1. I hope Coach Stoops turned in Josh Forrest's "late hit" to the league office. On TV, one is able to capture just a frame or two of it, but the referee definitely gives the signal and mouths that he threw the flag due to the low hit on the quarterback instead of its lateness, as Jesse Palmer was stating. My understanding of the rule is that this is only applicable while the QB is in the pocket, as one should be able to tackle the quarterback from anywhere on his body outside the pocket. Also, from the replay angles it appears that Forrest initially strikes Mitch just above the waist and then slides down his body, which is in keeping with excellent form.
2. I know it gets annoying on TV (although not nearly as annoying as UT's "third down for what" shenanigans), but I am a bit envious of that rooster crowing in the background for every 3rd down. It serves as a known signal and really seems to get the crowd jacked for their 'Cocks. I would love if we would do something similar on 3rd down with an audible purr followed by a loud Wildcat roar.
Anyone else have any thoughts on these topics?
