rupp for anything other than to coach against UK or attend a benefit or concert. He is despised A LOT by A LOT of UK fans, whether some on here realize it or not.

If he is booed a lot by the fans ESPN will run with this and try again to put UK down plus it could fire up Ark. players to play their best. Best just to keep silent .

Gratitude.

Am okay with clapping because as UK fans we should be very thankful with how things worked out.

Now if Barnhart was there.... I wouldn't boo but wouldn't clap either because his contracts allowed all of this mess.

Go CATS!

ESPN will shade in the worst way possible(from a UK standpoint) no matter what the crowd does. If it could be pulled off silence would be the best possible outcome. For those who attend regularly what is the reaction when any other opposing coach is introduced?
