All 5 returning?

The guy can coach. That much is obvious. I'm starting to get genuinely worry about his ability to get the best talent though.
Pope put together a roster in his first season that was talented enough to win a National Championship. If any of the 4 teams remaining had their 2nd and 3rd best shooters out for the year and a limited starting PG and PF most of the season, that team would not have made the Final Four.

This means that we will have (at least) 4 native Kentuckians as scholarship players, at least 3 of who will be regular rotation players. You have to go back many years, probably the Unforgettables, since that has happened.
Is this a good thing tho? Not sure a third of the team being from the blue grass state is a positive

2 of them are in the top 25 though. Don't matter where they are from. Its like saying a guy with a name like jag cat gotta be a jag off either right or wrong. lol

I kinda have mixed feelings about this. I think a couple of portal players were definite upgrades over what we have now.
Yall are really underselling these 5. I could maybe take BG or leave him but I also see him as Nick Richards 2.0.

Oweh will be one of the best players in the country next year.

Perry may be the most limited but that kids senior day will be epic. He will leave here a legend

Chandler and Noah…..does anyone really want to see those 2 walk? Richie Saunders would have Been awesome for Kentucky. Good thing we already have The younger bouncier version and we will have him for 3 more years in chandler. Wiukd
You really want to wave goodbye to a sophomore Noah for a portal kid with less eligibility? If either of these two kids leave I promise you they will kill it some place else and break our hearts.

But then again this is the fanbase that still clamors for big Z to return. SMH.

Do you think Pope already knows who he gets and is keeping it quiet ? He is good at keeping things pretty close to the vest.
That would mean he's meeting and zooming a lot of kids now that he has no interest in signing and I don't think that's anything like Pope.

I want them all 5 to return and hope that guy is correct. Returning 5 players for continuity is much better than what we were accustomed to with one and done freshman mass exodus. Or the Fail and Bail transfer culture before the NIL and transfer portal era. We get the growing pains and another school benefits from their experience.

You're a tubbyfan and your worried about Mark not getting talent . What am I not getting here
Having raised three children, I've got to say it was a much more tolerable show than Barney. If I had to pick one to be a fan of, I'd probably go with Timmy the Tooth. I do understand the love for the Telly Tubby Land though, that baby face in the sun along with the laugh was adorable.

Last year at this time we did not have 1 player on a team that went S16 and if not for injuries could have achieved more. Ask 2 FF teams playing this weekend. The Same coach that built that team is in charge and has returning players, a highly rated recruiting class coming in, and 1 portal player the NBA has their eye on. I do not think we need to lose any sleep. This team is in good hands.

Count me in on the pro continuity camp. I will gladly welcome back all scholarship players from last year with remaining eligibility with open arms.

Some of us have shiny object syndrome something awful.

We said don’t want brand new teams every year. Many of us have yearned for roster continuity for years. Then, we get a coach who wants to build his program that way and a wing of the fanbase suddenly wants to push out current guys for shiny, unknown objects in the portal or high school.

Yeah I really don't care about getting the "best" transfer portal talent. The rankings are often wrong anyway, and signing the top guys doesn't automatically lead to success. A lot of the guys in the SEC who punched us in the mouth this year weren't highly ranked in the portal.

Amari was ranked in the 80s last year and by the end of the year he was a machine. Give me guys that Pope feels are fits for the program and keep them in the program for a few years. I think that's the path to success here.

I'm much more concerned about who stays and not so much who is signed.
How dare you bring logical and rational thinking to a good coach Pope bashing session.

Really and truly this should be viewed as the best portal news we could get. If Kriisa is the only portal casualty, then we are in very good shape.

To me, retention is the biggest key to success for a program. If you constantly have to reload, you have no continuity.

If the system is good, then the players should get better every year they play in it.
