I know it was Wright State we played but it was not the score I was really watching. I was more into the "how" we won.
Some would argue that past UK teams would not have won this big and some would say yes they would have. I just remember the last few years not having that feeling going into a game where I felt UK would blow someone out always waiting for that 6-7 minute stretch where we just crapped the bed without scoring or letting some unknown go off on us for 30 points.
The few mistakes I did see should correct themselves when this group gets more playing time together. I wasn't completely sold on the Williams kid but last night he showed me much more than I have seen and think he will be a player others will have to deal with.
Garrison worried me a little; seemed to want to take a shot when there was a better option. Hopefully that was a nothing burger.
Butler is a dog. You just have a good feeling that he is going to make a play.
Oweh is going to be a really good player for us. Seems sneaky.
I like the Koby Brea kid. When he shoots you have that feeling it's going in.
Robinson reminds me a a Kansas type player. Solid all over. Glad he is a Cat.
I could go on and on but everyone knows what they see.
This team could easily get down 15 points to Alabama, Gonzaga but with these shooters, hell Brea could hit four 3's real quick and just like that, you're right back in it.
What was nice for me was watching kids play without expectations like we had in the past where you are always judging what they did by what the expects rated them. More times than not we asked who gave this kid 5 stars.
Now for the part some will disagree with me and that is OK. What this old fart really like was how every damn one of our coaches were in a suit and tie. The old Adolph days. UK is first class and I liked how our coaches looked. Not saying they need to wear them all the time but it sure looked better then that look we had lately with Cal.
There were times when Cal looked like a slob. Maybe it was how his clothed didn't seem to fit at times, but I sure liked the shirt and tie look we had last night.
You look the part, you play the part.
