A up to date list that MARK POPE and staff has contacted in the transfer portal

This is the order I would rank these. Of course, position matters, for example if we whiff on the other PGs, Collins moves up.

D.Dent6'2 PG
L.Wilkerson6'4 SG
D.Thomas6'1 PG
M.Gwath7'0 C
A.Folgueiras6'9 PF
N.Davidson6'10 PF
E.Freeman6'8 F
K.Williams6'8 W
Bol Bolen6'10 PF
F.Collins6'1 PG
T.Eaglestaff6'6 SG

Just read the Robert Morris PF is a heavy KY lean and could be finalized very soon.
He has a nice skill set. Can he step up to the big stage ... that is the big question ??
Can he defend ?? I wish he had a little more verticality in his game. He definitely looks decent, though.

Have 15+10 against bama in tournament

No doubt he can play

Even at 6'9, he looks like he struggles to get high enough to dunk. Got embarrassed defensively against Bama because they just had a major edge athletically. Offensively, he's great – great shot, great distributor, decent rebounder. Defensively, IMO, he's good to great against middling talent. Hoping he can elevate his defense if he comes to Kentucky.

He may be a second string guy in for offense and a little defense here and there. The staff seems to know exactly who they want for their system and have already proven it works so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. So far I’ve seen 5 guys we have contacted in the top 20:portal rankings so far. FWIW Dent is the consensus #1 so maybe we go all out for him.

Oh, they deserve all the grace and blessings from BBN to go after whomever they think will fit the system the best. There's no doubt about that.

This transfer portal stuff is way worse to follow than regular old high school recruiting.

I'm just going to wait until I see players are signed and then look into it. I don't have the time or interest to follow the new transfer portal absurdities.
I much prefer it to following high school recruiting. Things can only drag out for a couple months as opposed to a couple years.

My bet is 20+ other teams ar in conversation with these kids. It is a closed auction for talent.

I have yet to see one credible source say anything about Smith but I hope it has legs. Post what you find if it’s from a reliable account

Yeah no one I would consider reliable yet. This one "expert" is saying money is no object for Pope to bring him in. If the guy I'm monitoring starts getting hits on his predictions I'll share him here. Im hesitant right now because he's fairly new and hes selling a discord and asking for tips on twitter.

I guess we will see when/if Smith does go to the portal how the bigger name folks react. If they start mentioning UK instantly there may be something to it.

I’m with you.

The only thing better is that it doesn’t last nearly as long. So the news is fast and furious and changes daily but is over quickly.

Please Coach pope, be hesitant to take non-athletic slow players who can shoot, I know you like them because they remind you of you back in the day, but better to be ruthless and hold out for athletic fast players who can shoot. This is the SEC.

I'm with you. Add to it that our current season is still going and is in the most exciting part. But I think some people are more interested in team building than actual team playing.

I saw where he just signed a new NIL deal yesterday. I'm from the camp that would be stunned, -- stunned I say -- if he left Purdue for anything other than a 5th year of eligibility as a graduate student athlete (if that's even still a thing)

I didn't see Braden Smith on that list yet, but that is probably because he's still in the Sweet 16. I assume, whenever Purdue loses he would enter.

If you could pick 5 from this list including Braden Smith to that list. What 5 would you pick?

D.Dent6'2 PG
L.Wilkerson6'4 SG
D.Thomas6'1 PG
M.Gwath7'0 C
A.Folgueiras6'9 PF
N.Davidson6'10 PF
E.Freeman6'8 F
K.Williams6'8 W
Bol Bolen6'10 PF
F.Collins6'1 PG
T.Eaglestaff6'6 SG

My 5 would be:

PG Braden Smith
PG Thomas
SG Lamar Wilkerson (Has a higher 3pt % than Eaglestaff)
W: Kam Williams
PF Nick Davidson (Stretch forward)

The only problem I see with the 5 you chose is that leaves Garrison (if he stays), Moreno, and Davidson (from your list) as the only guys on the team over 6'8" left to play the PF and C positions on the whole roster. I highly suspect he wouldn't take one of the two PG's and would replace that slot with Gwath (Folgueiras in a close second).

I want Yaxel Lendenborg over anyone I've seen in the portal to date. Of those currently available, Dent, Gwath, and Williams look like potential starters next year. I also think we will get Max Green from Holy Cross, too, to take over the Kerr Kriisa role.

That makes us pretty small.

I’ll go with:

PG Thomas (I am assuming Smith is just a baseless rumor)
W Williams
PF Folgueiras
F/C Davidson
C Gwath

PG Thomas/Lewis/Perry
SG Oweh/Johnson
SF Williams/Chandler/Noah
PF Davidson/Folgueiras
C Garrison/Gwath/Moreno

Unless a player is just an absolute stud or a position of dire need (like point and power forward), I would prefer that we go for guys with more than one year of eligibility where possible. I would love for Pope to establish a 7 or 8 man core of multi year guys and add one and dones (either freshman or seniors from the portal) as they make sense.

Dropped 15-10 on Bama in the R32

What about the Bailey kid that plays for Davidson? I thought we contacted him early. He looked great in his videos. Mobile and good. 6’10.
