Rex was a little ahead of my time. Curious if there’s a particularly good game to pull up and watch to see the best of what he could do?

This86 vs the Cards
And that was against the Greatest pro basketball team ever which is funny... in 1996, the greatest teams in college and pro basketball won the championship that year.
The crazy old dude on Twitter that does the Block/Charge videos and is stuck in the 80's.Who?
Think that was prolly the 86 Celtics. And that was against the Greatest pro basketball team ever which is funny... in 1996, the greatest teams in college and pro basketball won the championship that year.
This was some bad stuff right here.
I did too. Played for OHS. Beat his ass quite often.I saw Rex play a lot live in high school. If you weren't around then you won't understand. When he played at my high school they sold tickets way in advance in a sort of lottery....Owensboro Apollo's bus had a police escort.
Everyone cheered for Rex. Didn't matter whose side you were on...Rex knew this and he was a showman. He did things that nobody did in a real game. He got a steal and on a fast break - threw the basketball down from just inside the free throw line - it went up and hit the glass in a perfect self-lob in which Rex proceeded to reverse jam.
People almost rushed the court when he did that. I've never seen any other player live that was more entertaining on any level.
I think it was like one of those Dawahares events put on by KHSAA and WKYT showcasing Top talent in KY. They would play in Memorial and games would be broadcast statewide by Dick Gabriel, Dave Baker. The best part is Rex and his Apollo team would play Henry Clay led by Sean Sutton and Scott Sutton was on that team also if I'm not mistaken. Of course Eddie Sutton was in attendance and got a front row seat to see Rex do his things against the Sutton's.My peak Chapman play came while he was still in HS. I can't remember why the teams were playing at Memorial Hall. Chapman threw a half-court bounce pass that hit his teammate in stride. He tried to recreate that later in college, but it never quite worked. As pretty a pass as I've ever seen.
That same tourney but against Southern University. Avery Johnson played for SU and lead the nation in assists. Haven't watched that one in a long time, but if memory serves correct, that was more of a Davender game.Final game against Villanova...30 pts
First official shot at UK was a three pointer...last official shot at UK was a dunk...described career at UK
I watched a few minutes of the tennessee game and got reminded of a couple of gems:Here is the Kentucky vs. Tennessee Game from 1987 . Will post the UK vs UL game from 1986 is a few mins
WATCH - 02.11.1987 - Kentucky vs. Tennessee
Watch - 12.27.1986 - Kentucky vs. Louisville
I believe the Navy game in those highlights was when David Robinson was on that team. I remember that game pretty well.Rex UK Highlights
This video sums his game up pretty well. The thing about Rex that gets forgotten is he was doing things that very few other guys were back then. Bombing 30-footers, dunking on folks, risky runners in the lane that always seemed to go in, etc. He had a lot of flash to his game. Lots of guys play like him now, but he was kind of revolutionary at the time. He was one of the most confident players I ever saw, to this day. Like a more athletic Tyler Herro.
I watched it. I know it’s a weird comparison, but in a way he reminded me of Dillingham, the way he could both contort his body and control the ball. Same confidence and attack too. Rex’s jumper looked more consistent. And his shot form was pretty unique.86 vs the Cards
