Andrija Jelavic commits to UK!

It’s likely…you aren’t wrong by any means

If one of them starts, it’s likely Jasper. But if he’s the backup 1 then I could see where he’s the backup 2 as well getting 20+ minutes split…. With the current roster construction, he’s the most versatile 1/2 tweener.

If he starts at the 2 then Chandler becomes your backup 1. Id rather have Jasper running the offense personally
I still contend that starting doesn’t matter as much as minutes. If we don’t add another guard, JJ is probably the backup PG and likely comes off the bench, playing some as both 1 & 2. Then you could go Chandler 2, Oweh 3, or Oweh 2, Williams or Dioubate 3.

ok so thats 5 big men, is this going to push Garrison out?
Garrison made the first move by removing UK from his account. Pope made the next move by signing another big. While Garrison is playing checkers, Pope is playing chess. What is Garrison's next move??? I guess he learned nothing from Lewis' experience.

The player is represented by a well connected agent in Europe. This will open the European market for Kentucky,
Well done Coach Pope!
I hope he has a banger season then, I have no worries he will look great in our offense and if he does all the Euros will come here especially the ones concerned about the athletes in the SEC.

Call me crazy, but I love those bad guy bad asses--Douglas in Wall Street, Jack in A Few Good Men, Darth Vader, heck even Ledger as Joker.

I would dispute this, but even to the extent it may have been true in the past, it no longer applies to today’s circumstances.

The top European prospects never wanted to play American college basketball before the NIL era. The best ones stayed in Europe unless or until they entered the NBA draft. The few that did come over were their lower tier talents that had limited options at home.

NIL money has totally changed that and suddenly made our college ball an appealing option to a whole different level of Euro pro. The Euros we’ll be seeing now ain’t like the ones we saw in the past.
Right he’s not a 17-18 year old coming over he’s 21 if I’m correct been playing pro ball for 2-4 years believe him and Bogoljub Markovic were teams Bogo plays in the summit tonight. The video below is from 2021 he’s in green #7

So we got our stretch four. Great news. Now get him over here so that he can start to adjust to life in the US so that we can get the tummy troubles over before the season starts.

Only question I have is can he defend and rebound at all?

This is huge get if we can get him cleared! Love it!

He is Croatian , about 6’11 last played in Serbia as Power forward and can play center.

Compared to Big Z, this guy is more mobile, and reliable, averaged :
-28 minutes so well conditioned
-11 pts / game , 60 % FG, 32.3% from3,
- FT 67.7% so not that great
- 7.4 rebounds (6 d, 1.4 o )

His first name Andrija is the equivalent of Andrew. “ jela” means “fir tree” , where “ic” means “son of” / descendent of … so “Andrew the son of Fir Trees “ .

He is one of the best European prospects. He will turn 21 in May, and very experienced playing 53 games for Belgrade, Serbia based Mega Superbet in the competitive Adriatic League the past two seasons.

Jelavic possesses a 7'2 wingspan, excellent mobility and the versatility and skill to slide all over the floor on both ends, making 52 3s in his 53 games the past two seasons. He can pass the ball and will be a big upgrade compared to big Z and will be a very nice replacement to Carr with higher upside.

Welcome to BBN!
Dobrodošli u Kentucky!
I'll just call him A train or Andy.

A lot more of them recently have played well, Denim for BYU, Kasparas Jakucionis for Illinois, Big Z and his Brother, Max Shulga , Emanuel Sharp, Danny Wolf, Henri Veesaar.
Illinois has another international kid coming, David Mirkovic he will be in the Nike game tonight and the German kid Steinbach went to Washington. Just some names to see how they do mainly Steinbach since he was a name thrown around early.

Quaintance at the 5. Backed up by Garrison. Moreno brought along slowly.

Garrison and Dioubate split minutes at the 4. Jelavic brought along slowly.

This gives the Freshmen time to adjust.

If one or both turn out to be elite, then they play more.

Or if Quaintance isn’t ready, we have one more body and do not have to use Noah as much at the 4.

This covers all the bases.

Glad to hear BG is sticking around.

Do not know if BG will stick around

Seems BG's role will not be larger than last year

Give us a break. We was just worried that we got a Andy Kennedy or Chris Mack. Heck even Sean Miller level coach. Things are looking up

Pope is even out-recruiting Calipari in Croatia!

Word must have filtered back to Zagreb and Dubrovnik about Cal misusing Big Z.

Seriously, I'm really excited about this guy after watching half an hour of video. A team of genius designers couldn't have come up with a prototype of a 4 for Pope's system much better than this guy. He's an NBA-caliber athlete, passer, runs the floor well, has the capacity to stretch defenses with his shot, has played at a high level in Europe.

I like that were making a pipeline in Europe and that were seeing, at least a little bit, euro player interest in Mark Popes system

Give me a few euro players every year and I'd be tickled pink. Tough and proven players who aren't spending their day on TikTok.

An interesting prospect. Runs the court well. Nice touch on the perimeter. I like addition to the team.

That’s how I see it too.

JJ is the backup 1 and 2 while getting starter minutes between the two positions. He and Lowe are the only 2 guys that are suited for the 1 and On our current roster.

Sure, Chandler can play the 1 in a pinch but I don’t think that’s ideal. Without adding another guard, it only makes sense to let Jasper backup the 1/2.

With the current roster I think we go big and Oweh/Williams is your 2/3. It de-clogs the front court that way if Williams is a SF.
