If UofL is guilty of accepting players from any&all programs that have dismissed said players, (players guilty of charges that would disqualify them from participation at all or mostly all other institutions}, why is UK still honoring a contract to play U of L???????

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ is the main answer. Guaranteed sellout, little travel cost when away, almost always televised.

Because it is a great rivalry and UK has hopes that Little Brother will someday clean up their act. The sleaze from that program however pretty hard to take even for a fan like me that really loves the rivalry game.

It would be different if we could ever beat them. DROP THEM AND ADD WKU..wait...no..add EKU!!
Can't wait until you're permanently banned...what a clown...just use your UL user name and say the same things-would be much more respectable.

Because it's UK's greatest rival. Ever noticed how UK fans think EVERY rival is sleazy? Well just go with it, it adds to the hate which adds to the excitement come game day (or disappointment depending on the game outcome).

Actually, Tennessee followed by Vanderbilt are our greatest rivals. This UofL series and subsequent rivalry plays into TV exposure more than anything. You can thank Howard Schellenberger for ramping this series into a fan frenzy. Also thanks to Hal Mumme allowing Claude Basset to run wild buying players placing us on a near death penalty probation. UofL took advantage and built their program on our demise.

I disagree, but I'm from the school of thought that says both sides have to think it's a great rivalry in order for it to actually be one. I know UT fans don't really see UK as a rival and nobody really ever gets excited about playing Vanderbilt. The UK/UL rivalry is like the UT/Vanderbilt rivalry or the USC/Clemson rivalry or the Georgia/Georgia Tech rivalry. It's always more fun to hate the other in state school

These responses are not the angle that I was looking at! My feeling or thought (is/was), if UL is this sleazy and unscruplious, (sp), doesn't this make UK an accessory to the sleazy/unscruplious acts?????

In terms of Kentucky's contractual obligations, the point you raised is irrelevant. It doesn't give Kentucky a way out of the contract. However, it is offensive to many citizens of our state, including me, that a school receiving state funding deliberately attracts and exploits players who got kicked out of other schools. And it's more than that. By playing UL, Kentucky is helping UL and rewarding their methods. Sooner or later, it just stinks too much. But with the current football agreements between the SEC and ACC, it has gotten harder to end this series.

The UofL series has taken on even more negative connotation with their current head coach's history. Until we can take control of this series, Bobby Petrino will immensely enjoy the upper hand.

As a side note, when UK came from behind late in the Arkansas game a few years back and won, Petrino went into a screaming, cursing full out vocal degradation of his players while destroying the locker room.

And, this is the guy our fans pleaded to be our coach.

Name the players that are guilty of charges. This a false charge in itself.

Well, your bias or stupidity one is showing in that reply. Why were they dismissed from their prior school, usually four and five star players are given as many breaks as possible without losing your integrity as a University-------something UL doesn't have to worry about any more.

And I don't want to end the UL series at this point by any stretch of the imagination, UK has gotten serious about football and I don't want to end the series until they say uncle. And I think our four (probably more) game winning streak could very well start this year, even if their house of cards doesn't blow up in their face soon, certainly very lucky so far. Along with the tight control jurich has over the city AND their win at all cost fans that will accept anything, just win baby. Disgusting.

jauk, these kids might have been dismissed for violating team rules, but none of them did jail time. Fields is the most serious case, but he didn't serve time in jail either. I'm guessing you think Jurich is responsible for getting him off as well. Crazy stuff.

yeah jauk. all fields did was punch a girl in the face and cut her under the eye... geeze. he was cleared of any serious charges.

Honestly, as bad as it sounds the best teams in the nation are usually the sleaziest..Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Tennessee, Ohio State, Alabama..these get guys arrested right and left and no one does anything except talk about how many games they're winning..they expect these guys to just flip on a switch on Saturday and turn into complete animals that will run as fast as they can into a brick wall, and then go about the rest of their week as choir boys..Football players are a different breed..sure there are nice guys that are great players, but those are the exception..for the most part these great teams are loaded with guys who are great players because they're willing to take risks and take chances and their confidence is through the roof...the thing that makes them a great football player is the thing that makes them a menace off the field..If I'm playing football I want the meanest, nastiest guys out there in my foxhole..if the NCAA isn't going to punish a team for stocking their team with these kind of guys, we might as well be right there with them..they don't give awards for the team with the highest character..all I want is wins..if that means recruiting a bunch of guys that take risks & chances like the majority of the elite teams in the nation then so be it..I'd rather be winning than sleep good at night knowing we have a team of nice guys

If UK didn't play teams that fans deemed sleazy/unscrupulous, Kentucky would have nobody to play.I'm more annoyed by the fans whining than anyone, but it is what it is. This fanbase would prefer to blame others or look for extrinsic reasons why UK loses season after season than look internally. It's the way it's been as long as I can remember and I suppose it's the way it will always be. You must be new.

Not a bad list I guess, but you are way off in including Georgia in that group, IMO, two failed tests and you are gone, (UK also I believe) while at TU it is five and at UL I would guess the sky is the limit, although I doubt if many get reported there.

I don't know of anybody that Butch Jones has let fail a drug test more than once. Of course I don't know all, but I can't think of anyone.

Georgia might have a two and your done rule, I'm not sure about their policy..I just know a whole lot of guys have gotten in trouble there in the Richt era..I think the two and your done rule might be a recent development that was forced on them because of how many guys were running wild in Athens..last year alone they had a guy (Jonathan Taylor) get arrested for strangling his girlfriend and had 4 more guys arrested for theft by deception and another guy arrested for driving with a suspended license..they had 8 players last year to get arrested..in the last 4 years they've had 22 players get arrested..that's the most in the SEC

This reminds me of the story the Bobby Bowden days at Florida State. Not too many years ago, a number of his players including four highly touted starters were caught stealing clothing from a Tallahassee men's store. Caught outright, campus police and Tallahassee police immediately investigated. The school president stated firmly the players would be dealt with in a forthright and legal manner.

A bit later in the process Bobby Bowden called a press conference. Stepping to the microphone looking very serious, he said (paraphrasing), "now gentlemen, boys will be boys and we do not condone their action and I am announcing today they well held out of the South Carolina State and Drake games. But, they will be ready for Clemson."

Case dismissed.
