All Time UK vs Kansas: 7-1 At UK, 8-1 Neutral , 7-4 At Kansas

At best Kansas is Wichita St. little brother. Don't get me wrong. Kansas has a good little basketball program. It just pales in comparison to the team with the most wins in history. Not only do we have more wins than Kansas. We have more NCAA championships, more Final 4's, more wins head to head, a larger fan base, and better facilities In other words when Kansas grows up they want to be Kentucky.

All fair and all facts (although not 100% sure about the "Less NCAA Infractions).

And KU has the following over UK:

*Been around longer (admittedly only 5 years).
*Fathered Adolph Rupp, John Calipari - among the roots of much of UK in the first place.
*Been to the NCAA Tourney every year since their probation year in '89 (longest streak in the nation). Kentucky in the NIT not all that long ago, under Calipari at that & lost to freakin' Robert *Morris when in it.
*Have an = number of Championships since your current coach got there & victory for their Championship was over your current coach.
*55 points in '90 (could have been worse!) :)...see what I did there.
*Have never had a player ruled ineligible as an amateur (a'la Enes Kanter)
*First Champion in a Final Four with only 1-seeds.
*The worst any coach has done, except for the first (the inventor of the game, James Naismith) was to make a Final Four (Ted Owens) - Phog Allen (Championship), Dick Harp (Championship Game), Larry Brown (Championship), Roy Williams (Championship Game) & lastly Bill Self (Championship AND Championship Game).........can UK say that w/ E. Sutton, Gillespie, etc.?
The OP has completely owned the KU regulars here. This post (even though it's full of KU bs spins) is my single favorite post a KU fan has ever made here. The desperation to be relevant to UK fans is quite comical.

I never knew the how important it was to KU fans to be perceived to be on the same level as UK. The KU fans are really trying daily here. It's cute.

BTW, KU fans. Using the "your best coach came from here" and then flip flop and say only 1984 to now matters is hilariously stupid. You guys are probably to ignorant and desperate to understand.

Why shouldn't Kansas fans get to claim Rupp and Dean Smith? That's part of what makes Kansas great. Along with their success (Top 5 all-time), they may have the game's greatest history. I can't deny them that. In fact, I have a lot of respect and admiration. If Kansas fans all acted like they were UK's peer instead of reeking with insecurity, then I wouldn't have a bad word to say about them. They have some good posters who post here- RC being one of them.

I just think it's funny Kansas fans spent the first half of this thread arguing that the lashings we gave them pre1984 don't matter and the second half of the thread pulling up ancestry.com to prove why they're relevant.

Just remember, Jayhawks, here is no scope, statistic, or frame of reference you will ever use to overcome this simple math:

22>6
8>3

End of story.

With the exception of poor officiating, I'm really not worried that this is at Kansas. It'll be loud, and hostile.. but it's a late game for OOC. We'll be ready.

I always worry about road games, especially against good teams with raucous arenas. Duh.

What's funniest to me about these pissing contests between fan bases is that not one of you actually played for either school. You happened to be born in Kansas and you in Kentucky. Or your dad got you hooked making you watch Kansas or Kentucky growing up. Or you just picked either team for some arbitrary reason (I like Southern Cal football because I watched them playing Notre Dame on TV when I was a kid). Everything my team accomplished counts. Everything your team accomplished doesn't, because a) it happened before I started following my team, b) you cheat/have all the advantages, or c) you don't play as tough a schedule.

We're all bragging about a bunch of kids who just shake their head when they think about us. Kansas and Kentucky players, if they saw each other somewhere, would probably hang out because they have a heck of a lot more in common with each other than they do with us.

It's time we fans all get together and sue the NCAA.

**This is stupid.

Kentucky could pretty much say that about ANY OTHER team.....not JUST Kansas.

Why do you feel the need to berate KU?

**So, you're saying easier than a game at Vandy, huh? Geesh!

This is the kind of crap & disrespect I'm talking about.

I respect UK. Why can't you do the same as it applies to KU? I know your coach respects KU.

You wonder why I "troll"?

I don't! - or at least not as I understand what "trolling" is. I understand trolling as someone who incessantly rips on a team's bboard non-stop. I don't come on here and start ripping UK left & right. And I'll even acknowledge that UK's probably King or no worse than 2nd fiddle to Duke in the College Basketball World right now.

The only things I say on here that get you riled up are simply my defenses for KU given their success both overall and recently.

MANY of you on here act like they don't matter and pretty much anyone outside of Duke is "beneath" UK & not worth any consideration or concern, etc.

Well, geez, thankfully for you, your players don't have that same attitude or they'd sure be in for some rude awakenings.

No whining on RR.

If you're going to have a good cry about how KU is treated here, then maybe you're not ready to put on your big boy pants.

This is exactly what many UK fans were saying about KU fans. They really are seeking acceptance.

I don't have a problem with Kansas. Coming to a UK message board to tout how great the KU basketball program isn't going to get the best of reactions. The only program UK takes a back seat to in any real category is UCLA. I think we will catch them.

Good luck to Kansas just don't try to compare trophy cases or passion for basketball with UK it is not a winning formula.

***All right. I got it.

I know what it's like to have an underling challenger swear they're on par as a sports fan in other ways and can see your side of it.

Cardinals fan here & what it's like dealing with Cubs' fans or pretty much any other NL fans - though Giants' fans can maybe have some bragging now.

Start from '84 because HOW MANY OF US WERE EVEN WATCHING before then?

I'd be willing to bet not many. Oh, the great memories of those '70s UK teams you all have. I mean yeah, of course, there's some older folks on here, but I'd be willing to bet that the majority are between 18 - 45....not say 55 & older.
84 is over 30 years ago. How the hell can you make fun of 70s memories and then point to 1984 with a straight face? It's not logical.

And that's because it's entirely arbitrary to suit your propaganda.

So what is less arbitrary?

Going from the beginning of time is the least arbitrary... No special cutoff, no agenda served.

You could do something like the last 5 years (casual fans) or 10 years (hardcore fans), because it suits your "vivid memory" argument much better than your hilarious 1984 starting point.

Similarly, you could do since both coaches have been at their current schools, because without knowing this year's teams, that method might offer the best predictive power.

Finally, you could do since the beginning of the "modern era" of the game, either 85 for the 64 team tourney or 86 for the 3 point shot.. Notice how those are two really reasonable possible starting points, but KU fans decide to go 1/2 years right before it... If that's not a sign of little brotherly convenient timeframe, I dunno what is.

And nearly all of the mentioned less arbitrary timeframes UK reaches from moderately to vastly better.

Stop acting like little brothers. You're a top 3 program of all time. You're just not one. Deal.

My comment had nothing to do with the fact that it's Kansas. I worry about officiating for ANY road game. I understand road environemtns are always tough. But this game isn't in early December, it's late January. Our team will be settled in. Phog provides an advantage, but I don't think it will be enough. I don't think you guys are any better than last year. Mason is still Mason and Ellis is still Ellis.

Let me make this perfectly clear, and I speak for a lot of people here... I don't care about Kansas. No, that's not "I don't care for Kansas". I'm not ate up with them on a daily basis. They don't matter to me. I don't know how else to say it. We've handled you through the years, we've handled you to perfection under Calipari, and we certainly handled you last year.

Now please, get the f*&^ of my damn pant leg.

Can we talk about the fact after this game KU will have played us 12 times on their court and 8 times on ours? What's up with that?

Also, KU is getting to play back to back home games in the B12-SEC challenge. The other team that gets to do that is Iowa State. No SEC teams doing that.

The inventor of basketball James Naismith was born in Canada and Phog Allen was born in Missouri. Using Kansas fans logic, they should be grateful to the Canadians and their arch rivals Missouri for bearing the 2 stalwarts of Kansas basketball.

***Um, that - "Mason is still Mason and Ellis is still Ellis" - is EXACTLY why you should expect them to be better.

Carry-over in terms of MOST teams not named Kentucky is a GOOD thing and rarely do you not see improvement from college kids.

They carried over because the NBA didn't want them at that point (at least to their expectations). If we still had Anthony Davis last year, then something went wrong.

Decent players with another year of experience are still decent players. They are who they are.

I understand that you are trying to make a point. But you are way off-base. It's not their birthplace that makes them Jayhawks. What makes them Jayhawks is that they coached and taught at Kansas. In Dr. Naismith's and Dr. Allen's case, it was for a combined 83 years. Even if they had been there for a season, it does not take away they were Jayhawks. Once a Jayhawk, Always a Jayhawk. Coaches, Players. I am sure you have the same feeling for Anthony Davis who only spent one year wearing a Kentucky uniform but will always be a Wildcat.

Double speak. Two faced. Unable to understand simple logic. That describes YOU, KU troll.

And by the way, since we're on the subject, the game of basketball wasn't invented in Kansas, either. However, murdering Redlegs sure were.

There are some really awful threads in this forum, but this might be along the lines of absolute worst....

-----

Point: UK has a good record against Kansas.

Counterpoint: YEAH WELL KANSAS INVENTED BASKETBALL AND TRAINED THOSE COACHES TO BEAT KANSAS! HERE'S AN ARBITRARY METRIC I CAME UP WITH THAT SHOWS WE'RE EQUAL.

Kansas fans chirping. Kentucky going to have to tax that ass again soon. Bills are due, time to collect.

1. If you wanna go all philosophical, you can give this exact speech about absolutely anything (including life and death situations) and then come to the conclusion that nothing really matters - and nobody can logically disprove you on it, because the significance of absolutely anything in the universe is up for debate depending on your worldview. At the end of the day, we all choose to retain deep passion about certain things that are (or seem to be) entirely arbitrary.

2. One of those arbitrary distinctions for me is that I don't take seriously the opinions of the type of fan who cheers for USC in football and Kentucky in basketball (regardless of the age at which you started - unless you're an alum of both schools or something similar). Being a frontrunner is actually something that the majority of sports fans everywhere can rally against. [winking]

I sure you will be as insightful on the Kansas Boards as you are on Rupp Rafters...

I don't troll. I only post here. You do just the opposite. Go away, and fly a kite.

And yeah, at least I have enough brains than to troll on another teams' board. What does that say about you?
