Almanor > Carr

You’re speaking of the old version of Carr in the present tense. The player you speak of will most likely never be seen again at UK.
No, I’m speaking of a healthy version of Carr. You, nor I, know if he will get back to full health, but our team is better if he does.

Carr is far more productive than AA when healthy. About the only thing AA does better is shoot 3s. Carr averages 8.4 rebounds per 40 minutes, AA averages 4.7. That's the biggest difference. Carr averages 1.8 steals plus blocks per 40, AA is at 0.7. Carr averages 3.4 assists per 40, AA at 1.1.

Oh man, you’re right. He’s perfect and has done no wrong. I shall never criticize him again. Thanks for helping me see the light!
You can do whatever you like.

Saying he doesn't know what he's doing after a win vs a top 5 team--when we're down Robinson and lost Butler in the 2nd half--doesn't give you a lot of credibility.

Almanor stunk it up for the previous two games before that. He's a pretty streaky dude. I agree, Carr didn't play well last night but you can't have a knee-jerk reaction to a guy who is still dealing with a back injury. Almanor also played well against UT the first time so it could be just a matchup thing.

It blows my mind how fast the fan base has flipped on Pope. Every game it is a constant bitch fest about what he isn't doing right, what he should be doing, and despite the fact he's so terrible according to some of our fans, he's taken a bunch of second-class dudes, won a lot of games against some great teams while dealing with a bunch of injuries. I guess it's just too much PTSD from the previous administration but Pope has it rolling here. The over-criticism at this post is goofy

They should be playing roughly equal minutes at this point outside of playing the one who is a better fit for the opponent, is performing better in that game/moment or if one is in foul trouble.

Saying that one person should be getting X minutes and another X minutes is just not an intelligent way to look at things and it discredits the strategy behind match-ups and exploiting weaknesses of specific opponents.

It also looks like a bit of a knock against Carr and I'm not a fan of that either.

Almanor had another solid outing and is now shooting 44.3% from deep. He played only 22 minutes, while Carr played 19. Almanor has had some quiet, disappointing games, but when he attempts more than 3 shots, he averages 11.7ppg.

Carr is now shooting 29.7% from outside and is averaging 7.4 ppg and 3.3rpg in SEC play.

Going forward, I’d love to see Almanor play closer to 30mpg and Carr play 10mpg at the max.

Do you think Pope will do this? And if not, what exactly do you think he’s seeing out there that we aren’t?
Agreed. Carr is just so slow and unathletic. Unless he gets back to playing like he did early on, Almanor especially with his 3 point shot, is the better option

One thing I don’t like about pope is he sure acts like his players are 70 years old. I’ve never seen a team require so many breathers.

In listening to Pope talk about it, the purpose is tracking to see when the players' productivity starts dropping. So, could they be in the game? Sure

But the question comes down to - is it better to keep player ____ (Oweh for example) on the floor knowing his production is going to worsen, or is the sub going to produce similarly to a 75% Oweh while he's getting a breather?

This way, you get rested 100% Oweh back on the floor sooner as opposed to burning him out more before subbing him, and then he needs a longer rest. Either way, he MUST come off the floor for a sub...so, is giving him shorter, more frequent breaks better for him and the team over the course of the game?

Honestly, considering how well this team has closed out games, it's hard to argue against the strategy b/c we all saw them surge against Duke, Zags, and UT last night.

I can’t see any scenario where Chandler should be seeing the floor right now unless it’s mop up duty. He’s kills us on offense more times than he helps us. Yes I know he had an assist last night, but other than that he is very turnover prone and cannot make an open shot.

The last few games, it seems as if he has been in specifically to play defense on the primary wing scorer, and he has done that pretty well. I may be remembering incorrectly, but I think it was against UT the first time that he was guarding Lanier quite a bit. So, the more he can be the "chaser" and expend a ton of energy on the defensive end, the more it allows guys like Jax, Koby, Oweh to save energy for the offensive end.

So, I agree he has really struggled on the offensive end, but the benefit he brings right now won't show up in the stat sheet...except for the poor performance of the guy he's guarding.

In the UT games, Lanier was
@ UT 5/14, 3/10 from 3pt range
@ UK 3/13, 0/7 from 3pt range

I know Chandler wasn't the only one guarding Lanier, but when he was in the game, that's who he was guarding.

Carr led the team in +/- last night with +16. Further evidence of the absolute stupidity on display by some posters.
I agree with your point here, but I think technically Noah led the team at +18. But what you are saying is still valid. Almonor (who I love as a player) was negative last night.

So this thread really is stupid. I was trying to be diplomatic in my first reply, though.

KSR said Carr and Noah tied at +16 but not sure if they were 100% accurate though.

He is a plus athlete that can guard wings and will get more comfortable on offense. He is raw but there is some real potential there for later this season if he keeps progressing, especially with the injuries.
