Acaden Lewis Dad just became my all time favorite player parent

Sounds great. It's a lot different to live it when you are in it. Hopefully that same mentality is there once his son isn't playing as much/getting ripped by fans who are upset about a 2 play sequence. Circumstances are reality. Reality can change perception quickly.
Definitely fair but I’ve never heard a parent take this far and be that visceral about it. Makes me more excited to see Acaden play

Agree with most of the post, but trashing players that moved to a new city for one year, that probably none of them will end up living in, to help us field a team............ and trashing a coach that is working his tail off, has already taken down Duke, U of L and at Gonzaga and yet to come in his first year with a team slapped together last minute that's down a starter and the first guy off the bench to boot doesn't come from Love and Passion, it comes from absolute stupidity, selfishness and crappiness.

There is definitely some truth in “if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.”
Unless you end up in NY, LA, or Boston, Kentucky basketball is about as intense as it gets from an expectation and media perspective for a basketball player. It’s likely one of the hidden reasons our players usually ball out in the NBA. They’ve been hardened by all of the insane expectations

Coach Pope himself has said that the BBN should hold him to the HIGHEST standard. Which means to critique him in EVERY aspect of the program and to hold him accountable for EVERY loss.

Playing for Kentucky is the PINNACLE of college basketball and should be treated as such. Coach Pope has set the SAME standard that EVERYONE involved understands!!!!

Thank you Mr. Lewis for acknowledging what we ALL know about playing for UK!!!!

Imagine if every player and parent embraced this attitude… BBN is legitimately insane but it comes from a place of love and passion. I think if you take this attitude rather than letting the noise get to you, it can only help with the pressure and expectations.
Yesh his dad is cool, I think Acaden will be great because his dad raised him well. I watched a thing about him growing up, he wasn’t always a star and had to work hard to get where he is today.

Acaden seems like a kid who can handle it from what I’ve seen, his dad was hard on him starting young. I like kids like that, not easy to hurt mentally.

Love the kid as a player. What I'm referring to is I've heard this from several players parents over the years.....it often changes once you live it rather than watching others go through it. A lot easier to embrace the lunatic fringe when being an outsider or one of them than it is when you are the reason they are going off and they seek you out to criticize your kid.

The answer to that is you never embrace the lunatic fringe. You ignore them. Why pay attention to 5% of the fanbase when the other 95% are behind you all the way. The 5% are the loudest. I get that but they certainly don't represent me or any of our other great fans that eat, sleep and breath UK basketball.

Yeah I got what you are saying. Just from what I’ve seen from his dad he doesn’t strike me as the type who will get butthurt easily.

If it’s the truth what can he say about it? Take accountability, learn, grow and improve every day is what we expect from the coaches, players, and the parents. 😝 Our game threads are brutal but we call them as we see them. I think everything will work out, he would see minutes this year if he was here now.

Love it. His son is very grounded, realistic, thoughtful and well spoken. That speaks to his parents love and influence. For those who haven’t listened, here is a KSR interview after he committed. He is going to be a good one. Just hope we get more than 1 year of this guy.

Yeah it all sounds good until the fans come at you and your family . This isn’t about BBN but sports period. Fans can go overboard and I never get it .

Exactly-we see it at the HS level so it's only magnified with each level and how talented/high profile you/your team are. And if you think you win the fans over with this tweet now-and switch your **** up next year-they'll be re-tweeting and reminding you and it won't end well.

Pressure is privilege in sports. That being said, other teams make plays too and have good coaches/players. Some nights you'll lose but the job of a coach/team is to make opponents beat you. What often happens? Teams lose games with self destruction and more games are actually lost than won.

Hope the guy is ready for what's coming and again I am very glad Acaden is a Cat-love his game and think he's a winning player. Just experienced this talk before the actual competition starts and 100% of the time the tone changes once you are in the bullseye of the fans.
