AA’s response: “Let’s go Coach.”

When told by Pope that we need to get Carr going and that Carr would be starting.
Great attitude. Glad to have Ansley on the team.
I love Almonar’s 3-point shooting. Now, let’s get him rebounding some. Garrison and Almonar with 1 rebound apiece while Chandler gets 5.
Almonar does have a great attitude, Team player.

I like AA but he might be the worst rebounder in the history of basketball. He will not box out and make little to no effort to go after a ball.

Hard to rebound when you hang out at the 3 point line, which is where I think we want him. He could be better on the defensive end rebounding though.
The defensive side is my complaint. Just focus on him and watch how he just stands around and doesn't crash the boards or put a body on a man to block out. I get he isn't the most athletic guy on the floor but neither was Oscar but he wanted the ball and would go after it....AA not so much.

I agree. I feel the entire team could be better at rebounding. I feel like since we aren’t super fast that many of them are already trying to get back in transition so they don’t give up the fast break instead of going for the boards.

Idk the percentages but he has to be above 70% on that corner 3. It seems like he never misses.

Jmo but hes actually one of the only guys we have that blocks out. Hes usually blocking his man out to the free throw line and been called for fouls a few times for aggressive block outs.

In theory, if everyone did the same out rebounding problems would be solved. Instead since it's just him it hurts him both statistically and via perception.

Very nice to hear. MKG-like leadership with the Darius Miller situation in 2012.
Perfect analogy. Darius came in a highly rated recruit but in a time we were getting even HIGHER rated guys on top of him. He waited 4 years for his time and still came off the bench his last year but never complained and totally embraced it and came into the game like he owned it every time and did his part with confidence. He was a key part of that championship run and parlayed all that into a decent pro career as well.

Probably one of the most underrated UK Basketball stories and players we've had.
