In Ken Pom rankings with a legit shot at the Title. 23 of the the last 24 champions have had both with UConn 2014 as the only outlier. These are the 8 ranked top 30 headed into the tournament this week.
1 Duke
2 Florida
3 Houston
4 Auburn
5 Tennessee
6 Gonzaga
7 Iowa St
8 Wisconsin

Obviously gonna be one of the first 4 teams.

But as everyone knows basketball is a game of matchups and a lot of other things don’t matter for whatever reason. Case in point is UK for some reason is a bad matchup for UT.

This just means teams that win championships are generally not bad at offense or defense. However, with the way NIL has changed things the past few years...I'm not sure any historical data has much predictive value.

I believe that’s post tournament Kenpom top 30 in both. Could be wrong but I believe the “pre tournament” extends to 40 or 45 in both.

One of the guys who track stats for fun could prob answer that like @Aike

I don't know about Kenpom rankings, but last season ... there was only one team in the country that was ranked in Top 25 in both points scored and points allowed. It was UConn ... and they won it all !! They finished at 37-3 on the year ...

This is true. It’s the post tournament top 30. So technically you don’t need to be on the list pre-tournament to fit the criteria though it doesn’t hurt.

I just mean that college basketball is a different animal than it was 5 years ago so there is no guarantee that things will turn out the same way they used to turn out.
The way teams are constructed is completely different. The recipe for success on the court hasn’t changed.

You completely forgot two teams. Michigan State and Maryland both rank in the top 30 on Kenpom for offense and defense.
I read a story on it earlier today they said Alabama Michigan St and Maryland were close but weren’t top 30 in both.
