He's at the Rivals QB Challenge this weekend. Gonna go get that 5th star. Per JRowland, will likely visit next weekend (while our team is actually practicing).

This. I think this is our QB after Towles graduates. Kid is for real!

According to Rivals he is a much better prospect, a top 30 ranked kid, on the verge of being a 5*. So the people at Rivals feel he is.

Have no idea if Kindall's better but he's rated higher than Barker was, for FWIW.
KEndall is rated a 6.0 for what it is worth, next door to a 6.1 five star. And there are only about 35 five stars each year. For comparison Barker was a 5.9, and Towles and Woodson 5.8s

For what all that is worth. I would be very happy if Towles matched Woodson's stats as a junior and senior, Barker was a tad better, and Kendall was better than all of them.

All pie in the sky right now, in fact we may not even end up with Kendall-----but whoever we get will probably be pretty good with the other talent we are bringing in and should have better support than the QBs ahead of him if we continue to build our program. The next step is to win some more games this year., not a lot more, just keep improving and be competitive.

Impossible to say. Both have a lot of talent. Neither has played in a college game. Barker hasn't played in a real football game of any kind since 2013. And it doesn't matter. If Kendall actually signs with Kentucky, Towles will be a senior and Barker a sophomore the day Kendall steps on campus. Which means Kendall would probably get a redshirt year, just like Barker got a redshirt. Which means Barker would be a junior by 2017 when Kendall would be on the playing roster as a freshman. With that much discrepancy in experience, the question of which quarterback is better becomes a lot more complicated.

In just what shape or form does it matter what AK is rated/starred? Will we want him more or less because of that rating? Will he turn out better or worse because of the rating? Will any different schools want him? Will he pick a different school because of it?

Well, everyone knows that how you are rated/starred often misses the target. But then it is stupid to say how an overall class is rated means nothing, and usually the higher you are rated the more accurate the rating or ranking is. And yes, we will probably want him more because of that rating, in fact it could help our class a great deal in recruiting, if not from him attracting more talent (he would) but because it would help Drake (and others, including our coaches) in their recruiting. He may not turn out better because of the rating but it shouldn't hurt him, wouldn't you think, in fact if he turns into a five star (next step) it might make him play better because he might have better skill players around him because of that since he plays the all imporrtant QB position. And yes, if he got a fifth star maybe USC and Oregon, etc, might start paying a lot more attention, which could also end up with him picking a different school because of it..

Kendall to UK would be a big deal, in large part because of his rating/stars. I still think that UK had no choice but to try their best to get hometown Boyd whether they thought he was a four star or not, and I also think just getting him might have improved our recruiting and team and not just in that year.

UK and the coaches need all the positive attention they can get, still a little upset that Rivals has us with ZERO points for three very good commits we have that would make us look a lot better, UK starting off fast and being ranked NUMBER ONE in recruiting for such a long time in 14 most certainly helped our recruiting in 14.

And we only lost ONE commit, that one that blew up and ended up at Nationl Champon FSU.

sounded pretty good. won some award for best spiral, however that is judged. not sure if he impressed them enough to get bumped up to a 5th star or not.

Thanks. Best spiral?

The cynic in me says he won't get that fifth star if he commits to UK. Auburn UF or Michigan...maybe.

"Well, everyone knows that how you are rated/starred often misses the target. But then it is stupid to say how an overall class is rated means nothing, and usually the higher you are rated the more accurate the rating or ranking is."

We've offered him. So what does this after-the-fact event matter? As for overall class rating, yes, higher is a general good indicator. But stars given/taken after an offer are irrelevant to recruiting the player.

"And yes, we will probably want him more because of that rating,"

How much more than an offer & intense recruiting can we do?

"in fact it could help our class a great deal in recruiting, if not from him attracting more talent (he would) but because it would help Drake (and others, including our coaches) in their recruiting."

Easy to claim, but how can anyone prove it, "it" being whether AK is 3-4-5*?

"He may not turn out better because of the rating"

Really? I'd say it doesn't matter at all.

"but it shouldn't hurt him, wouldn't you think,"

See previous answer.

"in fact if he turns into a five star (next step) it might make him play better because he might have better skill players around him because of that since he plays the all imporrtant QB position. "

Not at all. His numbers probably would be better, but that doesn't make him better. QB's at 12-0 AL & 5-7 KY put up identical numbers. Would you say they are equal talents?

"And yes, if he got a fifth star maybe USC and Oregon, etc, might start paying a lot more attention, which could also end up with him picking a different school because of it."

Fiction. Every school that might ever recruit him already know what they think of him, stars be damned.

"Kendall to UK would be a big deal, in large part because of his rating/stars."

Not in the least. The staff doesn't care if he's 3-4-5*, They want him.

"I still think that UK had no choice but to try their best to get hometown Boyd whether they thought he was a four star or not,"

What that has to do with AK today escapes me.

"and I also think just getting him might have improved our recruiting and team and not just in that year.

Go for it.

"And we only lost ONE commit, that one that blew up and ended up at Nationl Champon FSU."

Blew up does not equal stars/rating.

"What that has to do with AK today escapes me"

I didn't bring up the subject.

Too much time and effort to argue with you but I think a lot is escaping you. Kendall is probably more important to UK than that other five star we didn't get and a lot of it does have to do with his rating/ranking. By the way the last five star we had commit was last century. The only time UK has been even slightly relevant this century has been when we have had good QB play, not to mention Couch, and the buzz and progress that should have created was killed by probation. Along with another decade of shameful support for our football program.

No way he starts over Barker. I would bet Kendall redshirts and Barker will be a redshirt junior by then. I stay he will start his redshirt Jr and sr years. Barker might start this coming season. Way more natural talent and I bet he gets some snaps. I wouldn't doubt we see a 2 quarter back system this year with the talent we have at that position.

Just saw a tweet where he's visiting Oklahoma this week. Must be his spring break this week. Hopefully he gets there and realizes he wants to be BLUE.

I wish he wasn't visiting OU. But he does know Lincoln Riley and I'm sure that's the pull. Bob Stoops seat in Norman is warm after that beat down Clemson put on them. He's betting on Riley putting them back in the hunt for a big 12 title. Norman is a long way from North Carolina though.
