and this one belongs to the Ref's

Getting caught up on screens and not hustling to get thru and over them has little to do with the zebras. Sorry bro. I agree the calls weren’t even. But Kentuckys lack of urgency in the first half of games is getting pathetic and not what I would expect of a Kentucky team led by Mark Pope

My counter point here is that players are fully aware of the way the game is being officiating.. from HS to college to the NBA. It can get into their heads. If we can see it, the players certainly can see it.

Now I won't excuse the lack of effort.. you have to play through it. But it still has an effect on the way the players play the game. Eventually the players will respond. They might be frustrated, or they might think to not play defense because that's the only way they can not get fouled.

Losers always blame the refs. The same soft, no defense, no rebounding, lackadaisical play has been there since December. It’s been the same script every game, even the ones they have won. A leader needs to step forward and say enough is enough.
KY 25 fouls
GA 20 fouls
… just sayin’ … not lop-sided

Not falling for that.

We have to be tougher.
We have to play better.
We have to make shots.
We have to be ready at tip off.
We half-assed a road SEC game.
We f'ed around and found out.

Did the refs suck? Yes they did but it's not the reason we lost.
You saved me from having to post it. Ty

Blaming refs is for losers man.

I don't agree. Butler didn't let him land and made contact with his chest/stomach. Maybe it wasn't the strongest foul call, but Butler needs to not even put himself in that position.

I disagree. The UGA player did land, and he flopped... like the UGA guards did several times... I honestly questioned myself thinking that Duke was wearing UGA jerseys

Do you think there's any way you think this because you're a UK fan? And unless there's specific instruction to the referees to do this then it balances out and there are games where we get a few points we shouldn't have. And because things balance out over time I really don't get too worked up over a few calls here and there that seem questionable.

Conference refs aren't a thing in college basketball. These aren't SEC refs. They're refs who ref any game any conference will hire them for. I just don't buy that there's some grand conspiracy to tilt things against us a few times a year to keep games close.

Home court in college basketball has been the most important home court/field in all of sports for decades now. It's just a lot harder to win on the road in conference than it is at home.

Im sure theres some of it being a fan.

But im also a Houston/NBA fan, a UK/ND/college football fan, and a Jets/NFL fan.. and I've never seen officiating quite like Kentuckys.. and more ao, I've never seen officiating discrepancies quite like I do in college basketball as a whole, regardless of UK. Some of these home vs away games could be a 30pt difference, maybe more. Again, Tennessee tonight is a perfect example.

I don't think it's a conspiracy as much as it is the SEC not caring to protect it's bread winners, like say, the ACC does with Duke and UNC

Bullsht. We had to come back because of the bullsht officiating

Blaming the refs every game we lose is bullshit. UK got manhandled tonight and that’s why they lost. They played like shit and took the L like they deserved. Get better and win.

We lost the OSU game outright from bad play. This was taken from us. Its okay to admit that every now and again. Bad officiating can/does dictate the flow and outcome. If you don't think that then you're just wrong. Anyone that has ever played basketball/football/baseball/soccer....etc knows how deflating it is to have a sorry ass ref actively work against you. Yes it can be overcome but it shouldn't have to be in the first place.

Can't play good if you can't touch the other team. Especially when they get away with just about everything. I couldn't keep count of how many blatant hip checks UGA threw out on hand offs. I don't like complaining about refs. Haven't so far. Effort could have been better but it would have just been called a foul anyway. Don't blame any of the players personally that was a joke.

I don't blame the refs every time we lose. I don't know the last time I honestly thought "this one is on the refs."

Clemson wanted it more. They outrebounded us. They outhustled us.
Ohio State--we couldn't guard them. We quit playing our offense. Just really couldn't do anything right.

So hear me loud and clear and forever--not every game we lose is because of the refs.

This one was. Georgia was ALLOWED to manhandle us as you put it. We were not given the same liberty on the defensive end. We were called for several tic tac fouls.

At one point, the free throw total was 31 to 9. Kentucky shot more 2 point shots on the night. The normal response to the free throw differential is "Well that team went inside more." Nope. We took the ball inside 9 more times. They got 19 more free throws. The math don't math.

In reality, this might be an example of a game that the officiating likely didn't change the outcome. UK played so poorly and Georgia played pretty well (plus they are a top50 team in their own right), that we probably don't overcome the officiating issues.

However, there are several games every year, almost always road games, where UK plays good enough to get the win, but not good enough to get them out of a 8 or 10pt hole the refs put them in. Those are the times that a win gets taken from us, regardless of how we played. And I really dont see this in any other sport. I don't see it in the NFL or NCAAF, or the NBA. The calls aren't perfect, but there doesn't seem to be much of a disparity

The other problem is that the SEC seems to level the playing field, almost playing equalizer in an attempt to get more teams into the tournament, and that's always going to hurt it's top teams while helping help the rest. This weird notion in college basketball that the home team is basically just going to be given a plethora of calls is baffling to me. Look at Tennessee tonight.. think that outcome might be different if this was @Tenn? SEC needs to treat this like football: let their elite teams be elite, even if that means their Vanderbilt and MissSt's lose games.

Money corrupts and the $€C is all about the money

The ref complaints would also seem more legitimate if we didn't see the same thing after literally every single loss on this board. Every single loss is for some reason the refs' fault in some manner. Get's a bit old after a while.
We won against Florida. First 5 threads were about how horrible the officiating was. Free throws 2-1. Phantom Calls.
It’s not after a lose, It’s after every game.

I dont blame the refs for the loss , I BLAME THEM FOR US HAVING NO CHANCE TO WIN!!!!! they let UGA play extremely physical while touch fouls on us and then then our guys get shoved and the foul is on us? Guy slides several feet but no travel, that white boy flop that was atrociously bad but they still gave them the call....

if you look at the stats they were shooting as poorly as we were so without the horse sh*t officiating we still could have lost the game but the refs made sure we had no chance and if we had shot better, you'd just have seen more fouls called on us to put UGA at the line even more

Something close to zero intensity on the defensive end. All out effort on defense usually carries over to the other end of the court. Get better and get ‘em next time.

Refs have hated UK forever. Some teams are winners and rise above it.
I have always wondered why the refs seem to dislike us so much. I think Cal made it worse with his attitude, but it goes back further than that. Anyone have any ideas. I would really appreciate some insight.💙💙

We played poorly and got screwed. Both can be true. Hate losing to that Georgia team. They were not impressive…but here we are.

How come Kentucky shot more free throws in the last 2 minutes than they shot in the first 38 minutes?

Inquiring minds want to know?
I guess it looks better on the box score for the free throw disparity to be 38-19 than 38-11. It's easy to be labeled as soft when you get called for a foul every time a UGA player flops, throws his hands in the air, his head back and hits the floor. You have to adjust and try not to even get close enough to make any sort of contact to not get called for a foul when playing defense while on the other end guys are reaching, grabbing and slapping on every possession with no foul called. Did we play like dog crap? Yes we did. Was part of that due to the way the game was called? Yes it was.

In the final 3 minutes of the last 2 games when UF was fouling to stop the clock and the UGA game when the refs seemed to be making up for lost time to make the box score look better we shot 18 free throws to the opponents 10. The rest of the time for those 2 games the free throw disparity is 63-25 in favor of Florida and UGA. Is it a coincidence that their coaches whined and complained the entire game and Pope never seems to say anything to the refs and they got all the calls? Oh and in both games the opponents took a greater percentage of 3 point shots which normally indicates that they aren't going to the basket as much and shouldn't shoot almost 3 times as many free throws.

I just don't understand how the sec allows such horrible officiating. Even if you assume the best and assume they werent biased, they were still objectively terrible. How can the best sports league in college allow it to continue game in and out?

Probably the worst of the bunch was the call on the 3pt shot where the official literally wasnt even looking at the action but called a crucial foul anyway.

Thats just one in a sea of atrocious calls.

SEC officials are the worst in basketball. Always have been.

But they didn’t miss our layups for us.

They didn’t stand and let UGA have rebounds.

There’s bad calls in every game for both teams. More bad calls in an SEC game.

If you can make us an inside out team your chances of winning go up. UGA made us an inside out team and we didn’t adjust.

It wasn’t the refs.

We turned it over too much. That’s not on the refs either.

Something else, UGA made the decision to go after every post shot. They didn’t care if they got called for goal tending. They were message sending. And it worked.

Our guys were intimidated. Officials didn’t intimidate. Ga players did.

They are the worst collection of officials in basketball. At any level.

The SEC will never be a factor nationally as a basketball conference until they get serious about how the games are called.

The SEC has the best football officials because they want to have the best. They simply do not care about basketball.

I blame the refs for the Georgia player sliding 10 feet with no call.

Believe it or not it was the correct call. When you dive for a ball you can slide but you cannot try to get up. It doesn't matter how far you slide, if you roll, if you have no feet, one foot or two feet on the ground or not. As long as you pass the ball from the ground it isn't a travel. We used to cover this in HS and it goes against anything you would think is reasonable, but that's the rule.

I must say I fully expected it. That only ticks you off worse when you witness it play out.
Don Day another crook. Poole not good either. Get two together with their history no big surprise. One good example, Carr not allowed to clear space but right after that Cyril was allowed to clear space to score. Hard to believe Pope was OK with the rogue refs.

We’re a jump shooting/finesse team. Even when our guys drive, you can see they actively avoid contact. We’re gonna lose the ft battle a lot this year because of that.

They definitely care. Few years back they hired a basketball focused guy to increase the league's basketball footprint. He did it in spades.

So not caring isn't the answer.
