You can spot the trolls real easy. Any UK fan would know Cowl signing top talent doesn’t mean shit. Amirite TCU?Didn't Acuff commit to Arkansas and isn't he more highly rated than any of our recruits currently? What am I missing? I'm still glad we moved on from Calipari because recruiting doesn't equal program success but I think if we start comparing our recruits to one of the best recruiters ever we are asking to be disappointed.
I think it’s a 3 horse race for his services, UK, Arkansas and UNC.Ehh. He is just takes others info and acts like he has inside sources. Anyways he is probably wrong. Wilson just said he is announcing a top 5 soon.
I would still gladly take boogie fland on this years Kentucky rosterMaybe people will start to realize that Cal's recruiting classes were more about Kentucky than Cal. I am not suggesting that Cal can't recruit, but his recruiting class rankings certainly skyrocketed after coming to Kentucky.
What the heck does your post have to do with my comments? I didn't say Fland wasn't a good player. However, I will say that Cal developed his relationship with Fland as the coach of UK.I would still gladly take boogie fland on this years Kentucky roster
You’re talking about Cal’s recruiting being inflated because of Kentucky, when he took a guy with him who would be the best player or second best on this roster we have now. Cal has recruited every level he has been, and will recruit every level he is at. I’m not his biggest fan, but cal got most of the players here because of his connections and his interests aligning with the players. What the heck does your post have to do with my comments? The portal talent pool may be a little thin next spring due to no more super seniors and as always if they're in the portal, they're not good enough to get drafted. If we get Wilson, we probably won’t have the money to invest in a superstar level guy at PF.
Are we paying Wilson a million plus and then another 4 man a million (remember Osobor reportedly brought in 2 mill) and have them split time at that position?
Wouldn’t that be money better spent at a different position?
Even at this level, money is finite. Can’t just buy whoever you want. And other teams have money too, so they can outbid us.
If we don’t get Wilson, we have the money to get a quality vet at the 4. But with Wilson, it’s going to be a backup level guy like Almonor.
I’m sure the staff has a budget and knows how much to spend on each position.
LOL, Maricopa now saying full results will be late for AZ.
1 for 5 from 3 not very impressive in TCU exhibitionI would still gladly take boogie fland on this years Kentucky roster
Yes, but he can do the one thing nobody on this roster outside of Jaxson Robinson can do. And that’s create offense and win 1vs1 matchups. Every team in CBK needs somebody like that.1 for 5 from 3 not very impressive in TCU exhibition
Great because 170 definitely sounded low.He personally said he was up to 195 lbs now and much stronger.
Get Wilson, then a couple of high profile transfers and we could be in great shape. One more. Next years roster is going to be absolutely loaded. If we get as many shooters around these guys as we have this year, watch out. Talent, experience, and a system that works.
That is currently true, but once others start consistently making threes, they will be able to pump fake and create something in a similar way. Steph is the best shooter ever, but he is also a very solid pump and drive player, because he has to be guarded so close at the three point mark.Yes, but he can one thing nobody on this roster outside of Jaxson Robinson can do. And that’s create offense and win 1vs1 matchups. Every team in CBK needs somebody like that.
Oweh Butler and Kriisa can all do that. Fland looked good in one game but were really not sure what he will do against good competition.Yes, but he can one thing nobody on this roster outside of Jaxson Robinson can do. Oweh can in spurts, but butler and krisa can not. They can pass to teammates in a system but winning 1vs1 matchups is not something either one can doO

Have you bumped your head or are you trying to be clever? You state that Cal has and will continue to recruit at every level as if that is something other coaches don't do. I stated before and will state again that Cal wasn't winning recruiting classes before coming to Kentucky. I think you clearly understood my position, but it seems that you think posting off topic will somehow change what is factual. Without Kentucky and if I might add the OAD, Cal wouldn't be considered the recruiting guru you consider him to be.You’re talking about Cal’s recruiting being inflated because of Kentucky, when he took a guy with him who would be the best player or second best on this roster we have now. Basketball is a team sport. You are not going to win a lot of games depending on your players to beat their man off the dribble instead of doing it with ball movement, especially if your team isn't a good 3-point shooting team. A zone defense is the perfect defense to use on a team that is only capable of scoring via the dribble drive or playground basketball. Basically, you need that kind of player to overcome poor coaching.Yes, but he can do the one thing nobody on this roster outside of Jaxson Robinson can do. And that’s create offense and win 1vs1 matchups. Every team in CBK needs somebody like that.
Butler has broken his man down off the dribble a couple times so far. Hes obviously capable of it. He did it on the winning shot.Oweh can in spurts, but butler and krisa can not. They can pass to teammates in a system but winning 1vs1 matchups is not something either one can do
Okay let me rephrase, butler agaisnt equal or better comp won’t be able to do that consistently. Now pope will generate better looks and run better offense for sure. But sometimes you need players to create opportunities themselves, that is still tbt for this team.Butler has broken his man down off the dribble a couple times so far. Hes obviously capable of it. A developmental big would also be valuable. We may be losing a lot from the front court after next year if players develop.Lewis said that Pope wanted four Freshmen (Moreno, Johnson, Lewis, Wilson- hopefully), five guys back (Oweh, Garrison, Chandler, Perry, Noah), and three from the portal.
So what you listed is about right, plus add another portal guy. A veteran shooter would probably make the most sense.
Are you still worried about Kentucky not having any players who can take their man off the dribble? It seems to me that UK did a decent job of driving to the basket last night.Okay let me rephrase, butler agaisnt equal or better comp won’t be able to do that consistently. They played wright st. Yes Kentucky looked good and it was promising, but you have to see them do it against higher level competition. Oweh csn get to the rim but can he finish against better teams, same with butler. Robinson in the tougher games has to be way more aggressive, because uk needs himAre you still worried about Kentucky not having any players who can take their man off the dribble? Who did Arkansas lose to? At some point you will stop attempting to water down UK's successes with Pope as the coach. I don't remember you doing that for any of their wins under Cal. Every win was treated like a steppingstone to the final 4.They played wright st. Yes Kentucky looked good and it was promising, but you have to see them do it against higher level competition. Seems like over the last several years we’ve had several “athletes” that were supposed to be able to beat their man one on one , but couldn’t make a shot . Usually the opponents coach would allow them to receive the ball late in the shot clock , deny everyone else , and go rebound . Worked great.Okay let me rephrase, butler agaisnt equal or better comp won’t be able to do that consistently. Now pope will generate better looks and run better offense for sure. He sounds exactly like a guy that would prefer Wagner over Reed Shepard. Are you still worried about Kentucky not having any players who can take their man off the dribble? It seems to me that UK did a decent job of driving to the basket last night.
If the player can't shoot, all you have to do is layoff the guy so that he can't drive past you. There is no need of playing a non-shooter up close.Seems like over the last several years we’ve had several “athletes” that were supposed to be able to beat their man one on one , but couldn’t make a shot . Yep . Some people have been conditioned by Cal and that’s all they know. When was the last time we had a player that could just “go get a bucket “ when it was crunch time ? I’d say Dillingham for sure but he was rarely used . Reeves couldn’t, Reed couldn’t.If the player can't shoot, all you have to do is layoff the guy so that he can't drive past you. And now if you play a good team who can gameplan and adjust and forces you off the 3 point line or the shots aren’t falling, who on this team is gonna go make a play and create a bucket? Robinson can but will he. Oweh and butler have the athletic ability but can they canter y finish at the rimSeems like over the last several years we’ve had several “athletes” that were supposed to be able to beat their man one on one , but couldn’t make a shot . A exhibition game is not the same thing. And LMD you know at every level of basketball you have to have a guy create a bucket or create opportunities for your offense no matter how good of a X’s and O’s Coach the head guy is. When have I watered down his success, he hasn’t done anything yet. UConn has one the best basketball minds and staffs in the game and last year they had 2 guys who when the play got scrambled could go get them a basket( Spencer and newton) Kentucky needs somebody to do that on occasion and it’s a fair question to bring up about this team.Who did Arkansas lose to? If winning games that you are supposed to win doesn't say much about a team, what does losing to a much lower ranked team say? You will be raising the bar all season no matter who this team beats because you want them to perform poorly to validate Cal. Cal university has already lost so Pope is already outperforming Cal. Also, how well was Cal served by having a go to guy last Friday? When the defense is extended to cover all of the 3-point shooters, there will be lots of driving lanes to the basket. That was demonstrated last night. It is much easier to stop a non-shooting driver than it is to stop a shooter. UK fans learned that painful lesson less season.A exhibition game is not the same thing. Are you dense? Serious question I don’t know many times I have to tell you I’m not a cal fanboy, I have been on here for years saying I wanted cal gone. And no I’m not moving the goalposts for pope. Every argument somebody make you automatically bring it back to cal. I bring up the school that has won back-back titles, you go directly to cal. So for somebody who is calling me out for not being over cal, you sure do like bring him up. Cal struggles because he is terrible scheme coach, he relies solely on the authentic ability of his players. I’m talking about coaches who can actually scheme offense and also have guys who can create late in the game when they need it. Kentucky has question marks there, it’s pretty clear they do.If winning games that you are supposed to win doesn't say much about a team, what does losing to a much lower ranked team say?
