After getting Dioubate, if we still can get alvaro

Lowe, Chandler, Johnson, Williams, Lewis, Oweh, Noah, Dioubate, and Perry all figure into the guard/wing equation. That’s a lot of competition for 3 spots.

So? Williams was a small forward at Tulane. And he weighs 190 pounds.
Taylor Bol Bowen that will start at PF or C for Alabama is 195.

I'm not here to tell you Williams is a PF as his primary position. But he could certainly take the backup minutes.

We had 12 and thought we'd be super deep and before you knew it we had games with 8-9 available. Add foul trouble in the SEC and I think you have to have 13. We need a stretch 4 and a top guard. We really need 2 studs to finish out the roster to feel better than last year.

When healthy, all the way healthy, Butler, Williams, Carr, Brea and Robinson are a lot to replace. Remember when healthy and beating teams like Dook, Zags and FL, these guys were dam good. I think it gets a little lost because of how many injuries one after the next and this group not getting to play as a full unit all that much.

If we want to be next level better than this year we need to finish with 2 cant miss studs.

Robinson was 6’7, 190-ish and played some 4 at BYU for Pope. Not saying we don’t need another PF, but it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to see Pope play an undersized guy at the 4. Heck, he played Noah at the 4 at times this past season when Carr was out.

Well we need another big. Can't go into the year with only 3 big men, one of which is only 6'7 and the other is a freshman.
I agree. We need a big and a shooter. Starting to become hard to see how a legitimate player at either spot would come to UK with 10+ other guys already here.

Maybe rim protection is a tad overrated? Kentucky's best team in history didn't have much rim protection with that 1996 roster.

The real key is stopping triple penetration.
Mathematically, I’ve found that rim protection has been less important in recent years. Need to be able to generate steals, though, unless you play amazing first shot D and rebound every miss.

Doesn't have to block shots, just make it harder on the driver to make them. But, if you don't have a good rotation, giving up rebounds because you try to block shots can KILL you.

Why don't we wait until the roster is finalized before we bitch about it. You think the staff is sending Jones roster updates while he's in Amsterdam? I like Matt but he doesn't know shit about what Pope has planned.
Matt probably secretly wishes he were based in North Carolina.

We need more shooting, too. I really hope this commit doesn’t push AF somewhere else. Idk where the spacing is gonna come from based on what we have right now. That’s not ideal when your offensive system is dependent on perimeter shooting. Kam Williams, Chandler, Oweh & unproven FR aren’t close to enough.

We desperately need a stretch 4/5. I like Dioubate, but, not as the starting 4 in this offense. It would be different if he was surrounded by shooters. But, that’s not the case as the roster currently stands. If we can still land AF or another stretch big then l LOVE this pickup. But, if he’s gonna be playing 25+ mpg at the 4, then idk wtf we are doing.

I love Pope & haven’t made one complaint about anything he’s done up to this point. But, I have to say, I’m not loving the portal adds, so far, this cycle. Not in this offense. Hopefully, the last cpl additions will be proven, consistent shooters who are more than role players. We have 11 role players now & don’t need another one. Pope seriously needs to close it out with a cpl studs.

Only a lineup with likes of Curry, Olajuwon, Jordan, Bird, and Duncan might be able to meet your standards.

Matt Jones thinks we are trying to get a guard and then it’s a wrap. I feel like we are missing a true stretch four
If true, means that Williams and Noah will figure into the rotation at the 4. That’s the only way it could work, IMHO.

Let’s say we get Yates (just as place holder, might be Pierre):

PG Lowe/Lewis/Perry
SG Yates/Johnson
SF Oweh/Chandler
PF Dioubate/Williams/Noah
C Garrison/Moreno

Kam isn’t a 4.

What a dumbass comment. Yeah, asking for a cpl guys to be more than role players means I demand 5 All-Americans in the starting lineup. Some of you just can not handle the slightest criticism. Either that or you have the reading comprehension of a fuc*ing doorknob.

I'd figure Lowe and Lewis would be holding down the point but I guess they may spend a few minutes on the floor together.

I'm hoping for Pierre as the last main guy. I think it would be very hard to convince Alvaro to come and split the 4. We may add a development 4 and have Noah/MD/Garrison/Moreno man the post.
Alvaro averaged just over 29 min a game last year at RMU. He would have to realize transferring to a P5 school that his minutes per game would go down. Pope doesn't like to play anyone over 20-25 min a game anyways. Of course Avaro and Dioubate could/would split minutes at the 4.
