Alabama

Money and the unlimited transfer portal has changed a lot more than demographics, Altmeyer would maybe still be at Ole Miss, instead of Illinois, and Quinshon Judkins would still be at Ole Miss as well, instead of Ohio State. But the B10 has always been tough at the top, I never said otherwise, just not quite as good as the SEC most years.

Speaking of OSU, a friend who is a Tennessee alum was grousing yesterday about the ass whipping the Vols took in the playoffs, and with a straight face claimed, "we lost to the best team money can buy". I damn near spit my beer out laughing, come on now, how much is Nico getting paid???
That's rich 😝😝😝😝

Bama, Tennessee, and South Carolina have all lost to Big Ten teams this bowl season.

Oklahoma, the team that beat Bama, lost to Navy.

Maybe just maybe, stop proclaiming automatic wins cause someone plays in the SEC.
Still a winning record in bowl games but not the usual dominating record the conference has. Along the way they have had a mediocre postseason record a time or two over the last 20 years so I need to see it more than once to think it means the environment has caused an ongoing change. Makes uk’s record all that much more disappointing if the sec isn’t even the sec this year.

Saying its the best conference isnt proclaiming theyll win every bowl game.

For sure. Sec is the toughest not because of the top, but because of the bottom. There are no easy games. Definitely no easy wins.

The SEC was way down this year in terms of dominant teams. They aren't going to win it this year. It will be O St or Oregon, especially with UGA QB hurt. I don't believe in Texas, they got a love letter from SEC in scheduling and lost 2 times to the only elite team they played. Pen State will be exposed in next round. I like Oregon to win it, they have the best defense.

You want to know why the QB market is stupid, you can’t win consistently with inconsistent QB play. It is also the one position that is the hardest to evaluate. Most can’t just change their offensive system to fit the QB. Milroe doesn’t want to be a running QB. His NFL future depends on being able to pass.

You miss at QB in the portal good luck.

I agree. Uga was the only team with a chance, and even that wasnt a great chance. His influencer gf derailed his season before injury.

The one caveat is if texas actually plays Arch. It's bad enough they have clearly the better qb on the bench, but its legit crazy he's also probably the best qb in cfb. They just willingly choose ewers, and it will cost them.

As i posted a few times in a few threads, what made the sec so insane wasnt the top, it was the bottom. There were no games off and no easy wins. Everything was a war, every Saturday.

The Vols are the team that started this crazy NIL bidding by buying Nico, sued the NCAA for some reason because him and about 20 family members were getting flown cross country on a private jet connected to UT. Now it's coming back to bite them, schools are tampering with their roster, OSU, Mich are deep into it, and they are accusing other teams of buying players. I don't care who the vols play, i am for the other team. Pre the OSU game, a few vol fans i know were crowing how they were back, they must have been kidnapped because they haven't been heard from since that game.

So how is Milroe the third rated QB in this NFL draft…behind Sanders and Cam Ward?

I’ve seen Milroe totally exposed with NFL players galore surrounding him at Bama many times….and even when he’s balling…usually it’s designed run heavily involved

He’s almost like Anthony Richardson 2.0….i see nothing but a late round pick that I’d hop to develop

These draft gurus are sort of pointless to a degree

Anthony Richardson, draft combine warriors. Such a dumbass pick. He sucked in college.

Every single year, every year, they overvalue a QB in the draft and elevate them passed their actual talent. You’re seeing it with Sanders too.

These guys now get two years and teams are done with them if they don’t have some type of immediate success.

Media narrative is very powerful.

Arch may very well be the best qb in college, but making that claim today is making it on his last name, not what he has done in college.

He just hasnt had the opportunity. He changes everything for texas. With ewers, everything is short or horizontal. Arch opens up the whole field. Then add his insane athleticism and he makes them a completely different team.

I have to agree…Arch may not be elite…but man Ewers has shown consistent warts with NFL guys all over the place

Dude throws great lob balls with the speed WR to run under them etc. but his throwing middle of field is a disaster many times

In the NIL era, there will always be the same handful of teams that are competitive every single year with the rest of college football being middle of the pack hoping to have a year where they can win it and then fall back.

Ohio State, Texas, Bama and Georgia should be consistent staples in this model. Oregon will probably rule the west.

Then there’s the rest of us.
Not sure Bama can stay with that group. Not enough money. That state is a carbon copy of Kentucky. Same GDP and at least Kentucky has a billionaire. Alabama has none. I see OSu, Texas, usc, Oregon, dominating this thing. Schools like bama and UK may be toast

Alabama’s athletic department is like top three in revenue. We are number 16. They have a ton of major donors, I believe. We basically have the Kraft family.

Everything i have read is bama can't compete with the big dogs in NIL like Texas, Ohio st, Michigan, and Oregon. Remains to be seen. But believable with no true major city and a small state like Alabama. Very similar to ky.

maybe bama turns out to be fading or maybe they’ve just had to play with what has been an inconsistent qb that didn’t really improve from last year. They had similar issues with him last season too but you had the greatest coach of all time on the sidelines. Why it has to be NIL everything when it could just be they don’t have saban anymore…I mean they weren’t dominant before saban got there. We’ll see over time.

Could you imagine having to follow a legend like Saban? Deboer's days were numbered the second he said yes to the job.
Alabama made a mistake with their coaching hire. Winning in the SEC is different than anywhere else. The Tide should have looked for SEC coaching experience, Kiffin was the obvious choice.

Hopefully Bama will fade. I think UGA will remain great. Ole Miss is a head scratcher for me.
