Alabama - Michigan Texas - Washington

The rules kind of screwed WA although they ended up winning. First, the PI on TX late - instead of a 50 yard penalty like it would be in the NFL and put WA into easy FG range, it's only 15 yards in college. So, in some instances it's a smart move to get a PI because it only means 15 yards vs a long completion.

The WA injury stopped the clock and gave TX about 25 more seconds. That doesn't make much sense. Once the player is off the field, the clock should have started and WA should have been able to burn 25 more seconds. Weird rule, imo.

Washington coach screwed up royally by not having the QB take a knee on 3rd down. Almost bit him in the ass big time.
You’re serious? That still would have left 25 seconds. You’d be the first one here saying “if they had ran the ball and gotten the 3rd down we wouldn’t be having this conversation” if the coach did what you said and Texas managed to win it in that short time.

I literally can not think of a reason or situation where a coach would ever “take a kneeL if it meant they had to punt the ball and give it to the other team with time left. Just silly. Happens in the nfl every week. You try to pick up the first down by running the ball to end the game.

The injury was bad luck. Not a bad playcall. The rule itself is stupid. You can wind the clock like every other incident like that. Change the rule. Teams are basically encouraged to try to injure another teams player in order to get a free time out with this setup.

The rule itself is stupid.

^x 1000. Penalizes WA for bad luck that one of their players got hurt. If TX player was the one hurt, time gets run off. Bad rule that almost cost WA the ballgame. No way TX can get so close if they only have 20-25 seconds when they get the punt.
